In my opinion, yes! Artificial bait, both hoped in the mouth, both fish in the net, and both fish in the boat. If I was a judge in a tournament and saw the footage, I would allow it. Great job Tim!
Ramrod - I snapped off a BBZ Rat on a fish. It tried to throw it, then the rat cruised by me on the surface, still hanging out the bass' mouth. It broke the surface again and tried throwing it. I was waiting to see if the lure would pop back up. Then down the shore the bass went in the tules and started head shaking and thrashing like crazy. I think it managed to lose the rat but I couldn't see from shore. So when a bigger bass takes you into something and snaps you off, it isn't just luck, they know what they're doing.
That is one of the coolest things ever! I don't fish many tournaments, but my thought is that you could legally weigh in both fish, they were not intentionally snagged and both caught on the same lure.
Your lure, your net ,your fish! I've had fish jump off of my hook and had the net under them, as I'm sure you have had happen also, awesome fish tale Tim!!!👍
Just saw Matt in the 11/02 report down here with the 34+lb bag. Nice work and thanks for the tip, we did very well too. Thanks again Matt, big pick me up for my bud fighting with cancer right now....
+Mr. FatBasstard I just saw that too! Wasn't expecting that, they didn't get the picture from us but it was still very flattering. Glad to hear he enjoyed himself, that's awesome!!
Great story and footage Tim. I think any fish that makes in you boat should count. Except purposely snagging. Accidental snagging should also count. You're the man !
That's a tough one though. Because most of the smaller tournaments don't have film crews, and "official" boats and crews following every boat around all through the tournament, so it is an honor system thing at that point... and not all people are honorable and honest 😕 Check out the story on Mike Long and you will understand what I mean. I'll post the link to the story if you are interested. It's a fairly long and detailed story, but it's worth the read if you've ever questioned if, and how someone would cheat in a bass tournament. Some of the things that guy Mike Long did were just crazy! Anyway, check it out. sdfish.com/general/dark-secret-americas-big-bass-guru-mike-long/
Tim, if you loaded fish #1 on the back treble and it stretched the mono & fish #2 t-boned the lure near the eyelet & front treble, that could have easily snapped your 30lb line... given the combined weight and forces involved. ‘Just a thought. Congrats & thanks for all that you and Matt do for us.
That's awesome! I cant even catch one fish and you caught 2?!?! Lol! Keep up the good work fellas. I enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot from them..
great story and video. So I have a question. So if you grabbed the line that broke off and you hand lined the fish in and then netted the fish would they still count?
Next video idea: Can you guys talk about scents? Does it really matter or is just confidence thing? What has worked or not worked for you guys in the past, etc.
I gotta say the best part of the video (other than when you drag two giants on the deck) is the look on your face when you break off and look back at the camera like WTF?!?
Thanks for sharing amazing experience. I think I'd tie the line back together in a tournament and retrieve, then net if legal. Either way it's an unbelievable experience and two beautiful fish!
True dilemma for a tourney fisherman. The "net" issue is the only way I could see where they could gig you. That was really a show, Matt. Most stories like that start with, "Hey man, this ain't no shit.....!" Hah. Nice that it happened to a good guy and that you weren't in a tournament. The video doesn't lie.
Wow craziest story ever man! I still feel in a tournament situation it should count since they were both properly hooked and you still retrieved the bait with the fish in tact on it and you netted it. Plus how often is that ever gonna happen? Lol. I'd count it! But that's just my opinion from Michigan
I'm in ct I think in a local derby it may not be a big deal, but fishing flw tourneys they have to be "caught in a sporting manner" and I'm pretty sure they don't consider netting a sporting manner. But that was incredible!
So cool I was fishing this morning my buddy come running down to the lake like....did you see Tim's new story I usually watch you guys video first .. I put him on to your channel an so he was exited to tell me the story first before I got to just see this video lol cool story man all the way from Massachusetts
Just a crazy theoretical question..... But what if you left the fish hooked, tied your lure back on, put them back in the water, and then reeled them in???
Hi Matt, could you make a video regarding scents and attractants? I feel like there's still a lot of debate and controversy and was interested in hearing your opinion
yrulooknatme ya take measurements and show the video to the taxidermist and let the fish go! No need to kill two 6 pound bass! That would be an epic mount though
I had something similar happen to me on the Delta during a tournament. Caught two fish on a crank down swimbait. One was 7.81(big fish of the tourney) and the other was 5 1/2lbs. Although I never broke them off.
Nice vid...wicked experience man...well u did the right thing by reaching the fish...I think it would count as a foul or something.. personally I wouldn't throw them in the lw and weigh them in..nice "catch" though...thanks for the tips and info
Nice day of fishing. I can't wait to start fishing again. But then again I'm excited for duck hunting and making hunting videos till the ice shows up. Then its Ice fishing :)
Does that apply for all species? I’ve seen a couple times where fisherman fighting a fish and their buddy is ready with the net but the line breaks or the fish jumps/spits the hook and their buddy acted quickly and used the net and scoop it in. That is considered illegal in CA???
Being a tournament angler from Jersey myself personally I would not have kept the fish. Especially if I used the net. However if I hand lipped The fish into the boat and it had my lure in its mouth from just breaking off, I believe you can keep one of the fish but it would have to be the one smaller of the two because you don’t know which one hit it first. Best bet is if you have a good bag already or think there is a chance of disqualification why risk it. Just keep grinding 👍👍👍
Hey guys I am looking to get replacement hooks for the Waiver 200; you noted that you use 1/0 hooks but River2Sea says is comes with a 2/0. Which size should I get?
Yes. My reasoning? It happened on BASS Live this year! lol forgot what tourney it was or who it was, but it was Elite series and on Live too! I think it was a crankbait. Both I think were keepers at the time and they went in the well..but they were like 2 pounders and got culled before weigh in iirc
i misunderstood you and thought you meant 2 fish caught at the same time generally speaking instead of the way this story went down. thatd be a bummer mid tourney since they were netted
The coolest thing that ever happened to me was I broke off my favorite lure, a bluegill colored creature bait, tips dyed chartruese, texas rigged with a pinned weight (not a lot of people throw it, it's very unique) and hooked into a fish and broke off. I retied the same thing on, about 5 minutes later I get bit again and get the fish on the bank. as I'm unhooking it, I realize that a part of the soft plastic was down his gullet so I figured he broke off one of the appendages. Thinking that plastic won't digest very well, I reach in and grab it to pull it out and feel some resistance. I pull a little harder and end up pulling out the exact lure and hook I had just broken off 5 minutes before. The hook was still transposed so I literally never even hooked him. He just swallowed the entire bait. In that little bit of time, I lost a lure, got it back, and saved a fish's life. Good times!
That’s probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Now what if this happened? What if instead of using the net, you grabbed the line that was still attached to the bait, and pulled that line in, and landed the fish? Is that an acceptable fish taking method? Just curious. Second, is there anyway to get an Swaver like that, 200 size, to sink faster and fish 10 feet deep?
Had a somewhat similar type of situation happen during a tournament. Cast out immediately get hit set the hook and my line breaks. Line is just sitting on the surface of the water so I grab the line and start pulling it in as I'm going to my bait with the trolling motor. The fish just sat there not realizing it was hooked until I was within about 5 feet from it. It ended up being a catfish but it was crazy how the fish just sat there like nothing had happened.
I know it is a amazing feeling I just had the same thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago . I actually was running a live stream when i hooked in to them and just posted the vid like you said telling a story is alsome. But haveing proof is priceless enjoy guys and keep that line wett
dude I would have been considerably more excited than that!!! especially since you got your expensive swimbait back!!!
lojo.fishing haha 70% of the fish they catch I would be so excited over! They are just like oh another 10 pounder and keep fishing lol
Tim that was crazy and your right no one would believe it if it wasn't on video! I love it when your standing there in complete disbelief lol!
what an awesome story Tim!
Thank you for Sharing !
In my opinion, yes! Artificial bait, both hoped in the mouth, both fish in the net, and both fish in the boat. If I was a judge in a tournament and saw the footage, I would allow it. Great job Tim!
You gotta be shittin me Tim. If I was in that situation those fish would swam right by my boat flicking me off.
Ramrod I am glad he saw them I bet if 1 of them didn't throw the hook they both probably would have died
Ramrod - I snapped off a BBZ Rat on a fish. It tried to throw it, then the rat cruised by me on the surface, still hanging out the bass' mouth. It broke the surface again and tried throwing it. This is a must share video. Cmon people help him make this video viral!
I love how you can see him spot the commotion on the surface and he starts trolling the boat towards them. great footage
Maaaan, that was sick! You're right, no one would have believed that!
Unbelievable! And those 2 fish were both quality fish!!
Been following for a while. Love the original video! Great explanation. You guys kill it.
I wouldn't care about the fish no more. Getting my lure back would excite me more. Lol. Awesome video Tim.
That's awesome Tim! Thanks for sharing that. As always GOOD STUFF!
That is one of the coolest things ever! I don't fish many tournaments, but my thought is that you could legally weigh in both fish, they were not intentionally snagged and both caught on the same lure.
Tim my friend . that was some real bass action ! That's very crazy. Thanks for all the great work on the videos. C.ya
I would say it would illegal in NJ.....cool video...thanks for sharing. Mark
Amazing story and footage to back it up!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bud!
Your lure, your net ,your fish! I've had fish jump off of my hook and had the net under them, as I'm sure you have had happen also, awesome fish tale Tim!!!👍

I would have that lure and photos with a story printed out and framed up, that's one hell of a catch.
That's awesome! I cant even catch one fish and you caught 2?!?! Lol! Keep up the good work fellas. I enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot from them..
I was getting off and you said to not get off right when I was, so I got kept on watching it😂😂 great video
great story and video. So I have a question. So if you grabbed the line that broke off and you hand lined the fish in and then netted the fish would they still count?
Wish you guys would film a tournament.
That just makes me happy. Great story, great memory, well done as always.
How long of a leader do you tie on when fishing a large glide bait like this?
Next video idea: Can you guys talk about scents? Does it really matter or is just confidence thing? What has worked or not worked for you guys in the past, etc.
I gotta say the best part of the video (other than when you drag two giants on the deck) is the look on your face when you break off and look back at the camera like WTF?!?
Could you do a video on how to find fish when shore fishing
What water temps does the waver 200 excel in? Ive put 40+ hours in the bait and I have only landed 2 fish
Reminiscing on some of the old videos. When you're out there long enough, you see some crazy things. I have a half dozen bird stories. Lol
Yesterday was my 1st double hook ever in my fishing history. I'm still doing back flips!
Wow! Absolutely awsome.
Thanks for sharing amazing experience. I think I'd tie the line back together in a tournament and retrieve, then net if legal. Either way it's an unbelievable experience and two beautiful fish!
That would be aweful in a tournament situation, but also nice to be around bass of that size.
The best l have seen yet great story. ..
Do you guys have a video explaining the 8 fish picture on your video intro? If so what’s the title? If not I’d love to hear that story!
True dilemma for a tourney fisherman. The "net" issue is the only way I could see where they could gig you. That was really a show, Matt. FISH ON! (x2) That was nice. Good Job! Thanks for the story & the video. I wouldn't know the answer to the question.
So does that mean when your fishing a tournament and a fish is on your line you have to boat it by hand or can you use your net to boat it
that was crazy 😝. Sweet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in ct I think in a local derby it may not be a big deal, but fishing flw tourneys they have to be "caught in a sporting manner" and I'm pretty sure they don't consider netting a sporting manner. But that was incredible!
So if you found the line where it broke at and hand lined them in would that be legal in Calif?
So cool I was fishing this morning my buddy come running down to the lake like....did you see Tim's new story I usually watch you guys video first .. I put him on to your channel an so he was exited to tell me the story first before I got to just see this video lol cool story man all the way from Massachusetts
Wow, how cool is that. I was wondering if that would be legal in a tourney or not. Either way....BAD ASS!
I think they might make an exception for this situation... On account of the awesomeness
the best fishing video of 2017
Thank you!
Man, how cool would that have been if your line didn't snap and you reeled in both of them. That would of been the best fishing of the decade.
Great story...small odds of that happening. Wow!
Wow this is awesome. You guys are great and I have learned alot about swimbaits from you thanks so much
Just a crazy theoretical question.....
But what if you left the fish hooked, tied your lure back on, put them back in the water, and then reeled them in???
That is AWESOME!
Hi Matt, could you make a video regarding scents and attractants? I feel like there's still a lot of debate and controversy and was interested in hearing your opinion
maplestar67 try jj Magic. Best I've ever tried. I'd don't know if they use much of it. But it works for me on hi pressured lakes in Cali.
That is an awesome story! Great video! 🎣👍🏼
Great experience, but honestly I never fished a tournament so I have no clue but thanks for the video.
Dang, you saved those fishes lives! Hard to believe that you couldn't box em but understand that it could create a lot of grey area if it were legal.
Seen it . Was sick!
Wow! Awesome stuff you guys have the best footage. I agree I don’t think it’s legal in Al either. Has to be caught by hook and line.
Hey Tim, awesome video !
that is actually amazing
God must of been watching those fishes and made sure they didn’t get stuck that way permanently great thing you were able to net them
Epic as usual brotha! EPIC!
👊 Awesome! I let the ads play the duration to help support.
That's Crazy ! That'll be a tough one to top . . . .
Those were some hammers!
i'de have to mount the fish and the lure just like you netted them...lol
yrulooknatme ya take measurements and show the video to the taxidermist and let the fish go! No need to kill two 6 pound bass! That would be an epic mount though
Replica mount exactly as is. I'm guessing that's what he meant
The answer is so simple. If it happened to ME? Yes, it’s good in a tourney, anyone else? No way! You snapped off!! ;-)
I had something similar happen to me on the Delta during a tournament. Caught two fish on a crank down swimbait. One was 7.81(big fish of the tourney) and the other was 5 1/2lbs. Although I never broke them off.
I can’t even get one that size. Lucky bastard
HAHAHA oh man that's crazy! awesome video thanks Tim!

Nice day of fishing. I can't wait to start fishing again. But then again I'm excited for duck hunting and making hunting videos till the ice shows up. Then its Ice fishing :)
What is your favrite bait
Hey Tim that was a 6story keep up the great work
sweet I got two 3 n half lb smallies on the 130 whopper at the same time about this time last year too cool
Cool video. Thanks.
I've officially Subscribed.

They come with 2/0 and I really prefer to replace them with 1/0. Good catch but this time it wasn't a typo :-)
TacticalBassin awesome man, never doubted you lol.
Ah ha! I've been wondering what the story was behind that video. Love that video...
Crazy!!! Awesome catch!!
That is wild!
Yes. My reasoning? It happened on BASS Live this year! lol

That’s just awesome.
Did the same thing today on a top water lore, that’s crazy
What if you grabbed the lure or the line when they came up? Would it be legal?
good stuff unreal way to wait and see what happens .....
Would it be legal to keep the fish had you reached in and grabbed the lure only with your hand?
What I was wondering
chris no it's illegal here in California, but they know better than to keep fish CPR all the way
In a tournament is what I believe he was referring to.
I was trying to think of a way to legally keep the fish in a tournament, although I don't know anything about the rules :).
What if you would have reached your hand down there and grab one of the bass would it be OK in a tournament
The coolest thing that ever happened to me was I broke off my favorite lure, a bluegill colored creature bait, tips dyed chartruese, texas rigged with a pinned weight (not a lot of people throw it, it's very unique) and hooked into a fish and broke off. Nice freakin catch tim en unbelievable catch cool
Pretty bad azz story keep um up your doing great big bass I love it
Hey man, absolutely epic. Question, is the 806 enough rod for the 200
