To that one person who automatically dislikes my videos as soon as they are uploaded. I wish you all the success and happiness in your life.
That's sad that someone feels the need to automatically dislike your videos. They truly don't know what they are missing!
@@AlanOnBass65 yes. Their are a few losers on the Yoyoka channel (the 13 year old Japanese girl who plays wonderful drums, many times with her family). I guess that these kind of animals either have nothing to do to get attention or on occasion bitter musicians who probably have little talent and criticize other musicians because it makes them not feel as bad about their lack of success.
You don't really have a channel of any note until you pick up a serial disliker - like a badge of honor. And it's not me either ...
@@bertjones3010 yes. I learned a long time ago as a musician that I would rather be criticized and hated than ignored. The late great jazz trumpeter/composer once said " I would rather be criticized for being the world's worst innovator, than their world's best imatator". Your critics will change as you get older, and find new things to criticize you about.
I guess I got here before the disliker.
This dad must be happy as ever. Never seen a father laugh so much thanks to his daughter. Great connection. Tearful! ❤️.
Hovak, i'll keep in touch in regards with Ellen's interview. I sent an email one month ago. Still in the vault but very soon. You and Ellen with me from France. Stay tuned. Love!
What a great Dad and such an inspirational young daughter, humanity needs this right now, please keep it up.
What a sweet and talented girl! She is a wonderful little human being!
Sir, your daughter is absolutely precious. She's a talented gem who is destined for the stars. I am 47 and have played various other instruments but I've always wanted to play the bass. My first bass arrived today. I found the video of your daughter playing Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder and she has inspired me to learn it too.
The duet you guys did together was awesome and I enjoyed both of you playing. Enjoy those moments because they grow up so fast. Her laugh is infectious and I hope she continues to enjoy playing her music. Take care!
Ellen, you have the BEST laugh EVER! ☺️
Indeed great giggles
You 2 have an amazing relationship. It brings me joy.
She is adorable and interesting even without the Bass, Ellen is so funny.
Ellen is so cute, so filled with joy and so gifted. I don't know if anyone else picked up on it, she began her explanation on how she got started with the word "basically."
You're my absolute favourite, Ellen! I can't wait to see more videos of you singing and playing bass. I know I'm watching a superstar in the making.
One of the nicest channels on UA-cam...The Father and Daughter thing...The talent...Ellen 's great but l enjoy watching her dad play as well...very smooth across the fret board...he makes it look easy...
Ellen your are a beautiful ray of sunshine. You and Dad have an amazing bond ❤
Q: Have you ever heard Victor Wooten play?
Ellen: _in all grown up voice, nodding gently_ we're friends. 🤣
You're so lucky to find your groove so early, Ellen. Best of luck!
That cracked me up, too.
Ellen Listen to some early YES music, with Chris Squire on bass, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th albums , one of the best bass players ever, he was Getty Lee's favorite, i think you will like his creativity! Keep on playing, i have been for 50 years! God bless you, Stay safe! Happy Thanksgiving!
Ellen has a lovely singing voice. The ability to sing and play simultaneously is a wonderful gift.
When I get depressed, I watch your videos. Your energy and genuine happiness picks me up, makes my day. You make me cry, may you get all the blessings life has for you.
She is such a sweetheart. I love watching their videos.
Any kid with a reel-to-reel has my ❤.
What a team! Love you guys!
"Can you sing the bass line?" And with ZERO hesitation, it came right out. The talent starts with a sharp musical mind, and she's got that talent.
She's such an expressive kid! She's very lucky with that dad!
all my respect ... we love You ... greetings from Slovakia
Ellen you are just precious. Dad you are blessed many times over. You're a lucky man
thanks for sharing your interwiew with the special device and the story how she start, all very cool
My goodness you are more adult than an most adults. Love listening to you and all your goodness. Bless you sweetheart and you have a wonderful father for fullfilling your interests.🤩
How not to love a video like this? Father and daughter so naturally being happy. And sharing the moment whit us.
Wow glad You know who Jaco is Ellen! If she hasn’t already let her listen to Havona by Weather Report from the CD Heavy Weather! Havona is Jaco’s masterpiece! It’s great that the kids these days have so much info at their fingertips. I think it makes it easier to learn things!
Ellen my son started just like you... He learned to play "another bites the dust" on bass and it was on from there he's a music 🎶 🎵 producer now take it in stride your a GOAT at what you do, keep on keeping on... We live amongst haters it's like catching a cold 🥶
Love you and your awesome family!! Well done, Mom & Dad!!! Ellen is not only super talented but extremely well-rounded...simply joyful to listen to her play and speak about her playing.
friendly, funny, she can explain it well and can play bass guitar well, and of course the daddy is also very friendly and musical and good relationship with his daughter

As far as female bassist go, if you don't know who Julie Slick is, she is amazing. She is my favorite bass player. She has toured with Adrian Blew, been a part of several other projects, and has her own band called Echo Test. Worth checking out. Love Ellen and her passion for learning and her spunky personality. Keep on being a great star, you will light up the sky... ;)
Yay! Ellen finally got cake. After all of the practise videos, and now it is finally here!
Yesss 😁
Nice to see you ellen play bass and with your father supervision on learning the bass.... Keep Playing, and enjoy the best of it....
She is very talented.
You are both talented and wonderful together. All the very best in your journey.
I love you soooo much!!!! My dog is very sick and I was super sad tonight. I watched this video and it made me smile!! I always smile when I watch your videos :-)
What always amazed me about Tal was that she had only been playing bass for maybe 3.5 - 4 years, prior to doing that Crossroads concert with Jeff Beck. Same with Ellen...she plays so well for being so young and for not having been playing for very long. I can only imagine how much better she'll be in 4 years.
Ellen, you are a very large inspiration to me and a lot of people. i cant play drums anymore due to my health, but i am going to start playing bass guitar because of watching you. never give up, and never lose your smile.
I started piano two years ago, but Bass is a part of my destiny. I sing 2Bass, and I have admired many players, including Chris Squier. I love that Ricky sound.
Twenty Five minutes with a big smile on my face 😂😍
What a wonderful relationship you have with your father!!
I love your family dynamic and your love for music as a family. God bless you always! Keep smiling and spreading love and happiness and positivity through your bass playing! You’re awesome!
What I really like Ellen because she has so much fun in doing what she does. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I hope you will be on TV again. Have a great day 😀
Like I said before someone deleted my comment ,not to many kids get to be on the Steve Harvey show. Ellen whoever dislikes your music and they put it on here well, their either jealous or just dumb. I watch all of your music and I like the questions your Dad reads. You are going places and I hope you make the big time. Ellen you have a good weekend and the dog too. God bless you 🙏
Such a fun video!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I have three daughters - who are now productive adult members of society - and I have a granddaugther too - Ellen reminds me of her and the relationship I now have with her as a granddad is similar to what Ellen has with her dad - love - trust - respect and joy :)
You are a breath of fresh air and happiness. God bless you in the future.
Enjoyed the Q&A. Informative and fun!
You're so positive, talented and bubbly. Congratulations. Love to see you play with Billy Shehan.
Acting lessons, drama teacher, dance school, modeling, etc...Her charisma is outstanding.
Lol.....Ellen is so adorable. I really enjoy all the videos and father daughter interaction together.
Thank you for taking time to answer the questions. It's great to hear so many exciting projects are in the works. I wish you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
Love me some Tal "the shaver" Wilkenfeld! I've also been recently introduced to daddy's videos and you sir are awesome! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! You guys Rock!!
Another great Q&A Ellen and Dad. So happy that you are a fan of Tal like me. I am an Aussie just like her. The videos and music that you and your Dad make, always leave me smiling A LOT. Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving guys! You always make me smile Ellen and Dad too! So fun to see you develop and teach!
It's great to see Ellen and her dad teaching her about all the quality of music but for the father do you like Scott Henderson the guitarist I got to meet him in Cleveland Ohio
absolutely made my day Ellen thank you god bless you all and happy thanksgiving
Your dad must be such a sweet soul, the delicate way he's carrying U on the world stage is inspiring, as your passion for BASS is! Great example of modern living getting the most out of today's technology without all the garbage of social networking, bravi! Much love from Italy!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Ellen....the dog too! :-) As an elementary teacher (grades 2 & 3) it is so good to see a child who is doing something she loves so much. Music is a fantastic thing to have in your life. It touches every other subject you have in school. Keep up the hard work and keep smiling!!
I'm sure Tal Wilkenfeld is a big fan of you too, Ellen! 😉
And Mr. Sklar would be laughing so hard right now hehehe!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Greetings from Netherlands.
You are very talented Ellen with an amazing personality. Every time you post a new video it lights up my life. Keep going. and ignore any negative feedback............those kind of people are the losers in life. Follow your Dad's advice........he's so obviously very talented and a great guy..........so dedicated to ensuring your future success. Also, not forgetting your Mum who has a great talent in making you up to be so presentable. There's a lot of hard work and talent gone into producing such quality videos.
I absolutely love this! You both are an inspiration!
This is yet another video that makes me happy! You 2 are just an awesome father-daughter duo and I'm sure that your mom makes you all a fantastic trio. 🙂Cheers!
For the dad that comes home everyday to see that happy little face to greet you...
I know even without asking it "this the most magical thing is it not".
I was a bassist many years ago, and played modern jazz.
Perhaps at some stage listen to Ray Brown playing with Oscar Peterson. Great lessons in 4/4 timing and innovative bass lines. I only wish someone would have told me about jazz at a young age.
And finally, for a little face and heart that light up other people, keep being this wonderful person.
==BOZE==
por favor, un gran abrazo a tu padre! que es un gran ejemplo del apoyo para los futuros musicos! sos un angel y una bajista genial!!!!! abrazos desde Argentina!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much Ellen & Hovak for another great, honest and happy video. That cake looks really great, by the way. 😋
A question for Ellen, maybe for the next Q&A: Have you heard (of) Tony Levin? He's the bass-player who inspired me. If you haven't yet, I recommend listening to Peter Gabriel's 'So' album, King Crimson's 'Discipline' album (Of course!!!) and 'Bruford-Levin Upper Extremities'. (also, Bill Bruford is one of the world's most amazing drummers. Ever... 👍🖖👋)
“It’s always the bass…” YES it is Ellen! That’s when you know it’s meant to be the passion you follow 💜 you found yours early and inspiring others! I found mine at 50 years old, I’m 64 now and I haven’t stopped playing since. Love your style and heart 💜 ✌️
They have a relationship that not every father/daughter share. Music connects you in a deeper-way. It's the universal language, and one of life greatest gifts. These 2 are so wonderful together, and Ellen is a really good bass player. oNe LovE from NYC
That's the sweetest thing ever, I hope you guy the best!!
Ellen, You are so Blessed. I'm 50 and have been playing Bass since I was 14, I used to play a lot Live, and in studios in LA, although I have not played professionally in a long time. But watching you is inspiring and I so look forward to watching your career explode as I know it will. You are also Blessed to have a father who is so Amazing and who is showing you the best life, and encouraging you to be the best that you can be. you are both so positive, I pray for you both and look forward to more videos.
You guys are great. Thank you.
I was excited to hear that your favorite strings are DRs! I just recently discovered them and they are fantastic! I'm slowly switching over to them on all my acoustic guitars - like 13 of them. Thanks for the confirmation!
Vegas seems to have changed so much over the years. I hope it is a safe place, and a good time for this little darling!
Hi Ellen, I'm 67 years old and I've just started learning bass. Hopefully I'll be at least a quarter as good as you. Greetings from Bad Homburg Germany
Well done you three. I would imagine your all aware of Sina Doering, of Sina Drums on YT. I have followed her from her YT beginning and am always impressed with she and her father n sister collaborating with other young musicians. It would totally incredible if Ellen do a cover with them. Hey..Mom and Dad. I love how you keep the ‘balance’ in life for Ellen snd help her explore via your musical introductions and advice as well as quality instructions.
I have no idea how long ago you immigrated to the USA, but welcome and thank you for helping to make America the safe home for all nations people’s.
I definitely bought that there was something musical in that box! 📦
Don't know how anyone can dislike these videos? Bless you and yours continue the great work!🙂👍
All your videos are fun to watch. Enjoyed this very much.
Ellen your videos always make me smile.
Hi Ellen I love your videos you are already a great bass player and I believe you will learn a lot.
Congratulations continue this loving and talented girl.
Ellen, you are a blessing from God.
These are very wholesome, nice to see.
That's funny because I found Tal on UA-cam which led me to Ellen. I was amazed by both artists you are both fantastic.
Wholesome ❤️
@ 8:15 or so...I think i hear Ellen answer, "I am from Armenia'. ?? ... is that right?.... Wow! Guess Hovak moved the family at some very-early point in Ellen's life; So glad you guys got to the States! I'm from Las Vegas. Grew up there ( many decades ago) In Reno, NV now. Blessings and Cheers to you Both! Love this Channel!
Love this Journey!
So glad to find out you're a fan of Tal.
I'd never heard of her till I saw the Jeff Beck live at Ronnie Scott's dvd. Awesome player, just like you SisDVD.
Love this channel, keep Rockin!

parabéns vocês dois são fofos, Deus abençoe Ellen e seu papai..
Vous êtes magnifiques tous les deux, votre complicité père-fille est magnifique, longue vie à vous à votre musique !
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well, you made my day with your smile and laughter. Now get to the cake session is over lol
I PRAY YOU HAVE A NICE THANKSGIVING
GOD BLESS
Thanks!
Thanks for reminding some of us why we learned to play in the first place.
Super GREAT Rock!!! Thank You!!!(
Oh, and... Do you know the "Thunder" album that Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller & Victor Wooten recorded together? That's a really amazing album. And an interesting exercise for a talented young bass-player is to see if you can identify who of these three absolute legends is playing which part. Identifying each of them by their sound, style and feel. 😉
(Personally i always love it when Mr Miller plays the bass-clarinet. Which he also does on some of his solo-albums. Such a wonderful, deep and warm sound. ... But i digress ...)
One aspect of learning music, (or learning anything, really), is that the more you learn, the more you become aware of how much _more_ there is to discover and learn. The trick is not to become overwhelmed or intimidated by this realisation. Instead just follow your heart and, especially, your curiosity. 🖖
I have the exact bass as Ellen only in white, the Sterling by MusicMan Stingray short scale bass. They are awesome! I am a mature adult and the Sterling is a good size for me.
