a jack of all trades AND a man of (ps1) culture. I grew up with dark ps1 games like silent hill and shadowman and I really like your style. your music is cool too, can't help but think of bladerunner whenever i hear a cs-80 wailing. keep up the awesome work.
8:48 for anyone wondering why the extruded edges snap together, you need to turn on clipping under mirror modifier. took me a while to figure that out. thanks so much for the tutorial! would be also great to see what keys you're pressing since blender relies heavily on keyboard shortcuts. cheers!
YT is cruelty not letting me respond to a comment asking on where I got the reference image. Unfortunately I erased the project file and so I can't track the image back. However I did find one just like it. Like the image I used I cropped it a bit but here is the link to the image. 'Ill also put it in the description. Great tutorial series, thank you!! Also, I'm definitely in love with the soundtrack you used in this one in particular, any chance to find it anywhere??
Sorry for the late repose but you know…life. Anyway, most of the music I use can be found rite here on UA-cam. If you go into your “UA-cam Studio” and then go to Audio “Audio Library” you can find most of the music I use. Most of the music on this vid is mine ,and can be found on my soundcloud which the link is here: soundcloud.com/mikeroesound. Here are the songs that I have on my computer that you can get from the “Audio Library” : 0:00 - 3:13 = “Lusciousness” 3:14 - 4:23 = MINE: “Putrid Carrion” 4:23 - 6:16 = MINE…I don’t know what song this is…. 6:17 - 9:26 = MINE “Beyond Ones Reality” 9:31 - 13:54 = MINE “Rain Under A Bridge” 13:24 - 21:54 = MINE “Erased From Memory” 14:05 - 15:30 = MINE some rendition of “Stress And Tension” Basically intro with no guitar 15:33 - 21:54 = MINE “Rain Under A Bridge” 18:36 - end = “Lusciousness” All my songs should be available for download free of charge if you want to use them. If not let me know.
Wow, thanks a lot!! So you're a musician too? Aagh, I hate you people able to do everything! I'm 30 yo and it took my my entire life to become a good 2D artist, and now it seems almost impossible to me this 3D stuff ahah Anyways, congrats for these songs then, beautiful work!!
hey mike. great tutorial. im having troubles at around @14:01 when you add a cube. i added the cube and chose mirror modifier but then only 1 cube appears when I move the cube. can u please help me with that? thank you
Hay Travis! Let’s run threw some ideas . We will starts small and work our way up to the complex ones. 1: The first possibility is that it mod is working, but you you are viewing it from an angle that the mod is not mirroring. For example: check to see what axis your mirror mod is set to. If it is set to the X (which would be ticked if so) then snap to the X view by hitting the 1 key on your numb pad. Once there move your cube. If it is still not moving and you are viewing it from the axis that it should be moving to then let’s go down the the next selection. 2:The next thing to ask would be if you are in edit mode when you move the cube after you make it. Simple I know but we can start there. 3:The other thing to consider is if the mod is visible or not. We can check this by going over to the modifier tab. Once there look at your modifier, confirm that it’s the mirror mod then after that lets make sure some of the visibility options are highlighted. To find them look at the mod and you should see (at the top) a long gray/black box with the word “Mirror” in it. What we want is to the left of that. There are a total of 4 selections. Make sure the first three are highlighted. After those are selected ( or are) select your cube and go into edit mode, then move your cube around and see it it is working. Let me know how those go. If not Let me know and we will work on the solution.
@@mikeroegames thank you so much mike. ive managed to finish the tutorial. great work. gonna be watching the rest of your low poly playlist to make a ps1 character. thank you once again :D
I’ll more than likely start working on a pack of stuff after the stuff for my up comping podcast I’m working is done. For now I just don’t have the time just yet.
If I am reading you right it sounds like you are referring to the UV tab. This is where you can move your mesh around to fit on your photo. If you look up at the top of your screen you should see a bunch of tabs up top (Im also guessing that your using a newer version of Blender) one of them will be called "UV Editing", its to the right of the "Sculpting" tab. If you click on that you will see You UVs. Assuming that you have imported your photo in Blender and you don't see it, there are two buttons to note here. New and Open. Open lets you bring a photo in if you want. But if you want to bring in a photo you already have there is a dropdown next to the "New" button. This brings up a list of all the images in your project. Select the one you want. The "Texture Paint" tab to the left of the "UV Editor" tab lets you directly pain on your photo. I hope this helps, if not let me know.
@@mikeroegames Thanks for informing me! another question, when I am done with the modeling and I want to make it a file and come back to it later how do I exactly import it? I remember making a test file and I tried importing it and it would not import? Any clue?
@@junkosdoll ah yes, what you will do is export it so you can bring it into another project later. After saving it (so you always have the original) go to file, which is located at the top left of the screen, click it, and you should see the “Export” button near the bottom of the drop down. Next you will select the file type. I normally go with obj. That is the file you can import back into blender. Keep in mind that for the best results select Everything you want to export before exporting. And in the exporting options, there is a tick box that reads “Selected Only”. Tick this if you only want to export specific things. Options like FBX are good for Unity imports. Those files you can use to make Unity animations.
@@mikeroegames Sorry if I keep asking questions but I think I may have made a mistake while in the making of my low poly character. I was at the last step of finishing the torso but my characters collar bone area are shaded and dark gray-ish. If this is a mistake I have made do you have any clue?
@@junkosdoll Yes! Your faces are flipped. Here is how you fix it. In edit mode select the face that is darkened. After it is selected go to you need to go to the "Mesh Selection". This is located to the right of the buttons where you toggle between "Vectors, Lines, and Faces". After you click it there will be a drop down. From there you will see a "Normals" option. From there you will see a "Flip" option at the top of the list. You will need to do this to every face that is flipped. But yo can do multiple at once.

Oh! Thanks for bringing it up. It’s funny how the simple things are easy to not mention after they become second nature.
You completely saved my life with these videos. I been searching for so long for this tutorials! Thank you! :)
You bet, I’m glad they helped.
Loving these types of videos for ps1 stuff
Hand painted textures all the way. Great video.

Smash that keyboard 😂
Very nice tutorial! I am some what new at blender, what key do you click to look directly straight into the photo template?
