I've had my 4th gen monster for a year now and wear it almost every day. It's bold but not quite as silly as the old monster. Feels like a monster that graduated university

"choosing the old monster used to mean you were going with something different with a lot of intention" What an interesting and insightful statement! It's this kind of synthesis, the ability to understand and articulate the implications of a watch's design, rather than simply enumerate the elements of said design, that sets W&W apart! Well done!

best wristwatch reviewer out there, the thought put into reviewing the case is nuts. GO GO W&W

Thanks for the thoughtful critique! I have a first generation Black Monster and still enjoy the quirky, unique design, but I appreciate your observations about the refinement and adult style of the fourth generation.

This actually feels like a well thought out review. Unlike a lot of other reviewers who just read out the spec sheet and say if they like it or not.

Hi W&W, I like the way the present the watch. Concise, full of facts and your opinion. Will be getting one for my son on his birthday. Thanks.

Just ordered one of these. I have one 1st gen and five 2nd gen but this new one with this beautiful dial caught my eye. Good review

Nice review. Put my v1 Monster onto a shark mesh strap recently. To my eye, it transforms the watch (relative to using rubber strap) - think it subtly tones down some of that wild look (particularly with the orange dial). But still super eye-catching.

This version is more wearable as a daily beater than the previous versions. I didn't like it when it was first introduced but it somehow grew on me over time. Yes, it's a subdued monster which is definitely more amicable or affable.

Really fine piece of watch journalism. I went into this review not caring for the Monster. By the end, I find myself considering this new version, although I'll probably save my money and pick up the new SPB151.

I'm wondering why you never mentioned the lug width but you have it written as 20mm. I was under the impression it was 22mm can you verify that? Thanks 😊

I just got this watch and love it and love this color out of the 4 versions out. I just got it size from a watch ship and glad I didn’t do it myself with a paper clip bc I didn’t know it was tough with 2 pins and one being a really tiny one.
I still haven’t worn it out bc I bought a bunch of new watches and just had this sized. So I’m not sure why the lumi os not that bright and may need real sunlight over room light? Also, is the limo brightness the same as the PADI version or are all the monsters from the 4th. Gen. suppose to be the same? (SRPE27)

Nice review. Seiko's are becoming more and more expensive but remains to be one of the more affordable watch makers in the world with great quality & performance, and they continue to bring us new designs after decades. With that said, there are some fabulous Micro-brands providing tough competition with superior build quality at very competitive pricing, which is great when you want some diversification in your collection and doesn't restrict you to a limited line of brands. Competition seem's to be getting more and more fierce which is great because it drives up quality while controlling prices s bit. The only downside to Micro-brands is that you need to stay on top of new releases as they tend to sell out fast, especially if one particular style is trending. But that's what makes the watch market interesting & fun is the dynamic movements in the market relating to new releases combined with supply & demand. This can be good news on occasion as it will sometimes keep the bigger manufacturers in check with overpricing. This Seiko SRPD25 looks amazing and has been on my radar for awhile and will definitely become part of my future purchases, love the dive watches, especially the Prospex line which has great looking angles on the case. Thanks for the review.

Concise review, have you done this before? Surely well edited. Though I was hoping to have a few details described that weren't. The indices at times appear white and in other lighting appear to have an aged look. The bezel sometimes appears black but often seems more gray or charcoal like. The rehaute is curved, right? That's an unusual feature and it appears to actually be part of the dial. Great smile, btw.

When you say "Somewhat normal" you have to remember there is nothing on the market today that looks like it, save maybe the baby Tuna. I wonder if it is your experience with three previous generations of monsters that make you lose the WTF factor when you see one. I for one think that the non-watch loving public might still see it as a conversation piece, if ever they are inclined to speak about watches in the first place.
