As a fellow astrologist I am very impressed by the very aggressive early mage tactics on show :O Elden Ring is my first game from this franchise so it took me a while to learn the melee combat XD You did an amazing play through of Demon’s Souls so I thought I’d see what you made of Elden Ring ^_^
@@Emmalition well it was payday for my new job I guess so that went quicker than expected. I’m excited to see how my playthrough develops compared to yours/others’. So much possibility with the open world I’m hours in now and still yet to beat a boss but I’ve uncovered so much of the map
I’ve been really enjoying watching Fanta’s adventures in Bloodborne and now I’m here for the Elden Ring. I actually went the same route as you in trying out the Astrologer build since I’ve never messed with magic before in the souls games. After about 17 hours I’m finally figuring out the groove of it and how to level and sort my flasks/spells. It’s really fun but a learning curve. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do!
That is great to hear! I'm not going to lie to you, I copped out of Astrologer because it just felt so unnatural to me and restarted with a Vagabond. Keen to pickup some magic along the way though for a mix of both!
@@Emmalition Haha. You have to play what’s fun for you and, in your case, allows you play at a speed good for content so no worries. This game seems to have plenty of options so no doubt you can still get a bit of magic along the way.
Hey, Emma! Love your vids as usual! Someone probably already mentioned it, but to backstab an enemy, you have to press R1. Bloodborne had the charged R2 attack to stagger enemies, but Elden Ring is more like Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, and uses R1. For Elden Ring, I could never get the hang of parrying, but the guard counter you’ve been using (hood block and when an enemy hits your shield, press R2) is such a great addition! I’ve really been loving this game so far. I’m about 20 or so hours in at this point, I think? Anyway, can’t wait to see you play more!
Whenever I watch the intro cinematic, where there's that crescendo and the narrator has an orgasm and says "AAAAAAaaaaa.... rise now ye tarnished" I still get goosebumps. Holy shit that cinematic is fantastic! Best one of the bunch I think.

When it comes to content creators like yourself, I'd rather you get to fully have that freedom, fun, and self expression with the character creation. Take however long you want to as long as it isn't inconvenient for you with recording. You can always edit a portion out if you think it's too long! We'll understand. :] What I've seen other creators do is dedicate an entire video to just the character creation for the people that care to see it, that way you also won't have to worry about it being too long. I normally spend AT LEAST an hour or two creating my character just the way I want them lol. The feeling of having the perfect character FOR YOU is amazing.

@@Emmalition Yep, no problem. 😁 And LOL I completely understand that. If you do start over, then I recommend the Prisoner class! I saw that you said you wanted something mixed, melee and magic. The class is a great choice for that, they call it the "swordspell" class. It's a Dex-Intelligence hybrid; the Estoc is a fun and good starting dex weapon and you have some nice magic right off the bat. You wanna focus on getting Vigor/Mind/End to a comfortable place, then you can just pump the rest of your ruins into Int/Dex (other stats as needed). I've been having a ton of fun with it, I recommend it! So much cool gear and sorcery to find and different ways to use your intelligence stat while being a badass with a sword.
The trick to doing critical hits (backstabs, hitting after a stagger, etc.) is to get in position, make sure you aren't moving (i.e. let go of left stick) and _then_ hit R1. If you're moving, the game interprets it as a regular hit. If you're wondering, "in position" means standing in front of the enemy and facing them to punish a stagger, or standing behind and facing them for a backstab.
I started Elden Ring at launch, got about 20 or so hours in and fell off. Was really enjoying it, but life just got in the way. Coming back to this now as I've just started a new playthrough. Starting off with the Samurai class and going to go for a Dex ) Arcane type build to make use of the Bleed Effect. Really looking forward to it! Will watch along while I play, at least until I get as far as I was! Loved your Bloodborne Let's Play. 🎮💪
The depraved class is single-handedly the best class to start with. This is because it has the most balanced stats. Sure it doesn’t have any starting equipment or armor, but the balance stats make up over the long-term. Because you will tend to find some weapon or magical skill and will most likely change your character overtime. This will allow you to put in points into particular stats That you actually want. The other classes aren’t bad but you already need to know what you’re going to build ahead of time.
There are a lot of Elden Ring playthrough's coming out on UA-cam right now and I'm gonna struggle to watch all of the channels I want to... I'll come back to some of the others but I've decided this is one of the ones I'm definitely watching right off the bat!

If you hold your weapon with both hands it makes your attacks much stronger. Press triangle and R1 together to go from one handed to both handed and vice versa.
How time flies since playing E,R on release think what's special for me is it was the first fromsoft game i played on release with hundreds of other tarnished..and now I can look forward to playing the DLC in the same manner...just spent the last two weeks getting a caster n melee builds ready for it.

Your first caster build? Nice, fun class. Might I impart two bits of sage advice and one little mentioned game mechanic? Firstly you want a sidearm, a fun dex scaling fast weapon, you want to build some dex because dex speeds up spell while strength does nothing for you. Secondly flasks, you have been kicking arse in Bloodbourne so I'd split them 50/50 and dodge, you can always change it up depending on how you feel. Lastly groups, hardly mentioned but perfect for content creators, you can have up to five group passwords active in the multiplayer menu, everyone who shares in your password can see your messages clearer, be summoned easier and have their spirits and bloodstains seen easier. If you would like to set up your own group I'd gladly join, it'd be an honor to one day fight beside the legendary Fanta. If you do or not I'd still like to formally extend an invitation to VaatiVidya's SEEKERS, simply put SEEKERS into any of your group slots.

I started as a Samurai, something new to the series. Felt like I got a massive boost as it starts with a weapon that inflicts bleed, which a lot of enemies are weak too at least early game. Plus the bow and fire arrows are great help. I haven't seen anyone pick Astrologer though! will be fun watching

Great Video Emma, excited to see more of Elden Ring and what can do as a magic wielder. I think the feeling is different with this one because the last souls games you've played had been out for some time so there was a wealth of knowledge of where to go if you were stuck and seeing how others approached areas in the game. Obviously I’m about to start playing it, but it’s open world so you might set off in a different direction to me, and see things I’d rather not see until I encounter them personally. Hello Emma. Watching you're tutorial because I just switch to Astrologer (from Samurai) because melee can be brutal early on. Enjoying it very much so far, and by the way you are excellent at dodging!

It's fun to start a new game. There's all kinds of information during the tutorial and I usually remember a very small percentage 😄 It's nice that the demonstration boss at the end is nothing hard and you can move on. The DS3 tutorial boss is often a frustrating multiple try for people. Looks like a great game so far!
If the tutorial boss is so easy, then how come there are so many blood stains around the area? 😂 but yes, a lot easier than the dark souls three tutorial boss.

Glintstone Arc is FP inefficient for single targets, you should really only use it for large groups. Just use Glintstone Pebble repeatedly for single targets, it's fast to cast and quite efficient
I do think all "souls" games specifically say "most of the enemies" will be revived when resting because of course bosses do not return. :) I will say, you have to 2 hand your weapon to use its Special Ability, that's why you could only parry while using your shield in 1 hand. :) (DS3 used this mechanic as well, which this game borrows from) I do hope you figure out the back stabbing. Because this game 110% has it. And it is pretty useful.
So I'm exploring Limgrave's open world I came across an area called the Gatefront Ruins and I'm having trouble clearing it of enemies. I mean I'm able to clear the trash mobs but I'm always stuck on the elite knight who is a damage sponge I keep getting killed by him one instance I had him almost close to death and he still owned me. I'm playing as Confessor class. Maybe I'm not used to the attack patterns so that's why sometimes I take damage when I fight. I think his name is called Godrick Elite Knight.

Maybe in a few days I'll be deep into the game, and I'll come back to see your progress. 😊 In my opinion, after you get the essentials you should ignore the grace guidance, and explore. It will probably be more fun. Magic changes only based on your stats BTW.

@@Emmalition Early reports by official reviews say a person following the guidance will miss a lot. Possibly 80% to 90% missed because that is how much is optional. That's if you stay the path from the start. The guidance supposedly changes if you move off that path, but I don't know how that operates yet. Either way when I enter that world I'm getting lost, and I'm going to love every minute of it.

"Stele" is an ancient greek (and/or latin) word which designate a huge and tall stone/wooden slab monument.
Usually the most known stele is the Rosetta Stone, which has been the key to understanding ancient Egyptian and Demotic languages. In fact the stele had the same text translated in 3 langues, latter being Ancient Greek, which was still comprehended at the time the Stone was found (during Napoleon's campaign in Egypt, 1798-1799)
Summary: huge old tall stone monument = stele

Great Video Emma, excited to see more of Elden Ring and what can do as a magic wielder.
I think the feeling is different with this one because the last souls games you've played had been out for some time so there was a wealth of knowledge of where to go if you were stuck and seeing how others approached areas in the game. For Elden Ring everyone is in the same boat it seems.

Damn, I’m so torn right now Emmalicious, you know how much I love watching your playthroughs but I’ve just got the game myself and I’ve succeeded in avoiding watching all trailers and spoilers so far. Obviously I’m about to start playing it, but it’s open world so you might set off in a different direction to me, and see things I’d rather not see until I encounter them personally. It wouldn’t be so bad if the game was linear because you don’t post too often and I know I could stay ahead of your timeline. Argggghhhh! I’ll just have to binge watch all your Elden Ring videos once I’ve completed the game. Sorry 😩 (first time I’ve used the unhappy emoji in your comments). @smv1990 it's a good games there is alot of stuff u can easily miss out on while playing like quests items I like watching the playrhrough while I play myself ill only watch the areas I alrdy did myself though.

It's fun to start a new game. There's all kinds of information during the tutorial and I usually remember a very small percentage 😄 It's nice that the demonstration boss at the end is nothing hard and you can move on. The DS3 tutorial boss is often a frustrating multiple try for people. Looks like a great game so far!

If the tutorial boss is so easy, then how come there are so many blood stains around the area? 😂 but yes, a lot easier than the dark souls three tutorial boss.
You've probably realized by now, but you didn't actually do the backstab. You need to get closer than you did and press/hold R1

Glintstone Arc is FP inefficient for single targets, you should really only use it for large groups. Just use Glintstone Pebble repeatedly for single targets, it's fast to cast and quite efficient
I do think all "souls" games specifically say "most of the enemies" will be revived when resting because of course bosses do not return. :)
I will say, you have to 2 hand your weapon to use its Special Ability, that's why you could only parry while using your shield in 1 hand. :) (DS3 used this mechanic as well, which this game borrows from) I do hope you figure out the back stabbing. Because this game 110% has it. And it is pretty useful.

Skipped through the character creation to here and JESUS CHRIST SHE LOOKS LIKE DARTH SIDIOUS
So I'm exploring Limgrave's open world I came across an area called the Gatefront Ruins and I'm having trouble clearing it of enemies. I mean I'm able to clear the trash mobs but I'm always stuck on the elite knight who is a damage sponge I keep getting killed by him one instance I had him almost close to death and he still owned me. I'm playing as Confessor class. Maybe I'm not used to the attack patterns so that's why sometimes I take damage when I fight. I think his name is called Godrick Elite Knight.
Sorry for my ranting on your channel. I ran past things and have basically been obsessed with this game for the last week lol.

In my opinion, after you get the essentials you should ignore the grace guidance, and explore. It will probably be more fun. Magic changes only based on your stats BTW.

@@Emmalition Early reports by official reviews say a person following the guidance will miss a lot. Possibly 80% to 90% missed because that is how much is optional. That's if you stay the path from the start. The guidance supposedly changes if you move off that path, but I don't know how that operates yet. Either way when I enter that world I'm getting lost, and I'm going to love every minute of it.
