If I lived in that climate I would want to go to Florida in the winter as well. It’s nice that you have that option and in one day of driving you can escape the brutal cold. Great video.
Have a great trip, the Shenandoah Valley route down I-81 is a pleasant drive ... gets faster and more congested as you go further east and south ... watch the merges as they love to lane-block in Florida.
Great video. I did the same trip down on March 9th with my wife and 10 year old. I had to wait around for a school ski day to end, then for my wife to finish work at 5:30. I picked up the whole family and we were out of Carleton Place by 5:45 and drove all night. Boy did we hit traffic going into Florida. I was surprise there was essentially no snow on the US side (crossed at 1000 Islands like you). I took 81 and then cut down 15 through Gettysburg, right through DC (note - lots of construction), then onto 95. My favourite route continues to be to stay on 81 and start to make the cutover to 95 on 66 past Winchester, then the 17/15 route joining i95 at Fredericksburg. I couldn't get over all the new highways, roads, and railways being built all over Florida. Gas was around $3.20 average - highest in NY and lowest in Georgia. Like you we took our thermal mugs with boiling hot tea from Ottawa - still hot at 3am Kid skied all day, slept like a baby in the 3rd row in his pijamas, tablet on a swivel holder for movies, stuff bears, blanket and pillow. Fell asleep before Watertown and woke up in Rocky Mount North Carolina Such an easy drive if you have some patience and a good roadtrip partner!
Thanks for the great feedback ... lots of routes to chose from but the nicest drive seems to be on the I-81 for me - further south and east you go the more traffic and congestion ... good to hear you had a safe trip.
good video we are planning on taking pretty much the same route to daytona beach in july bucket list road trip for us......we are 2 hours west of ottawa in deep river...we to are going to make 2 stops toget to our destination....first day being a friday after after work start will travel 8 to 9 hours and stop in lower pensyvania then in walterboro sc then third dat drive the rest to our hotel in daytona i to hope to make a few videos of our trip...really enjoyed your other road trip videos to floria as well
Communist canukastan. Lol. How true. My kind of guy as well with the RV coming into your lane. We are in the Hamilton area so go the Buffalo , I90, I79 route but luckily leave in early November and return late April. Have a place in Dunedin. Really liked how you informed on what highway and state you were on and side notes. Thanks and safe travelling.

Hi, did you drive down with winter tires?
Great video, thinking of similar trips to the US. Love their gas prices
Got for it, US gas prices, speed limits and highways are great ... keeo it between the ditchez.

Hey thx for watching and taking time to comment ... hope you have a good trip in July.
Good Holiday Inn Express off i81 before you hit Harrisburg, otherwise there is a decent Days Inn in Winchester
You only go through a little sliver of Maryland and West Virginia when taken I-81
Yes, that's true ... thx for watching.
