- Steam beta is now available on ChromeOS. Find out how to install the Steam Linux beta app on your Chromebook. Follow this step-by-step guide to get Steam beta on your ChromeOS computer.
It was only back in April that Steam Linux Alpha was available to install. Just seven months on and you can now install Steam Linux Beta. A more stable version, which should give you better gameplay.
Also, Steam Beta now supports a wider selection of Chromebooks, so if you were unable to use Steam Linux Alpha because of this, you may now be in luck.
The Steam Linux App is far better than the experience you get from installing Steam directly on Linux. Although you may still have to use that method if your Chromebook isn't supported by the Steam Linux Beta App. You will find the Steam Linux app is more stable and offers better gameplay.
To check out the Chromebooks compatible take a look at my blog post below:

If your Chromebook is not supported by the Linux app. You can install Steam as a Linux program. Find out how to do this by watching the video below:

Just tried this on my new chromebook plus and worked perfectly , now let's see how good it is. Thanks for your help
Thanks, hope it works all ok for you.
Alot of the games I play are running perfectly so am happy with that , only pinball FX doesn't which I did doubt as some of the consoles struggle with that game.
I have other methods but is nice to be able to play the majority of my library on the Chromebook.
I'm glad you're able to play most of your games now on your Chromebook.
hey can you make an updated version of your old video called how to fix erros while installing steam on chrome OS
After switching to beta and going to flags I type in borealis and nothing comes up
Have you checked whether your Chromebook is compatible?
@@ChromeComputingTV what do you mean by that? i have 64 bits dosent that work??
i have the same problem- sucks that op didnt say anything to your reply
Go to Google and type Chromebooks compatible with Steam Linux Alpha Chrome OS. You should find articles that give a list of the Chromebooks that can use it. Having a 64 bit Chromebook doesn't really mean much in relation to having enough performance to run Steam Linux Alpha. You ideally need Intel i5 eleventh generation with 8GB RAM as a minimum.
I didn't reply because UA-cam has only just sorted out the facility for me to even know someone has replied to a comment.
That’s looks cool 😎
Yes, we are definitely getting closer to true local gaming on a Chromebook.
I’m going to try this out 😃👍
How can you do this without Linux? I can’t find the vid for it but I’ve been trying extremely hard to find out how
If you don't have Linux, you can try this video.

Your Chromebook may not be compatible.
@@ChromeComputingTV i see thx for telling me this
I’m on 110 and it doesn’t show up
Not available anymore can you update it please thank you
The method to install Steam Beta has not changed. Are you using a compatible Chromebook?
When I search up borealis it says no matching experiments
Have you checked your Chromebook is compatible.
Steam isn’t showing up, can someone help?
its because you firstly need to download a steam file on the site
can you help me because the beta channel is not working ma
I can't help with individual issues. I hope you get it sorted.
So on my flags i cant see anything when i search up that
You might not be using a Chromebook that is compatible with Steam Beta.
How Much Storage I Need To Install Steam?
I'm not 100% certain how much space it takes up. You also need to consider the games you want to install as well. Make your Linux partition as big as possible, which will depend on your overall ChromeOS storage. Just make sure you leave some for ChromeOS.
@@ChromeComputingTV i can't install steam due to aue date ends update so i got know it takes 6 gb
It didn’t work
the owner of the computer wont let me change
You need to be logged into the owner account.
wish it worked
Try this if it does not work. You no longer need to go into beta channel.
