- This video provides a detailed build of the Twisted Hobbies 32” Edge 540 including landing gear. After the build is complete there will be a maiden flight followed by a flight review. There is a surprise ending near the end of the video, don’t miss it! :)
Thanks for the great video - and thanks for not ruining it by putting loud EDM in the pauses between speech, at three times the volume!
You're welcome
This video is by far better than the sketchy instructions that you have to download. Also those tiny control rod connectors are even more frustrating than the manual. Lol but all in all once it's done, fun airplane!
Thanks for taking the time to document.
Thank you. I’m fairly certain that this detailed build will be useful for most other TH plane builds. Good detail and commentary .
Glad it was helpful!
Great video of build and flight. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but thinking about it and I probably should’ve been an arborist because I’m in the trees half the time myself. Good luck with your plane.
Great vid my friend. I love these planes but they are a pain to build properly and very off putting if you havent done them before. These vids help so much. Great job bud👌🏼new supporter here from the uk ❤❤❤
Great video! Been following it along as I build mine. Should be done by Saturday. It'll be my trainer, and if it survives, it'll eventually become a 3D trainer. :)
It's a tough plane. I have over 100 flights on it now. Its tricky when flying in wind sometimes.
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815 Gotta be honest... nearly done, and I will NEVER build another. This thing is such a POS. I'm amazed it holds together as flimsy as it is.
@@robgoffroad You may want to consider the Twisted Hobbies full size, full fuse MX2. It may be more your speed. It's a very stable aircraft and has a great glide slope. The MX2 is not flimsy at all, it's one of my fav. It was my first plane from Twisted Hobbies and I didn't make a build video for it. I may purchase another one so I can do a build video.
Good video. I subscribed.👍🏻
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for this 🙏🏻
You're welcome!
That notch is for people like me that glue tails on upside down on flat foamies lol
Good on you Dude 😎 thanks
You bet
Hi very nice and informative video
Could you please tell me what receiver you are using.
Thankyou and happy landings
I just used the twisted hobbies 6 channel DSMX/DSM2 crack pro receiver.
Excellent Video George thank you!! I needed the help brother.
Looking back do you think you needed to glue the extensions onto the servo arms for the elevator and Rudder? I was thinking about just using the longer arms that came with.
Thank you again !
You can get by without the extensions; however, your total control surface throws will be less. If you really get into 3D you will want the added control.
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815 I just got back from maidening the crack yak!
I REALLY like it. It's a much better 3d plane that the erratix and is easier to hover than the Mamba. I get 6-1/2 minutes of flight from a 600mah. I did cheat and I put a Spektrum receiver in there for telemetry and I set the gyro to only do a wings level on 1 setting....no AS3X.
Thanks again brother!
ya a mini crack at 22 in is what u wanted for size.to bad value hobby doesnt make a 22 in they r a third the price of twisted.good job on the build,i got no patience and messed up my mini pitts during build but wont compare to what ill do to it when i try n fly it lol
i'd suggest using all 5min epoxy for things like this.. this way you can build and fly same day instead of taking days or weeks to get an ARF foamy in the air.. better yet, use the proper CA and kicker to make assembly swift and solid.. no doubt epoxy is best in some places.. motor mount, spar, etc... but the rest would be fine wit CA and kicker.. also, i'd guess the 100mm gear location was a "squawk" fixing the factory cut position's tendency to noseover.. even on pavement.. as seen on other "scale" tail draggers.. sometimes the weights just dont scale properly when coupled with physics.. that's why many models are "stand off" scale with little fixes like gear angle/position, etc.. i agree gear looks like it could use a little updating to be used.. otherwise.. nice build.. ditch the slow epoxy except for when absolute strength matters most.. then limit to 30 minute.. it's not like you are hanging a real Lycoming on it..
What Brand CG balancer is that in the video?
I use the Multiplex CG Gauge or Multiplex Center of Gravity Balance Scale. If you google both of these titles you should see multiple places to order.
hi!! what glue do you use?
In the video there are several different glues that are used for different parts of the build. Which glue type are you referring?
What glue brand do you use for all of body foam joints? it’s a normal CA or foam safe, want to know the brand of glue that I need to buy
I'm in Gatlinburg...where are you? I fly in Sevierville, House Mountain, and Morristown...
I have flown at House Mountain but mostly in my backyard. I am not sure if I will rename my UA-cam channel since we left our hearts in Tennessee but I will have some new videos coming soon from my backyard in Florida. There is a lot of water around here so I may do some water plane builds. I have a very exciting project I am working on now that will be a very interesting build and requires multiple motors. My most recent tiny biplane build will be coming up soon as well. Once I join the AMA club here in FL I will do a flight video of my new Addiction XL V2 built just before leaving Tennessee.
What are the electronic specs?
Please check with the manufacturer. I don't work for them. I just do this for 😁
Why did you use wooden spars?
That's part of the kit.
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815 ok, I have the Hacker Edge 540 v3 32” and they don’t have a wooden one.
That is a 3D plane my friend. Your flying it like a sport cub s
That's because I purchased and built this plane to learn 3D flying. It takes time. The plane has been awesome to learn with and I now have about 75 flights on it and have gone through a few batteries. I'm not an expert 3D flyer yet but am a whole lot closer thanks to this plane. I am almost ready to risk flying my Addiction XL V2 that I built in 2021.
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815there’s no wrong way to fly. As long as you’re enjoying yourself, you’re doing it right.
True, I built this plane to learn 3D flying. It's been incredibly fun to fly and can take a beating while learning 3D. Glad you loved the video enough to comment. This plane had definitely helped me to learn a lot of great maneuvers before I started moving on the the large 60+ inch balsa planes. Next year I hope to be moving on to a 100" Edge!
If you want a tru 3D trainer, get the Crak Yak. None better. Little hint, these planes turn better with rudder. Flat turn is key.
@@jeffatkins8103 Check out my Crack Yak build and vids. Yes it's a very fun plane and it's pretty cool to learn crazy stunts flying it in 15 knot winds. It's crazy windy half the time.
Can't believe you made such a long video about a simple build and some crappy flying.
Thank you for the comment. I have many more coming. :) Building is as much fun as flying.
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815 Strong work George. Keep kill'n em with kindness.
@hazes22 I guess we all can't be expert builders and flyers like you... There wasn't anything wrong with the video length or flying. This video will help others build thats not familiar with some building techniques. Great video, keep up the good work!!!
@@georgessmokymountainrc5815 That's right building is just as much fun as flying,j/s
