Anantomical position of femur
1. Head is directed medially, upward and forward.
2. Anterior surface of the shaft is convex and lies obliquely.
3. Linea aspera lies posteriorly.
4. Pattelar surface lies anteriorly in the lower end.
Upper End
1. Head
2. Neck
3. Greater trochantor
4. Lesser trochantor
5. Intertrochanteric line
6. Intertrochanteric crest
7. Quadrate tubercle
8. Trochanteric fossa
9. Gluteal tuberosity
10. Spiral line
Shaft
1. Three border ( Medial, Lateral and posterior)
2. Three surfaces ( Anterior, medial and lateral)
Lower end
1. Two surfaces ( Patellar surface and tibial surface)
2. Two condyl ( Medial and lateral)
3. Two epicondyl ( Medial and lateral)
4. Aductor tubercle
5. Two supracondylar lines ( Medial and lateral)
