    In this video tutorial we will take a look at how the names of the muscles of the human body are derived. Learning and understanding the terminology and definition of anatomical terms is one of the most basic skills every student needs to acquire, so they can describe and discuss anatomical issues in lectures and courses with other students or lecturers in a precise fashion.
    We will take a closer look and give examples for how muscles are named after their shape, size, muscle fibre orientation, action, and more, so you will become fluent in talking about the different aspects of the muscular system.

    2. Word roots and meaning
    3. 2 or more muscles using said characteristic
    1a.Shape
    2a.Deltoid: triangle
    Orbicularis: circular
    Rhombus: rhombus/parallelogram
    Platus: flat and wide
    Serrare: saw
    3a. Deltoid muscle: is triangular in shape
    Orbicularis oculi muscle: circular in shape
    1b. Size
    2b. Vastus: great
    Maximus: largest/greatest
    Minimus: least/smallest
    Longus: long/tall
    Brevis: short
    3b. Gluteus maximus muscle: large in size
    Longus capitis muscle: long
    1c. Orientation of fibers
    2c. Transverse: perpendicular
    Oblique: diagonal/slant
    Rectus: parallel/straight
    3c.musculus transversus linguae: runs perpendicular to midline
    Exterior abdominal oblique muscle: runs in oblique direction
    1d. Action
    2d. No roots so 4 actions instead: flexors, extensors, supinators, pronators
    Risus: laugh/smile
    3d. Flexor hallucis brevis: flexes big toe
    Supinator muscle:supinates forearm on contraction
    1e. # of attachments
    2e. Biceps: 2 heads
    Cep: head
    Triceps: 3 heads
    Quadriceps: 4 heads
    3e. Biceps: has 2 heads
    Quadriceps: has 4 heads
    1f. Points of attachment
    2f. None🤷
    3f. Sternohyoid muscle: extends from posterior surface of the manubrium of the sternum to the body of the hyoid bone
    1g. Location
    2g. Infra: inferior
    Supra: superior
    3g. Infrahyoid muscle: inferior to/beneath hyoid bone
    Suprapinatus muscle: sits superior to spine of scapula compared to infraspinatus

    Hello Kenhub, I'm not from Usa or Europe. In Turkey 190€ is a considerable amount of money and unfortunately I've met people who'd kill someone for 190€.
