“Our Brand is Crisis,” from director from David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express,” “George Washington”), stars Oscar winners Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”) and Billy Bob Thornton (“Sling Blade”).
A Bolivian presidential candidate failing badly in the polls enlists the firepower of an elite American management team, led by the deeply damaged but still brilliant strategist “Calamity” Jane Bodine (Bullock). In self-imposed retirement following a scandal that earned her nickname and rocked her to her core, Jane is coaxed back into the game for the chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy (Thornton), now coaching the opposition.
But as Candy zeroes in on every vulnerability - both on and off the campaign trail - Jane is plunged into a personal crisis as intense as the one her team exploits nationally to boost their numbers. Dramatic, rapid-fire and laced with satire, “Our Brand is Crisis” reveals the cynical machinations and private battles of world-class political consultants for whom nothing is sacred and winning is all that matters.
The drama also stars Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Joaquim de Almeida (“Fast Five”), Ann Dowd (“Side Effects,” HBO’s “The Leftovers”), Scoot McNairy (“Gone Girl,” “Argo”) and Zoe Kazan (“Ruby Sparks”).
Green directs from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Peter Straughan (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), suggested by the documentary by Rachel Boynton, which outlined the American political campaign marketing tactics employed in the real-life 2002 Bolivian presidential election.
The film is produced by Oscar-winning Smokehouse Pictures’ principals Grant Heslov and George Clooney (“Argo”), with Bullock, Stuart Besser, and Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King serving as executive producers.
Green’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes frequent collaborators director of photography Tim Orr, editor Colin Patton, production designer Richard A. Wright and composer David Wingo (“Manglehorn,”), as well as costume designer Jenny Eagan (“Now You See Me”).
“Our Brand is Crisis” is scheduled for release on Friday, October 30, 2015.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Participant Media, a Smokehouse Pictures production, “Our Brand is Crisis.” The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

I was born in Bolivia but I've never returned for 26 years. This is one of the few Hollywood movies about this country and I'll see this one because of that
I'm from Bolivia, sure it's an interesting topic for a movie, I mean it's based on a true story but I think it is really sad that they try to make look those people like if they seeking the welfare of the country, the story does not end with victory you know? a lot of people died during that government

Another Gem of genius starring my boss Sandra and words to live by Billy. Fighting monsters can be desensitizing. So the good NEWS is that Sandra's career has the troops in line and the research is solid. Her reign is strong and the Sandy sword remains sharp.

Anyway, you should watch the 2005 Rachel Boynton documentary with the same name about how Goni (Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada) was helped to win the 2003 presidential elections in Bolivia by a group of American advisers. You know, just to get a clue??

I think you have misunderstood the previous comment which had a very sarcastic spirit based on the fact that Our Brand is Crisis as documentary it showed the mediatic manipulation of that election and the consequent national crisis we had but in a serious and well done job, of course is a documentary. This movie looks like a really great adult drama, something that is missing in this glut of blockbuster, franchise porn. So I'm looking forward to it. Specially when you look at the cast.
My only gripe is the name might turn people off. Look at Edge of Tomorrow or We Are Your Friends, among a few others. Our Brand is Crisis is a horrible name and I hope it doesn't impact it's box office.

This was so sad. For those who are not Bolivians wouldn't understand. Not only was so sad seen people fighting but for the first time we faced the reality of our country which is corruption.

“Our Brand is Crisis” gets 4 Stars. If you luv politics, the dirtier the better some say, you will get a kick out of this movie. Sandra Bullock stretches herself in the lead role of this satire and does an admirable job. Her nemesis, Billy Bob Thornton, is right on in his part. The setting is a Bolivian presidential election, but, it could be just about anywhere and still work.

Awful how they're trying to show what happened. Even in the case of an adaptation from a true story, the way United States has to be the hero everytime is sickening. All they're doing is perpetueting a bad and WRONG image of what Bolivia and America (because America is a continent and not a country) really is.
I hope the movie doesn't turn out to be what it looks like from this trailer.

Pense ke sandra en esta pelicula hablaba español pero nada no entiendo porque todos los anglohablantes cuando van aun pais con idiomas diferentes no se molestan en usarlo aunque sea para pelicula por ejemplo como alec baldwin en torrente de españa casi toda la pelicula dialogo en español porque la mayoria de los anglos son tan recios en cambiar de idioma aunque sea para actuar.
Just saw this at our bargain theatre. So ultra BOMB!! But, I liked the movie. SB is really very good. Plays an unstable political stategist. Plus it has FALCON from Cap'n America 2!!
