Get your Traeger Flatrock smoking hot and throw them steaks on. My steaks turned out really good. I typically cook my steaks over a fire. Thanks for watching.
The steaks turned out great. Probably the best tasting steak I have cooked on a griddle. To be fair I have not cooked many steaks on the griddle. I normally cook.them over charcoal. Thanks for watching
🤔 I have a question: is the grill not leveled, or is the griddle top built to slope? When he's squeezing oil on it, it rolls towards the rear of the grill.

I was cooking on my driveway which has a decent slope. I even had a couple pieces of plywood under the back wheels and it was still sloped. I have to say this was the best steak I've made in a griddle but to be fair I mainly do my steaks over charcoal. Thanks for watching.
@@griddlecookeatandmore By the way I bought the Halo Elite 3b yesterday due to your videos. I hope they realize the free advertising they are getting from you. Waiting on the natural gas conversion kit before I can cook on it.
First, the Gray indicates a wet steak and boiled at first. Need to dry that sucker before searing it. Second, if you want your steak at 130, take it off at 120, it'll continue cooking another 10 degrees while resting.
I was going to buy one of these until I saw that the low end temps are complete lies. I'm interested in cooking at 225 and 325 80 percent of the time and this can't seem to do the job of holding those temps. What a shame. If I want to nuke a steak, I will grill it on my Kamado Joe, which easily hits 800 degrees for those rare days that I want to go over 600.
The only griddle I know that will maintain 225 degrees is the Loco griddle. If you run all 8 zones you will not run in the 300 range unless you have it completely loaded with food. How often would you need to run all the burners. 90% of the time for me is running one or two burners. When doing that you can easily cook in the 300 degree range.
@@griddlecookeatandmore Thanks for that. I had my eye on the three burner Halo, and after some though I wonder if the burner on one side was lit to medium, the center one to low and the last row left off - if that would reach much lower temps for things like eggs and pancakes? Perhaps I just have not enough experience with the whole concept of zone cooking as it pertains to griddles.
If you get one you will learn how it cooks and will be able to adjust accordingly. Check out Halo Elite Griddles and More Facebook group. This is my group dedicated to the Halo griddle owners. I do use other oils and one that probably is worse than Canola which is Whirl. Whirl is a butter flavored oil substitute for butter. I also use olive oil, Avocado oil, and corn oil. It all depends on the cook.
Love the sound of that first sizzle
It's a great sound and the first bite was great also. 👍👍👍
Great video

Sweet! My next move is to cook a steak like this. Nice cook.

Great looking steaks! That Halo is a heat beast! Definitely get some sear . Looks like a good investment, keep the videos coming! Cheers 🍻
It is a hot beast. I think next time I will get it to 850 to sear a steak.
🤔 I have a question: is the grill not leveled, or is the griddle top built to slope? When he's squeezing oil on it, it rolls towards the rear of the grill.
The griddle top is level to the griddle. It is sloped because the driveway is sloped. You can adjust the feet to help level the griddle.
A lot of people intentionally have them slightly sloped towards the grease bin.
Thanks for the great video. I think I'm leaning towards a Halo.

can you actually use the cover for cooking or it’s just a cover?
Yes you can. The cover is even insulated to keep the heat in. Thanks for watching
Where did you get your Halo? Here in the DFW area, only Nebraska seems to sell them.
I ordered mine from Home Depot. I had it shipped to the store and I picked it up.

Your videos/ reviews of the halo finally made me pull the trigger on one, thank you.

I believe you can blacken fish or chicken at those temps.
It is great for blackening. Thanks for watching.
I bet if you had a "weight" for the top the sear would be more even. These look great though, great video!
I do want to try using a steak weight to see how it does.

I dont think i would use oil with that high of a temp. It would just burn the oil. I'm not sure of anything that has a higher smoke point than 450.
You got to work fast when cooking at the high temps. Kind of like cooking in a wok in a restaurant.

If You Did Some Research on Canola Oil I Believe You Would Change Your Oil. Seriously It's NOT GOOD
I do use other oils and one that probably is worse than Canola which is Whirl. Whirl is a

NO oil on a 750 degree grill! Dry steak! No Char, just burnt oil.
I will have to try it. I'm going to get the griddle to 850 degrees when I try it.
The music is distracting and unnecessary. Otherwise, I appreciate the video.
Sorry about the music and thanks for watching. Do you have a Halo griddle?
I’m with Jan. I need mine cook a little bit more.
You have to have some red in your steak.
Ummm…..no……no I don’t. Don’t wanna see no red, thanks.
