  • EcoResolution sits down with Merlin Sheldrake to talk about his new book The Entangled Life, mushrooms, ecology, consciousness and Our Relationship With Nature.
"Fungi throw our concepts of individuality and even intelligence into question. They can change our minds, heal our bodies, and even help us remediate environmental disaster. By examining fungi on their own terms, Sheldrake reveals how these extraordinary organisms - and our relationships with them - are changing our understanding of how life works."
    - Merlin Sheldrake
You can order or pre-order Merlins transformative new book via www.merlinsheldrake.com
Merlin is interviewed by EcoResolution co-founder Christabel Reed.
    About Merlin Sheldrake:
Merlin Sheldrake is a biologist and a writer with a background in plant sciences, microbiology, ecology, and the history and philosophy of science. He received a Ph.D. in tropical ecology from Cambridge University for his work on underground fungal networks in tropical forests in Panama, where he was a predoctoral research fellow of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.
Merlin’s research ranges from fungal biology, to the history of Amazonian ethnobotany, to the relationship between sound and form in resonant systems. A keen brewer and fermenter, he is fascinated by the relationships that arise between humans and more-than-human organisms. He is a musician and performs on the piano and accordion. Entangled Life is his first book.

Such wonderful angelic intelligences. There is indeed real hope for us and the world we’ve so stupidly abused

Great point about the sunflower, i think that everything is conscious, that all matter is made from consciousness. Plants have the equivalent of muscles, their equivalent of eyes and even a sense of smell which they use for communication. Modern life really kills the magic that's all around us.

I work as a tortoise biologist in the Mojave desert overseeing pipeline construction and it’s impacts. Whenever I find fungi in the spring I do a little fungi dance ☺️ but also take care not to trample.

The great thing is that the dynamical system of nature is resilient adaptive and continues regardless of if we understand it's workings or.. not..

I was so fortunate to find this interview in a search for Merlin Sheldrake. The interviewer, Christabel, was almost as impressive as Merlin. I will be following EcoResolution now. I feel as enlivened by the awake, open space of consciousness in which this conversation took place as by the brilliant paradigm-shifting information and meta-views that were exchanged.

Paradigm shifting and meta-views? You post modernists are clinically insane. Since there are infinite ways of interpreting something, how about the the interpretation that you're all insane?

Wow! Listening to an ABC (Australia) radio interview with Merlin just now, which led me to an online investigation of this man. My professional interest is fungi toxicity.......Merlin has unwittingly led me sideways to a previously unexamined/misunderstood area. Haven't been so enthralled by a radio conversation.....ever! Thank you so much!

Is he a son of Rupert? Rupert is one of the most inspiring, outside-the-box thinking scientists there is. This Merlin comes across as if he has these talents too.

    • @jennadaigle7508
      @jennadaigle7508 4 роки тому

Yes Merlin is Rupert's son. There is another brother, Cosmo, who is a brilliant musician. The link below is to an interesting and informative article on Rupert and Merlin. Among other things, it recounts how Rupert was persecuted for years by narrow-minded mainstream scientists who refused to accept his brilliant new ideas.

farmed commercial mushrooms over twenty years ago. Been a fungi fan since i was fifteen, always considered the skin akin to fungi. Curious about the leather now.
This is the type of information i like to feed my brain before i expose it to disseminated propaganda. Excellent interview, excellent questions, next time see if you can get an i don't know response...
