The Green New Deal is a farce. Just love within your means and take responsibility for your life and reduce your dependence on the Government. Human nature has not changed, just the technology that directs it. First stage thinking often leads to folly.

Great point about the sunflower, i think that everything is conscious, that all matter is made from consciousness. Plants have the equivalent of muscles, their equivalent of eyes and even a sense of smell which they use for communication. Modern life really kills the magic that's all around us.

One of the problems for consumerism that is messing up with the environment is built in abscolecsense. They don't make things that last. You buy a fridge and it breaks in two years, and it's cheaper to buy new than fix it. So what do you do, you go out and buy a brand new $2000 fridge and put the other one in the landfill. Come on... make quality products, and everyone will waste less stuff.

I believe this distinguished professor had touched on many issues that drive our consumptive society. And though she touched on the idea that individual consumption it is not sufficient. She says there must also be a top down movement which she pointed as government involvement. I thought she as an economist was going to discuss how the economic system we live in plays a role in our over consumption. Capitalism is a system whose driving motor is profits. To have profits you must produce. But you need to have buyers or consumers for your products. A close, close relative is the advertising industry that uses the most sophisticated means to get us to buy things: to consume. I would have liked for her to discuss this topic.

It is good to see ur interest in this considering how busy you are but the reality is we are at the point now where two companies own most of the worlds largest corps and many food and hygiene product additives are products of industrial waste chemicals being made profitable. She knows a lot but her focus is very confined to food production. Do yourself a favor and eat fresh non processed foods from places where there are more strict regulations. That means spend as little time in the US/UK as possible and more in some EU countries.

“We depend on this planet to eat, drink, breathe, and live. Figuring out how to keep our life support system running needs to be our number-one priority. Nothing is more important than finding a way to live together - justly, respectfully, sustainably, joyfully - on the only planet we can call home.” ― Annie Leonard, The Story of Stuff
