Literally thirteen years in hiatus, and he just comes back with an absolute bang, literally rewriting the entire timeline in his benefit, and the benefit of his employers. Because honestly, I got no idea. And that's what makes it so terrifying, but at the same time so enthralling, much like Gman himself. I guess now all we can do is wait... and prepare for unforeseen consequences.
You cannot be anymore right in this comment. However, there's one thing you didn't talk about... *When do we get to eat Headcrabs with the brain damaged Vortigaunt?*
For me what really disturbs me about the Gman is that I'm fairly sure that he was in that vault on his own volition, as a "test" to see if Alyx was capable enough to be hired. Like honestly it's just spooky to think about how something so massive as the Combine see the Gman as a big enough threat to their whole existence that they make such an elaborate prison for him, which in all likelihood the Gman purposely stayed inside. Like it's spooky how something as powerful as an Advisor, which were able to cripple both Alyx and Gordon at the same time basically, are minuscule in comparison to him and can be killed off on a whim.
The final level right before you enter the G-Man's chamber looks a lot like a real life virus. This could be a symbol of how the G-Man (and his "employers") is an invader, a saboteur, whose "nudging" of the timeline has cause "unforseen consequences" for the many characters of the universe. Oh and there's an incredibly likely chance another Half Life game is in the works, HL:A did spectacularly and I'm pretty sure Valve was serious when they said they wanted to get back into the Half Life universe again.
@@cressent6496 Sure it is, viruses don't just take the appearance of a circular blob, they also look a lot like bacteriophages. You can ask Google for confirmation.
@@Terra-Antares I mean, bacteriophages are literally viruses designed to kill bacteria, so yeah Sheen is right. The viruses designed to infect humans generally have a more rounded shape to them, because they are meant to enter the cell itself. Bacteriaphages look the way they do because the capsid head holds the nucleic acid that is injected into the cell. Heres a look at some viruses if you would like: media.hhmi.org/biointeractive/click/virus-explorer/index.html If you look at the cross section of T7 you can see clearly the diffrence in the injection methods used between bacteriophages (Bacteria Viruses) and viruses designed to infect animals.
Yeah, his prison cell exterior looks a lot like a virus. It’s probably, and most likely, made like that on purpose. G-man allows Alyx to change the past and save his father but in change, takes Alyx for his own benefit, resembling Parasitism in Nature.
I can't believe we live in a timeline where half life 3 is ACTUALLY confirmed. Could you imagine if you showed the ending of HL:Alyx to someone 10 years ago? They'd be mind blown. I'm honestly so super excited.
I love the soundtrack of Half-Life so much. It just has this unique vibe and feel to it that goes along with the environment and feel of Half-Life. You can use this music in Half-Life 2 and it will still fit.
The greatest antagonist of the Half-Life franchise were never the Xenians nor the Combine, but him. The anomalous man who puppeteer the whole fiasco. The one that brought doom to humans, Xenians, and combine's rule of Earth. We may never know what is his ulterior motive and may never be solved, but the mystery that shrouds the character and the story he has written for everyone in that universe will always captivate me and every Half-Life fans. Valve, you have gotten so far, pls don't just leave us without a canon closure.
A theory supported by facts that are canon (facts made by the writers themselves) which I strongly believe, is that the GMan is a hatched Shu'ulathoi. Acting together with the rest of the unhatched Shu'ulathoi (His "employers"). In order to protect the rest of their kind from being co-opted and enslaved by the Combine. An enslaved Shu'ulathoi becomes a combine Advisor, forever kept in a suppression field, in order to prevent their hatching. A Shu'ulathoi has such remarkable and strong psychic powers, they can imprint upon their cells what form they wish to take when hatching. One might have very well took on the shape of GMan, travelling across dimensions, "hiring" remarkable individuals capable of carrying any deed no matter how impossible.
@Rizal96able I've never heard that theory before, but considering the similarities between the telekinetic powers of the Gman and the advisors, that is honestly very convincing. Maybe Shu'ulathoi 'hatching' is actually just metamorphosis, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, but when Shu'ulathoi metamorphosise, they gain even more powers, maybe even shape-shifting abilities and some form of control over time? Definitely sounds plausible to me
I get the feeling that G-Man wasn't truly imprisoned by the Combine and that he could easily break out of the vault if he wanted to, but he chose to be compliant so he could monitor Alyx's progress and see if she's as valuable an asset to him that he believes she is.
When gman gives alyx the briefcase at the same time, but not the same time, he is talking to gordon freeman in the HL: EP 2 so he doesn't have the briefcase, Gman can be in two different places and times at the same time. In other words, two parallel worlds, one in which Eli moria, Freeman was still hired without knowing it and was on his way to the Borealis, and another world, in which Gman seeing the potential of alyx 5 years before in HL Alyx, gman blackmailing her causes alyx to kill the advisor. That action affects the two parallel worlds. And so he "hires" Alyx and remains in a state of suspension in time until gman probably makes him go to the Borealis, because he is his new "pawn"
The short but iconic music of Half life 2, it's nice and logical that it is partly in the new game after this time. ( I think that it really is made to sound like it in the game too a bit)
POV: I did play the game and it was fucking amazing, and experiencing the ending itself and credits, even tough i knew what would happen, literally made me nearly cry.
After finishing this game, and this started playing I just felt so nostalgic, I had to bow to the lits of creators. Definitely, Valve achieved what they wanted, they pushed VR forward thanks to this masterpiece.
this is honestly THE BEST CREDITS SONG EVER i am honestly willing to say that this perfectly captures the vibe of Alyx and summarizes it in a wonderful package. also this screen is awesome
To be fair, this isn’t too dissimilar to Gordon seeing him at the end of Half-Life 2/beginning of Episode 1. Also, we see him observing from afar in Half-Life 2 and Episode 2
This has the calm moments similar to time, by Hans Zimmer. You have the “breath in” and “breath out” moments. Hell even the same key at some points. I found that interesting 🧐
I like that it’s called Ending Triumph. It’s like they knew they pulled off the impossible. A VR-exclusive main series Half-Life prequel that released after 13 years of nothing. And it WORKED!
Hi Help Me I wonder how they captured him too but I feel like a lot of characters know of his existence. Breen knows him and as a high-ranking member of the Combine I would think he’s shared what he knows with them.
@@overlordbrandon he wasnt captured , probably after half life 2 episode 2 he changed places with the one that was in the prision (probably shepard) to change the future
Maybe half life alyx, is ilusion. G man wanted to replace gordon with alyx, but he had to proove to his employees that she has big potential. Both Gordon and Shepard were already tested at black mesa. Meanwhile alyx, nope. So he took her memories, added vault and himself to the story, and created simulation. At the end he also used Alyx to save Eli, maybe beacuse he still had plans for him, but at the beginning of the game, and exactly before Eli death scene we have characteristic whistle, it might be sound of transfering between simulation and reality. Also, in post credits scene, if we look at the left, we can see G man on the stairs.
Theres only one word to describe this song and it's. Hope. Hope for another half life game around the corner as Valve starts to get the valve working and games being made once again
imagine being a combine grunt, sitting down contemplating life then you hear "may i sit here?" in a stuttery voice you turn around and a man in a blue suit with flat hair and a briefcase is there
(Sorry for the long reply. This spiraled completely out of control.) Chilling panic flooded you. He…no, *it* , looked no different from the first time you saw it. That mission that you remember clear as day. That peculiar mission of holding a nameless target in place, the day where your entire unit was wiped out: your fellow soldiers, Ordinals, even the Advisor overseeing the mission. Gone as though they were never there when the fabric of reality splintered at its command. But what was left of your unit had succeeded in securing it long enough…you were safe. That was thirteen years ago. Yet there it was, well outside of its containment, unmistakable. Fearing what might happen if you decline, you give it a shaky nod. It places itself in a sitting position next to you rather awkwardly, as though it struggled to remember the motions required for a human body to sit down, placing its briefcase nearby. “I do not intend to alarm you, Mx. [Lastname]…though our previous meeting was rather…tense…” Mx. [Lastname]. It used your family name to refer to you. For over fourteen years, your name had been ‘#445, 242’, or just ‘242’ among your units, and everything around you had tried its hardest to make you forget you ever had a name, and a family, for that matter. “I was ordered to fight you. I know I had no choice and no chance. I tried to run away, but there’s no escaping them. End my life if you must, there’s nothing for me to do except be forced to kill my own people anyway.” You finally spoke up, and it seemed…somewhat surprised at your words. In its unsettlingly luminous blue eyes there seemed to be a trace of pity…or…could it have been sympathy? “I am aware. I under-stand your…predicament. I, too, have had my…hand forced by those above me in many…instances. I mean you no harm. I only intend to assure you that it is never impossible to alter one’s situation. All within our worlds is interconnected. Even the smallest resistance to the seemingly…ceaseless flow of events leads to greater and greater resistance. You will know when to resist. Do not…fear to oppose the forces seeking to control you, for you have already proven yourself capable. Ah…I believe I must leave you be now.” It rose from the space at your side, only slightly less awkwardly than it had sat down, and begun to walk away. Your head burned with questions. “Wait…wait…are you telling me to-“ It had already gone, fading from this plane of reality as though it had never been there. That was one month ago. As the Resistance’s efforts dwindle and your unit is forced on several more missions to drive your hopes for the end ever deeper into the abyss of oblivion, this conversation returns to your mind when an unusual prisoner left as your responsibility speaks to you. “Wait…you’re different. I know it. He’s spoken to you, hasn’t he?” You cautiously ask his name. “…Shepard. Adrian Shepard.” (I was trying to write a short conversation thing and it turned into the start of an Opposing Force 2?, set in the Alyx timeline after she disappears. As humanity begins to lose hope with no Freeman or Vance to lead their only hope for liberation, you take the role of a renegade Combine soldier who teams up with an Anticitizen from a distant timeline to take down your former masters from the inside. Whoops.)
I play this when I fight the Nihilanth in Black Mesa, it's just such a cool track that belongs with that fight and makes it feel more like a "fight for reality and Earth" type battle, and then at the end I always finish him off with a Gluon gun and then I play Stranger Things 2 Levitation, perfect combination to make a badass fight
I'm really surprised that this doesn't have that many views because this is something I would expect to get a fuck ton of views, maybe we'll just have to wait until UA-cam recommends it to everyone like 5 years later.
G-man is an unstoppable force that I suppose has... Been around since the beginning of time. The combine fears him, as he is the image of at least, how Half-Life portrays a literal god's image. He is more capable of universal destruction than it might seem. People fear him. Everyone does. Everything does. The first enemies seen in Half-Life are running from the combine, and the combine is running from H I M . He is the vessel of pure godly power and can change the timeline as he pleases. He knows how to trigger certain emotions in real world people.

Heres a look at some viruses if you would like: media.hhmi.org/biointeractive/click/virus-explorer/index.html
If you look at the cross section of T7 you can see clearly the diffrence in the injection methods used between bacteriophages (Bacteria Viruses) and viruses designed to infect animals.
Yeah, his prison cell exterior looks a lot like a virus. It’s probably, and most likely, made like that on purpose. G-man allows Alyx to change the past and save his father but in change, takes Alyx for his own benefit, resembling Parasitism in Nature.
This is absolutely up there with the HL1 closing theme.
I can't believe we live in a timeline where half life 3 is ACTUALLY confirmed.
Could you imagine if you showed the ending of HL:Alyx to someone 10 years ago? They'd be mind blown.

I love the soundtrack of Half-Life so much. It just has this unique vibe and feel to it that goes along with the environment and feel of Half-Life.
You can use this music in Half-Life 2 and it will still fit.
that's half synth. This is new music category

Definitely sounds plausible to me
@@Rizal96able Damn makes me wonder what is capable of imprisoning shuulathoi then. What even is at the top of the combine even?
The ending was so sad and i Felt happy too

I get the feeling that G-Man wasn't truly imprisoned by the Combine and that he could easily break out of the vault if he wanted to, but he chose to be compliant so he could monitor Alyx's progress and see if she's as valuable an asset to him that he believes she is.
i believe that is the case
You just took the most powerful Half-Life song we've ever had for such a long time and cranked it up to 11, I love it!
When gman gives alyx the briefcase at the same time, but not the same time, he is talking to gordon freeman in the HL: EP 2 so he doesn't have the briefcase,
Gman can be in two different places and times at the same time.

I hardly ever find that remixes are better than the original, so this is an incredible surprise.
This has the calm moments similar to time, by Hans Zimmer. You have the “breath in” and “breath out” moments. Hell even the same key at some points.
I found that interesting 🧐
The best ending song since Half Life 1... Valve really makes incredible soundtrack.

And it WORKED!
I still wander how do they capture G Man or even recognized his existence
Hi Help Me I wonder how they captured him too but I feel like a lot of characters know of his existence. Breen knows him and as a high-ranking member of the Combine I would think he’s shared what he knows with them.
According to some, they used the Combine Elites minds to predict his location and track him down to the old apartment before he could teleport away.
You're right, but now that I think of it, G Man getting captured may be his plan all along for his agenda¿
G-man is a creature out of time, if you chain his body, someone will eventually break the chains for him for it is his fate to be without one
imagine being a combine grunt, sitting down contemplating life
then you hear "may i sit here?" in a stuttery voice
you turn around and a man in a blue suit with flat hair and a briefcase is there
(Sorry for the long reply. This spiraled completely out of control.)
Chilling panic flooded you.
[Lastname]…though our previous meeting was rather…tense…”
Mx.
Ah…I believe I must leave you be now.”
It rose from the space at your side, only slightly less awkwardly than it had sat down, and begun to walk away. Your head burned with questions.
“Wait…wait…are you telling me to-“
It had already gone, fading from this plane of reality as though it had never been there.
I know it. He’s spoken to you, hasn’t he?”
You cautiously ask his name.
“…Shepard. Adrian Shepard.”
(I was trying to write a short conversation thing and it turned into the start of an Opposing Force 2?, set in the Alyx timeline after she disappears. As humanity begins to lose hope with no Freeman or Vance to lead their only hope for liberation, you take the role of a renegade Combine soldier who teams up with an Anticitizen from a distant timeline to take down your former masters from the inside. Whoops.)

Good Music Half-life 3.
