I wish more games were willing to sacrifice horror for intensity. Like when in the seek chase in doors, the music made it a lot less scary, but it felt awesome and intense and gave me the adrenaline rush I needed, that made me realize that I want more horror games to give that same feeling. This helps scratch that itch.

I know what you mean; it's definitely more fun/scary to have to firmly press W, carefully time jumps, and shoot obstacles out the way to avoid *something* getting you; rather than your character sitting still for 10 minutes followed by a jumpscare and the game over screen
as an aspiring game dev, this is one of the things i hope to make more common-place in the horror genre.
The scariest part about this level is that you can rarely end up here from *ANY* level. There are dedicated entrances if you're trying to intentionally land here, but the backrooms can just decide to drop you here and you have to run like hell.
You can only see this level once however, if you manage to escape you won't appear here again. Perhaps it's best to intentionally get yourself here when you know it's coming and you're prepared to run, you might have a better shot at survival that way.
Still, adrenaline is a hell of a drug, and you'd be surprised what humans can do if it means our lives.

Because this is a remaster, it makes me think of the sublevel "!-!" because of how intense it is overall and how the long break in the middle reminds me of the white areas in that sublevel lol. anyway, I absolutely love this and I'm glad I found the original

This is literal perfection and fixed every small flaw the original had! The song starts with an unnerving level, you are in a long hallway and you feel like you are not alone. Suddenly, you see a horde of entities approaching you, and the intense chase begins. As you get used to the running, everything sort of calms down and blends in with the sirens. Then you see the exit door as you are slowly running out of breath, final mad dash... and you are safe as you slam the door behind you shut. Go buy yourself a coffee my man, hope you grow to be an even bigger creator in the future! Lots of love ❤️

I can imagine the levels’ workings and logic would make it adapt to each person that enters when it’s a single wanderer. So like if some anime character that can fly enters, they can’t fly and it may be even larger of a run depending on their running speed.

These two tracks are good for two different setups. This one is more of a feeling of hope, like you see the exit and are about to escape. The original is more of a feeling of dread, telling you that you have to run for your life if you truly want to survive.
I agree! The original does sound like a dreadful one where you are trying to escape, but it is like a long run.
I also have to agree with you and Taylor (AKA My Brother and Pilot of Atlas Destroyer/Mark 3 Former Training Jaeger)
This version does sound like a new hope to survive, while the other was like a dreadful one.
The remastered version is much better as it could be played after the original when you are near the exit and are almost there.

That sort of somber part in the middle seems to me like the runner is reflecting on their journey through the Backrooms up until now, remembering the friends they made, and most likely lost, along the way. And as the intensity slowly returns, they are shedding tears, remembering how each of them died, until finally, they grit their teeth, going all out for one last push to the end. They owe it to their lost friends to live to tell their tales after all...

I have a weird paranoia while going trough long hallways after listening to this for like 5 hours straight.
The pacing is a massive improvement over the original. The sirens add a sense of urgency. And then the piano. The feeling of dread and surrender. And then when the song picks up pace again it's like a last effort to make it out

Personally, I think the beginning and second half of the song should have a harder beat drop, or maybe a chorus and guitars. I think those would fit the song great!
But aside from that, the song itself is great. The piano fits perfectly, especially during that calmer part. The alarms in the background increase the intensity even more! Great song, DH!

When I first heard the original song, I always imagined how it would sound to the person actually running through Level !.

Sirens screeching at you, hundreds of entities footsteps pounding behind you; and you're vibing the whole way.

The way the melody is almost calming, but so fast and panicked at the same time, the way you seem to think about your life, and the final push of straight determination in the last part. I remember watching the premiere on my laptop, I knew for a fact this was going to blow up because it was SO much better than the original, and the pace being faster and the song just overall being more aggressive really gives off that "𝙍𝙐𝙉 𝙁𝙊𝙍 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙁𝙐𝘾𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙄𝙁𝙀!!!" vibe. Here we are literally almost 2 years later (geez time goes by a little TOO fast) and it still is my favorite backrooms song. Well done Husky.
