    We have pickup trucks here in the US that would destroy that m3 in a drag race and then you could turn around and tow a trailer 800 miles with it.

      @@yassandfats Well, it turns out that drag racing is a bit more than stats on a sheet of paper. We built a carburated bottle-rocket mustang that ran 8.20's in the Quarter-mile @ 160ish mph back in the late 90's for $12,500. Made that back in 6 weeks on the street....
      The kids today are running 6's on the street with the big twin-turbo smallblock cars.

      @@jomamma1750We use to call it dyno racing. lol The best I did was a 10.26 @ 135 in a 90 coupe. Still EFI though. Probably could have got a 9 at that speed. With a better suspension. It just had the old Southside lift bars, with an airbag. I only put about 5K in that car. It was literally my daily driver. The only car I owned. Still have it actually. Fun times. When people actually built cars.

    • @jomamma1750

      @@91GT347 Southside bars were all you needed. Trick was to weld the axle tubes to the center section. Those things would walk around all over the place and you'd get real squirrely with any more power than where you were. Locked in tight, that setup was good into the low 8's. We used a 427 stroker henry small block, dart sr heads and a 2-stage 400 shot. It worked. Everybody saw the suspension and thought "That's just a low 10/high 9 car, I got this" They couldn't wait to throw up a grand or 2 on a run.......
      Hehehehe

      @mrdrfez Місяць тому +2

      The Beamer is running a large aftermarket single-turbo. The turbo lag is going to be insane compared to stock twin-turbos. And if you spool it before launch, (since it's a large single-turbo) you're going to have to do so at a higher rpm than with the stock TT setup resulting in poor traction if done wrong.

    The reason the mustang lost the rolling race is purely to transmission.
    That's a six speed manual versus a seven or eight speed dual clutch . She'll have tighter gearing in the automatic, especially from fourth gear on which in the mustang is 1:1.

    When you mentioned two wheel drive and four wheel drive .... and said four wheel drive in needed. Four wheel drive is not used in supercars. All wheel drive is used in super cars. With TRUE four wheel drive the axles lock/the differentials lock, and from one wheel to the other it's like a solid axle. When making turns on roads and other hard high traction surfaces that tears apart four wheel drive. In any turn or curve each tire takes a different path of different length. Each axle has to be able to rotate/spin at different speeds to match the turn. The computers on AWD vehicles sense tire spin or slip and shift traction to different wheels/tires. In a true 4WD system each front tire always, when in 4WD, rotates at the exact same speed as the other, even if you're 'hanging a tire.' Same with the rear.
    Many people think that AWD is the same as 4WD. They are wrong.

    The Mustang is a muscle car, which is basically set up to do runs exactly like this. It's hard to beat in a straight line. The BMW, however, is tuned for handling and would eat the mustang every time on a twisty road. It's not that the mustang is bad in the corners, but it's not as well balanced as the BMW.

    Crazy to think the Mustang is also heavier than the BMW to boot. The turbo lag on that big turbo is the killer here, twin turbo's typically means one small and one big turbo, one for the low end and the bigger one for top end. The lag you get is from the lack of the small turbo helping spool up that larger turbo in the low rpms. Chances are however, high speed pulls by come from the BMW once that Large turbo starts spooling up. Fun to watch. Having a dealers license though, I can sell Mustangs all day long regardless of how old they are, BMW's however, after they are 65 years old, no one wants them as they get costly to service unlike the Mustang. Not saying I don't like the BMW's, but as a money maker in the car business, they tend to be money pits in 5 to 8 years once they get some mileage put on them and start needing repairs.

    My M3 was not a competition and my Mustang was a GT. Neither was modified like these two cars were. Mine were entirely factory. The Mustang was fun and great in a straight line. The BMW was better in the turns by a wide margin. The Mustang didn't stop as well as the BMW. The Mustang sounded much better and received much more attention. I also thought the Mustang had better road feel and steering feedback. The BMW felt a bit muted. Both were great cars to drive in their own way. I have a 2008 135i that I bought brand new, and to be honest, I keep it because I like it better than either of these cars as a daily driver and for some stop light to stop light fun. There are many, many fast cars here in the USA, and many of them aren't even sports cars. Any garden variety of 3.5L EcoBoost Ford F-150 pickup can get to 60 miles per hour in 5 seconds or less from the factory. That's not bad for a full size anything, let alone a full size pickup truck with large wheels and high ground clearance.

      That depends on the size of the turbochargers and how they car is tuned. Most turbocharged engines in stock vehicles now make most of their power from 1500 to 5000 RPMs. They make massive torque right off idle, with little or no lag. It's not like turbocharged cars from the 90s.

    I myself grew up around bmw as my mom has a 2018 M5, but most standard sports cars can outdo the M models let alone the cost of upkeep on a bmw, especially when you have certain models because their engines aren’t very reliable. Hence why they probably chose a modified version of the M3 and took off the crap tt and replaced it with a single turbo and internal engine upgrades.
    My buddy has a focus RS pushing around 700whp to all 4 wheels and it’ll dust any bmw, Mercedes, etc. After the car cost (44kUSD) plus upgrades (11-15k usd), it’ll smoke almost anything on the street. • @jeffmiller7817
    @jeffmiller7817 Місяць тому

    IT turned out exactly as I figured once they gave the specs. The Mustang with the V 8 6 speed started pulling away when he was hitting 5th and , and he said he got a bad start the one he lost. The V 6 Automatic is lower geared in 3rd and 4 than the mustang is, and they were standing on it in that gear and you hear the M 3 just reaching the turbo in both gears when he punched it, and 3rd at 50 wanted to break the tires loose. The Mustang in 3rd and 4th was not as high in the RPM range with the V 8, so it lagged getting to the boost... But overall, decent races...

    Only issue I have here is that an automatic transmission is such an advantage now a days to anybody driving a manual except for the best of the best drivers who specialize in the car or at least have had a couple of years driving the particular car knowing its ins and outs. I will say this though even a pro driver in the mustang would have a hard time making up the time this guy lost in a rolling start. Thats the M3s superpower.

The IIHS suggests that muscle cars are driven more aggressively than other vehicles, which leads to more deadly crashes.

    There is a new "Mustang" coming out next year. I put it in quotes because it is more of a supercar than a muscle car. It really only shares the basic shape of the regular Mustang. The whole car has been re-engineered for GT3 racing type performance on the street. Designed for speed and corners. Check out the Mustang GTD. I believe it was at Goodwood this year. You can only buy one if Invited and then scrutinized and approved by Ford.
