Arin driving through a random wall and destroying the one thing he needed to easily access the the end of the mission is the most Arin Hanson thing he could possibly do.
He actually didn't although he definitely made it look like that, I've played the game recently, there are no stairs up to that door, you have to make your own way up there
I watched a few playthroughs of this, and i seem to remember there are no stairs, and you do have to find a way up, where most people work with the cherry picker thing Arin seemingly refused to turn and look at.
I just don't get how it took 20 years since red faction 1s full destructible environments to make a game like this haha, we loved destroying everything and burrowing tunnels as kids
@@KaladinVegapunk Well, for a start Red Faction still had non-destructible objects. RF1 and 2 was largely underground so that limited the amount of stuff they needed to render. RF Guerrilla only had fully destructable buildings. You couldn't dent the ground itself. Minecraft popularised voxel technology so it took someone applying that to destruction physics. And it's not like Red Faction was even a pioneer. Mercenaries Playground of Destruction did destruction on a larger scale, for example. Noita has a similar system as this game, only pixel based rather than voxel. Basically, the answer is technological limitation and ambition.
I went back to listen to it for the "I don't like dying" part and I can only guess it was the the speech-to-text misinterpreting "I don't like driving.".. just incase anyone was wondering because I definitely didn't recognize the quote haha
0:30 - Minecraft is voxels, they're just huge. Also I BELIEVE (from some shit I saw on Discovery like twenty years ago) that voxels are 'pixels with volume' as opposed to being 2D. And pixel is short for 'picture element.' This will all be on the test.

It's still really fun to see them go though all the excitement I went through when discovering the fun quirks of the game. But, also, come on Hanson, you can just move the piece of the wall man...

I wouldn't say it's very difficult unless you go for 100% completion for all missions, but it is pretty time consuming. Still loved every second of this game when I played it.
I wish some games stuck more to the gimmick and that was it. This game turns into more of a heist game than a tearing things down game. I just wanna tear things down! Not be stressed about executing the perfect heist!
I hope you do more episodes of this! This game is crazy fun, and the challenges get more and more interesting. Basically turns into speed running where you create your own skips.

Voxel actually stands for "volumetric pixel." Basically where a pixel based sprite is measured in height and width of pixels, voxels add a third dimension of depth or "volume" to the "pixels" making up a 3d model.
It's neat watching someone play this game for the first time, because it takes a bit for people to realize just how much they can change the environment and what tools they have. Arin keeps using the same explosive canisters, and still insists on taking the stairs to get to the ground floor (instead of just blowing a hole in the wall and dropping down).
