Arin's scream has the perfect succession of words ever it's like a well crafted song. With an opening "i don't care" two verses "why won't it let me go" and then the bridge "please" sets up the release of the song "Nooo" and a beautiful outro is circling right back to where we began "let's go again" what a beautiful ode to determination this is.
As someone who use to do this for a living I can tell you that learning to use this kind of equipment for the first time feels about the same as this but at least Arin doesn't have his boss yelling in his ear every time he make a mistake.
@@Datadog-1 in my experience, there are two sets of controls, iso and sae. basically american and european. in my brain, the euro controls always made more sense. movement on the left, precision on the right.
@@Datadog-1 Anything you learn as a kid is always going to be more intuitive feeling than if you learned it as an adult. Even learning the controls as an adult they quickly become fairly easy its only when you first start out that it takes a little bit to get use to.
Around 39:00, Arin didn't hit any cones. He ran his arm into the wall ahead of him, which is why he couldn't move and kept getting penalties every time he tried to move forward again. I love that Dan motivated Arin to give it one more shot after he'd given up, and that ended up being the winning attempt. So wonderful. Also I like that UA-cam thinks this is Crazy Taxi.
Seeing you guys play this makes me want to see you guys play "Trash It!" for PS1. That game was something else! And kinda fits in with the manual labour theme you guys have had going on lately!
Oh my God... I used to play this game with my dad all the time since he was a driver for these machines irl so the game has a special place on my heart. Recently played this on stream and GOD it took me almost AN HOUR to get my license, nobody understood the controls for this game were so difficult and weird bc you literally have to use all the buttons. Glad you had... fun? with it haha. Also... Arin, you CAN back up straight.
Of course you can lmao, when Arin says something is impossible, it usually 1-2 buttons that he just didn’t press or he pressed but thought you could only do a specific way
@@Drraagh Yup, the little cold-roll of the license level was literally showing the buttons to press, and he dove in before it could show him to to back up in a manner not befitting an intimidated duck. (ed: dear me I misspelled "manner")
It might also be an emulator thing. They might be playing this on emulator, as they have other games. If it uses R2 and L2 to reverse the treads, that can cause some issues, as some controllers treat those buttons as a Z-Axis joystick (for pressure sensitivity) instead of just 2 independent buttons. This means though that pressing both won't be registered.
This looks like an arcade game *sees Taito* ah, yupp. Yeah, I'm guessing it would've had a unique control setup on the cabinet. Translating such controls to a playstation controller was certainly ambitious.
It actually came with a special controller with 2 joysticks. The PS1 and DualShock controls are just there so you technically can play it without that controller.
So at 38:45 he was not just hitting the Witch Hat, he was also hitting the fence with the arm/scoop !!! This is also why he lost forward momentum, he was hitting the fence in front of him repeatedly. You can see in his next attempt he has the scoop high enough to clear the fence giving him the space to do his desired movement, he just got carried away and didn't have the time to complete it. He then gets dangerously close to the fence again during his successful run.
I got way too invested with the turtles and arm maze segments. Good job, Arin! Edit: I know this isn't a VS, but can we get an "Arin Wins" for the absolute force of will that final attempt took?
Arin screaming like he just returned to his village and found it burned to the ground by the bandit gang he left on bad terms a decade ago too specific? perhaps.
I hope this episode does well, it has that classic goodness and I will be sad if a few months from now I'm not being awoken by Arin's big "Nooooooo!" in my sleepytime compilations.
