I watched a lot of pieces come out the drain plug on the box in a interior donor car I had a while ago, nice and detailed video

Yep, not a good sign hey. It's amazing how long they can drive for before one of these pieces get jammed somewhere causing a failure.

I bought a KJ AWD a few months ago and done a ATF change and guess what yep a bit of wave spring stuck to the sump plug, I only paid a grand for the car but needed a bit of work but not as much as I was expecting after changing the ATF, I got a quote from a transmission place in Canberra and they said they can fit a new wave spring for just over $1100 and they can do it without removing the transmission, I had the wave spring replaced in my KL Verada and they guy that did it said the transmission had to come out and he charged me $1800. After watching your video I don't know how it can be done in the car, surley to replace the oil filter and find all the bits of wave spring it would have to be removed from the car. I thought the oil filter was under the valve cover that looks like a sump, but looking at your video its in a very hard to get to spot. My AWD still drives ok but I'm just waiting for it to go bang, its done 225,000 k's so I don't think its even worth replacing the wave spring as the whole transmission would be nearly due for a rebuild, not sure what to do with the car, maybe fit a good second hand box thats had a new wave spring fitted or just scrap the car, they are a pretty rare car, where I live they are.

Being AWD I would put a new trans in. Not easy to find so many AWD's compared to the FWD variants.

This can be done while on the car just have to remove the plastic shrouds to gain better access to the bolts lol all in all worst gearbox worldwide 😂
