    Our house has solar power. Would that be particularly advantageous?

    • @ChristianRauchenwald
      @ChristianRauchenwald  3 роки тому +10

      Sure, in that case you earn more since you don't have to deduct electricity costs from your earnings.
      On the other hand, if you also invested/paid a couple thousand for the whole solar panel setup or if you are selling your excess electricity to the grid you also should consider that, because you can't sell the electricity NiceHash uses on your computer, so you'd enter the price per kWh you get paid as your cost.

    In my opinion, mining an alt-coin directly is much more profitable than using Nicehash. You are not at the whims of people renting your mining power, you just join a pool, and you can mine whatever cryptocurrency you want. I am mining Raven Coin and making 30 more dollars/month than I do with Nicehash.

    • @ChristianRauchenwald

    Does mining wear down the GPU card and shorten its life? can you still play a game while mining?

    • @supernatural2968
      @supernatural2968 3 роки тому +2

      running your gpu(and therefore your whole computer) constantly at full throttle is never a good idea and can shorten its lifespan; however, the time it shortens its life by is close to never significant enough to have you notice it. as long as you take care of your components(i.e. providing enough cooling, cleaning dust, etc.), you will most likely sell your current gpu and move on to your next one before your current one dies. as far as playing games while mining, probably not. mining uses a lot of your gpu horsepower and would probably make your game noticeably slower. running a mining program like nicehash overnight would be a much better alternative than gaming and mining, or putting time to the side to mine while your awake.

    • @ChristianRauchenwald
      @ChristianRauchenwald  3 роки тому

      Thanks for providing an answer @Supernatural29 - I'd like to add that GPU usually are stress-tested running 24/7 under load and that's why if you run them without overclocking, proper cooling,... - you are more likely to get rid of the card because it's getting old than experience any issues because you used it for mining.

      Kommt drauf an welche Erfolgsrate der Pool hat da du ja nur für tatsächliche geminte coins deinen Anteil in nem Pool bekommst, bei NiceHash im Vergleich dazu aber einfach für deine Hashrate bezahlt wirst unabhängig davon ob der Käufer deiner Hashpower damit Profit macht oder nicht.
      Ich versuche nur Dinge zu zeigen/empfehlen die ich auch selbst am Laufen habe. Das heist nicht das es keine besseren alternativen gibt :) gerade für Leute die bereit sind sich mit der Materie zu beschäftigen. Für Anfänger finde ich NiceHash perfekt da es einfach einzurichten ist und was mMn viel zu oft vergessen wird eben die Berücksichtigung der eigenen Stromkosten ermöglicht.
      Am Ende geht's mir mit vielen meiner aktuellen Videos nur darum Leuten einfache Möglichkeiten zu zeigen wie sie eben ein paar Euro nebenbei verdienen können ohne großen Aufwand ohne dabei zu tief in einzelne Themenbereiche zu gehen um sicherzustellen das jedes meiner Videos für Anfänger immer noch geeignet ist.

      I don't judge people by what the did in their past (unless it's something like murder, rape,...) because I believe that everyone made their fare share of mistakes.
      And regarding the NiceHash hack, people got compensated for 100% of their losses over time and could have just bought BTC again at that lower rate.
      The fact is that NiceHash has a very long history or reliably paying it's users and is one of the easiest ways for people to start mining on their hardware. Your entire argument focues on the personal history of one person and an unfortunate event outside of NiceHash's control that they handled well considering all the circumstance, in my opinion.

      Maybe instead of calling something a scam, think about how it works. You are not mining BTC with NiceHash but renting out your hardware so other people can mine different coins and you get compensated in BTC for that. So, the money you make doesn't increase linear with increases in BTC value but depend on how much people are paying right now per TH to rent mining power.
