Ah, the First Generation, where the world was weird. Like Right Analog Stick was used for attacking, 30 minutes Egg Delivery Quests that instantly spawn Velocipreys/Bullfangos in all the areas as soon as you pick up an Egg, and the Sword & Shield that you pulled out from the altar behind your House when you finally slayed Rathalos after hours of gameplay that you thought was Excalibur was a Weapon with only Red and Orange Sharpness. Stuffs were so cursed back then.
to be perfectly fair, if you pulled a sword out of a stone after it had been there for decades if not centuries, it probably wouldn't be in very good shape irl either
@HectorT52 Yeah, its final upgrade turn it into the Master's Blade with a massive chunk of Green Sharpness. The problem is that it require a Monoblos Heart, a Rare Item with a 1% drop rate.
9:55 I love I FUCKING LOVE how you still treat [REDACTED] as such a cryptic and unknowable entity even in a video that isn't treated as an in universe documentary.
Thing is, I figured that would just be history now, given the Guild's operation against the Black Dragon during Iceborne is stated to be a worldwide endeavor involving pretty much every nation. No keeping it secret after that, at least within the Guild.
@@Ryodraco You assume the guild isn't SPECIFICALLY keeping it a secret. "Yeah we met the mythical dragon that took out a kingdom overnight." "OMG. We're doomed! Panic! Anarchy!" "Wait... wait! We killed it!" "You have hunters stronger than a dragon that can kill a kingdom overnight?! OMG. We're doomed! Panic! Anarchy!"
@@Krescentwolf all that would take is not pointing out that a single Hunter did most of the fighting (in the canon fight they do get assisted and later saved by Aiden). The operation itself would be pretty safe public knowledge (or Guild member knowledge).
Civilized Regions makes me which we have optional arena quests where we are invited to a colosseum type arena where we have actual audiences cheering and watching us battling monsters. The people there could never witness monsters in natural environment therefore a publicly accessible arena would be the way to go. The guild would profit a lot from this kind of event. They make a lot of money from attendees and sponsors, they educate people about hunters and monsters, the event itself would inspire attendees who may become future Hunters and which means the guild secured continuous flow of hunters.
You have no idea how much of a Godsend this is, Oceaniz. The creatures of Monster Hunter will alwas come first but I also always wanted to know more about the land itself. This is going to be SO HELPFUL for my own MH fanfic, I can't thank you enough xD
11:45 I remember seeing this as a young boy, and it made me fall in love with MH. What a glorious life of eating, drinking, and hunting powerful beasts!!!
I just recently decided to binge watch all of your monster hunter videos, and even though I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while, I consistently forget that you’ve only been putting out these for like three years. (Minus a couple old outliers) The amount of research and effort you put into these is truly amazing. Thank you for all your efforts Oceaniz
It is interesting how much the outline of the mountain ranges changed from the "World of Monster Hunter" Video I am am very much inruiged how you will place the 3rd and 4th Gen locations this time around, since that is so vague in general.
Awesome! I'm fascinated by Monster Hunter geography and look forward to your insights on speculated locations. I've been running a Monster Hunter comic since 2006 and have been working on a reboot recently, so knowing the precise locations (even speculated) would be super helpful! Love your stuff, Oceanz!
Ever since I first played Freedom Unite, I had been always curious of the entire world of the games, glad you brought this up. Can't wait for what Wilds has in store
Thank you for the incredible work and these incredible videos. I got into Monster Hunter in September and I've been absolutely obsessed with it, so having a source where I can watch its history and development is awesome. You put a lot of work into your videos so I can't wait to see what else you'll make in the future. Once again, thank you for the work you put in.
This is something I wondered for awhile. About how the world of Monster Hunter looks, I’m happy to see that I can get a better Idea from this video and your awesome research.
I know they're part of side games, but will you include the Monster Rider towns and locations? There are some impressive town and important regions used in the games. I can think of another complication could com up. That being there's maybe more continents that'll pop up in future generations.
I have only started playing Monster Hunter in this current gen, but I quickly grown fascinated by its lore. I watched your other videos and when I heard you were making this one I became very excited. I can't wait till the next one!
i really wanna see the Forest and Hills remastered one day i know genearations did something similar, but i'm really hoping for a mhworld or rise treatment
At 24:45, when i heard that the city's name is Veld, my mind immediately thought of Arkveld. I think its just me, or does anyone else got that ringing bell when they hear Veld?
I kinda hope there are other "new world" continents. I mean rn it looks kinda isolated from the any other landmasses especially sense from how worlds map makes it look like the hinterlands might be part of the main continent.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, yeah the maps in the older games may have been “interconnected pieces”. But MAN did capcom make sure they were beautiful, and allowed your imagination to go wild with immersion. Rise REALLY dropped the ball with most of their maps. And world id say at least had mostly good maps. Ironically the recess was the only one I really didn’t like. (The desert also didn’t really have much of an actual desert). The old maps had a lot of care and charm for scenery and immersion, and all done necessarily due to old hardware
I've got several questions. First of all, much of this video seems to be just the information from Gaijin Hunter's Monster Hunter Map video but with added talking to it, outside of the "sources" pop ups. And I'm fairly sure there IS one big hunting guild in MH that oversees all the others as confirmed by 4U.
Yeah the info is similar because we got it from the same books, which is what the sources are there to indicate. As for the Guild, ill look into it again for gen 2, but the way I understood it is that the Dundorman Guild holds a strong authority within the conglomerate of Hunter's Guilds due to how respected the Grand Elder is.
I miss the old art style a bit. The guild maidens with their red and white uniforms and bandannas are iconic. I miss the more modest and rustic look of old monster hunter. I don’t mind the modern-ish looking clothes too much, but it feels more generic in wilds, like a basic medieval fantasy, it’s missing its identity somewhat I think. I guess it can be explained by location though cause every village after dos has had different styles of clothing and culture.
So we couldve gotten a MUCH BETTER MH movie if they decided to tell the story about the Hero of Kokoto. But we got the one with Milla Jovovich instead?

It’s a sword in stone man, you think it’ll be sharp? Lmao

Absolutely can't wait to use this for oc and fanfic reasons (knowing where a character is born and what monsters they've encountered)
Right behind you dude!
Glad I’m not the only one. I’m actually finishing up one of iceborne. Oceaniz inspired to greatly to do it.

I absolutely love monster hunter, i wish i had more time to play it and access to the older games
I was about to revisit your old map videos because I'm planning a DnD campaign in this setting and you hit me with this?! Amazing work man!!
It is interesting how much the outline of the mountain ranges changed from the "World of Monster Hunter" Video

looking bad at how outdated that video is makes me wonder how tf i made some of the mistakes in there
time to fixxxxx
@@Oceaniz Well then Toi toi toi.
Berna, the Flooded Forest, the Jurassic Frontier and the Tundra map have me especially interested.
I hope in the future capcom asks you to voice a character for a future monster hunter game, you are so good at being a teacher for us hunters
Oh how i will memorize this video for my dnd campain. Ive been wanting to run a monster hunter ttrpg and this is JUST what i needed

I really do hope MH team takes it's worldbuilding consistency a lil bit more seriously
JUST got done rewatching the MHW Ecology video again, then this drops, time for another to go through 💪🏼
This is so appreciated man, love learning about the monster hunter world, especially for oc creation

any Oceaniz video is a feast bigger than thanksgiving

I would really like to see a podcast like discussion about monster ecology between you and the Unatural History Chanell

Oh damn, relatively early. Looking forward to the video!
This was fantastic! I hope you make another!
Thank you for the continued content 🫡 continues to add to the Monster Hunter content that helps me sleep. Keep up the amazing work :)
Please more!! This was a great look at the map
This is 100% the type of content i want to see

Good morning/ afternoon Guardian
Man someday I want a never ending mom hunt where they will eventually get the whole map in and every monster ever
It may be the same 2009 map, but there is a world map in stories 2. Theres also a regional map.
Forest & hills is forever goated
Can’t wait for the next one
This makes me happy

Not "sentient"
