And there’s Fake Out which would be worse for the A.I. Because not only did they waste time, but it also prevented the player from using up a power point 6 protects = time and 6 PP wasted 6 fake outs = time wasted
Protect is hated by speedrunners for good reason, but also that category of play has such a fundamentally different goal and experience from every other community.
@@HowlingOneify The move hits three times (meaning Sturdy and Focus Sashes are useless) and always crit (meaning increasing defense is equally useless).

In singles stealth rock deserves all the hate. in some gens it defines the game, and still does to an extent, and being rock weak (something that generally isn't a problem since basically nothing runs rock moves outside of STAB) can cripple a pokemon's viability, certainly so if you're 4x weak to rocks. in doubles its basically a non-issue
It sorta goes both ways. Switching is way too good in singles, so hazards have to exist for the game to work at all. But then Stealth Rock is the worst designed hazard ever, by actually following the entire type chart and doing 4x damage to certain Pokemon.
@123silverslash Two of those three had Spikes, though. Really there's been a whole cascade of errors going on since the beginning. First in RBY, switching is overly free. They try to fix that in GSC with Spikes, but make flying types immune, making them too good in that gen and RSE. Then they try to fix _that_ in DPP by adding Stealth Rock which does double damage to flying types, but they make the mistake of having it follow the full type chart and making anything 4x weak to rock unusable. Then finally they patch that problem in gen 8 with heavy-duty boots, but that just reintroduces the problem where switching is free again for the mons who are forced to run it because of the type. Really, what you would want is 1) for every Pokemon to be potentially vulnerable to hazard damage, and for 2) no Pokemon type to be outright unusable just because of hazard weakness. Unfortunately, there isn't a single generation that meets both those conditions.
"People hate stealth rocks for some reason" Yea cause god forbid I want to use a fun pokemon that would vbe viable in the meta if it didn't have a 4x rock weaknesss in DPP - XY, and if I want to use it I'd have to run a defogger/rapid spinner, which plays into my pokemons defiant/ghost pokemon. Spikes was far better and more balanced, and stealth rocks decided to push the hazards mechanic over the edge. Its largely the reason why heavy duty booots got added into gen 8, which is a nicer way to deal with them, but also a lazier fix in regards to balancing hazards.
@mnm1273 damn, sounds like you're ad hoc justifying Dire Claw, cuz "Covert Cloak and Electabuzz" are so easily slappable like spinners, defoggers, non-Rock-weaks are 😂
@@TitaniumDragoonNeo This is what he meant by a "litmus test on if you're actually good at the game" Stealth rocks costs you a turn doing nothing in exchange for a long term reward. It's a good mechanic because it has a clear risk/reward and viable counterplay options (and any tool resisting hazards is useful for other cases too). Dire claw doesn't have any risk/reward you either get a good move or a great move and the counters are less viable.
@mnm1273idk it kinda did a lot to screw over anything weak to rock while also still being effective against those that aren’t. I feel like spikes were generally a lot more fair then stealth rock and seems like nowadays anything 4x weak to rock be practically forced to run Heavy Duty Boots but at least that’s an option now unlike previous gens.
@mnm1273 its not a good mechanic. There is barely any risk when that one turn of doing 'nothing' can completely make entire legions of pokemon barely usable and exacerbate the difference between weak and strong pokemon, making the victim having to compromise, wasting THEIR turns getting them out. Spikes don't do this. It would still be used if Stealth Rocks didn't factor in types.
IKRRRR, Body Slam’s paralysis is almost like 60% instead of 30%, I have so many incidents where my opponent just clutched a win just by spamming Body slam and my mons getting fully body paralysed And mons like Snorlax, Body Slam with Belly Drum plus berries is just a delete button, if not OKHOed it will severely cripple you💀
You ruined the joke. When a UA-camr says something like this, they are implying that you should not time stamp it. Time stamping it tells everyone, even those who didn't watch the video, what is going on which ruins the whole point.

stealth rock is fine for the most part it's just frustrating that it invalidates any and all non-lead focus sash strats if u don't pack a rapid spin user
@@MarkofWisdom you're technically correct, but sashers are usually fast glass cannons that get value from a single turn of boosts or an ability that stacks boosts like moxie or speed boost. meanwhile sturdy pokemon are usually slower and more defensive. sash strats are usually used to gain momentum by getting at least one or two quick kos (or in gen3, speedboost for baton pass) before going down to priority

Here’s 2 changes that would make rage first from S tier to C tier: first off you just make allies hits not boost damage, that would make it an A tier move and way less dumb, but if they really wanted it to be bad, they could make its damage multiply by 50 for every hit as well, so it does no damage until it’s hit once
Yo, did y'all know that Rage Fist Boosts don't even reset when Annihilape's knocked out? If it gets revived with Revival Blessing, the boosts STILL STICK!

Having STAB 120+ Power, 100 Accuracy spread moves with no drawbacks on absolutely jacked units that demand either Wide Guard/2 Protects or flinch/status on the users (good luck doing that to Shadow Rider) is just unfair when the other box art legends have to either go high power but inaccurate (my poor Groudon) or 100 Accuracy but below 100 Power moves and single-target for their STAB moves.

Here's my weird Bleakwind Storm story: I think it was at Stuttgart Regional last year, in my 2nd round. We were at game 3, and I had Tornadus and Gholdengo at +2, ready to knock out an Amoonguss and an Iron Hands. My idea was to use Bleakwind Storm to KO Amoonguss and damage Iron Hands enough to KO it with a Shadow Ball, and on the next turn my opponent's Hisuian Arcanine would come in, and I'd use Tailwind and Make It Rain. Well, I missed Bleakwind on Amoonguss, and I thought I'd lose. Thank God my opponent had used Pollen Puff because he thought I'd protect. I won because of that misplay, otherwise I'd've lost

And there’s Fake Out which would be worse for the A.I. Because not only did they waste time, but it also prevented the player from using up a power point
6 protects = time and 6 PP wasted
6 fake outs = time wasted
Protect is hated by speedrunners for good reason, but also that category of play has such a fundamentally different goal and experience from every other community.
3 times in a row
Had a wild aron triple protect in the middle of victory road once
add the urshifu moves to the list. Not enfuriating from randomness, but because theres basically no counterplay to them
The moves aren’t the issue it’s their abilities
@@HowlingOneify The move hits three times (meaning Sturdy and Focus Sashes are useless) and always crit (meaning increasing defense is equally useless).
@ and? This doesn’t make the move busted or unfair. It’s just really good.
I feel like their moves are slightly too good in general but when combined with urshifu’s ridiculous stats and stupid ability that Mon is so Frustrating. The moves are fine to just a little too good.
@@rileyackison4495 urshifu is a few pretty good things coming together to make the most annoying mon possible
@ the competitive integrity of every gen before 4 makes a very sound argument that stealth rocks are not mandatory for a balanced game
3:24 to skip ad
An ad played during the ad. It's adsception
Kind of proving the point. You're literally just bitter that one Pokemon is unviable and lashing out at a well made move in response
@mnm1273 damn, sounds like you're ad hoc justifying Dire Claw, cuz "Covert Cloak and Electabuzz" are so easily slappable like spinners, defoggers, non-Rock-weaks are 😂
@@TitaniumDragoonNeo This is what he meant by a "litmus test on if you're actually good at the game"
Stealth rocks costs you a turn doing nothing in exchange for a long term reward.
IKRRRR, Body Slam’s paralysis is almost like 60% instead of 30%, I have so many incidents where my opponent just clutched a win just by spamming Body slam and my mons getting fully body paralysed
And mons like Snorlax, Body Slam with Belly Drum plus berries is just a delete button, if not OKHOed it will severely cripple you💀
You ruined the joke. When a UA-camr says something like this, they are implying that you should not time stamp it. Time stamping it tells everyone, even those who didn't watch the video, what is going on which ruins the whole point.
You can acknowledge that a move is good or even necessary for the format you're playing and still hate it. Hating Stealth Rock or Fake Out is not a skill issue.
Maushold: *lightly touches Annihilape*
Annihilape: 😡 (blows up the opponent)
Nobody would think bug bite needs to be removed from the game but he made the case and changed my mind bro has a point
1:01 I thought you had said ‘off’, so seemed like you going to say ‘off your neighbor’. My mind was racing with trying to figure out what was going to be that bad, till you finished ‘a hug’.
I wasn’t really expecting struggle to make the cut, but I totally get that once you’re in a situation to use the move it almost feels like a personal insult
stealth rock is fine for the most part it's just frustrating that it invalidates any and all non-lead focus sash strats if u don't pack a rapid spin user
not really now heavy duty boots are a thing
@@thejuiceking2219 focus sash strats can't run heavy duty boots???
@@mikubrot maybe heavy duty boots combined with a pokemon with sturdy? Sturdy is effectively a free focus sash
It especially sucks because the only fast sturdy is Ogerpon, who can't hold boots anyway because she has to hold the Cornerstone mask...
ok, the persona 5 refrance in the thumbnail was fucking amazing..
I’m glad to see I’m not the only person that finds Mean Look to be as annoying as it is. It’s arena trap - a BANNED ability in singles - but as a move? Insanity
You're absolutely right, we need to get rid of ridiculous moves like Seismic Toss and Night Shade. 100 flat damage at max level is just WAY too busted.
Thank god someone finally said it. Air cutter is far too strong. It does feel a little extreme to completely ban the use of work up, with the punishment being beaten to death, but I can't say I disagree
So true, Honchcrow with Super Luck + Air Cutter + Scope Lens for a cofirmed Crit on BOTH Opponents is genuinely insane, I don't know WHAT they were thinking when they designed that Move.
@BreadBup I once had that happen to me. Literally no counter play, it blew up my switch.
Thank you for covering Banette’s signature move, Made You Look. It’s just Follow Me but you can target the opponent, making their partner attack them. So busted.
i know dark void has been illegal for 8 years but i was expecting that it would be mentioned
The fact that extreme speed has a chance to flinched used on grass type is insane
I can't believe how annoying attract is in vgc, it's such an stupid move that I am glad it is on this list
I didn’t realize quick attack was so broken and hated but man your right, it’s really unhealthy for the game.
I never really thought String Shot was that strong but you really convinced me there
To be fair I only learned today that it was buffed to lower both opponent's speed for 2 stages.
That is so dang strong of a speed control! Why use Icy wind or Electro web when you have access to String shot? It makes so much sense.
Bro you are so right about how strong constrict is cause like that speed drop is so busted, like a 1/3 to just let you out speed the enemies... I hope whoever made that has to listen to baby shark on repeat constantly for the rest of their life
5:09 Look it's TCNick3
You're right, Headbutt being learned by every single non-mythical Serene Grace Pokemon is super broken. That 60% flinch chance you never see coming!
Man, I never realized how broken infestation could be. Thanks Moxie for informing me on the horrors of bug type moves.
It sucks that springtide storm doesn't get any weather accuracy boost. IMO to fit with where each reside in Legends Arceus wildbolt should be rain boosted. Bleakwind should be snow boosted. Sandsear should be sandboosted. Springtide should be sun boosted.
I can't believe SPLASH is the most hated move in the game I didn't realize it had that special effect
That Dire Claw thumbnail is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✨✨✨⭐⭐⭐
This is probably the best thumbnail I've seen this year. Absolutely godly work of art
The fact that Rage Fist remembers hits after switching, but Slow Start doesn't remember turns, is just a massive slap in the face from GameFreak.
Completely agree about having to remove Whirlpool, literally the most op move in the game and I hope I never have to run against it
I do agree that seeing someone click Tackle off of their Tyranitar into you at a major tournament just does too much psionic damage to the player to allow the move to continue existing
Persona 5 reference thumbnail ❤
Stealth rock is stupid because a bunch of floating rocks shouldn't stay out indefinitely. They should go away at some point like weather.
It's almost a crime when I see non rock or non magic enabled Pokemon use it.
I don't play though, just watch 😅
Weather doesn't take a turn to setup if you run a drizzle mon.
The risk reward here isn't comparable.
Bro, they really need to remove avalanche from the game. 120 base power when you move after the opponent? Over-powered. And it has such a big learnset. Like, if Avalugg didn’t get it, I guess it would be balanced, but here we are.
That thumbnail goes so hard
Yo, did y'all know that Rage Fist Boosts don't even reset when Annihilape's knocked out?
If it gets revived with Revival Blessing, the boosts STILL STICK!
You are so correct about whirlpool being annoying. The fact that it can trap you just for it to remove your sash and do damage is stupid annoying. Delete from the game immediately.
Im so glad you brought up the absolute horrors of fire pledge and grass pledge combo. That constant damge is just so damn broken 😢
12:15 WallyTheBandit my boyyyyy
You have opened my eyes to the fact that we need to get rid of Salt Cure. Truly THE BLENDER is the most toxic and overpowered strategy ever created
I don’t get why Game Freak thought to make Mycelium Might a thing if they brought Dire Claw into this world.
Also they should give Dusknoir Iron Fist and Rage Fist.
You brought up a good point about Reckless Take Down with Normal Tera and how it’s the reason you see so many rock/steel/ghost types in the current meta
I know it's not gonna be here, but I hate the Calyrex Riders' signature moves and Kyogre having access to Water Spout.
I love seeing the weird second order effects that happen in pokemon
"What's the result of adding an insane poison move that does lots of effects?"
"Uhh.... elecatbuzz is good now!)
I didn’t even know bind was viable, let alone broken. 🤯
Moxie: Starts talking about sleep-inducing moves
Me: Finally, took him long enough to get to Dark Vo-
Moxie: Hypnosis
Me: O-oh. Okay, guess we're saving the obvious #1 most annoying VGC move for last, that's fair
Moxie: ends the video never mentioning Dark Void
Me: ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Dark void was nerfed so hard that hypnosis gets used more
@@MoxieBoosted Ah, I assumed it was more of an "overall" than "currently" kinda list.
god i always loved fire spin as a kid, so glad to see it's tilting how powerful it is in fire stall. like damn they really just made heat wave better!
Just had 2 games in a row where my opponent double connected on heat wave and burned my physical attacker on the field so that move is high on my list right now lol
Random ass fake tears by a prankster pokemon got me foaming, im sooo glad you finally mention this behemoth of a move
Yeah, I agree. Whirlpool is a completely busted move. Slap it on a Galarian Corsola with and eviolite and you can trap an opponent's physical normal or fighting type mon and bask in the fact that they are most likely howling in rage. It seriously needs a nerf.
5:50 If Game Freak thinks it's OK to have moves like Rage Fist and Last Respects with ridiculously high damage caps, honestly they should bring back Explosion and Self-Destruct halving the target's defense like it did before Gen 5. And also bring back Hyper Beam skipping the recharge turn if it KOs like it did in Gen 1
They never saw it coming 😤
Body Slam having a 90% chance to paralyze is insane. They gotta remove it.
Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. Meteor Mash is in serious need of a nerf gen 10
After I lost 4 games in a row to fire spin I quit competitive pokemon
Preach dude, if they don't remove Growl or Leer from the game, I give up. Lowers BOTH opposing Pokémon's attack or defense respectively? Shivers my timbers every time.
I tried to tell everyone how busted Bestow was, but did anyone listen? Nope!!!
So happy you covered it in this video.
Youre right Moxie, Silk Trap really is the new Dark Void. I also hope they do something to rework it in gen ten.
I didn't know poison sting had any competitive use,but You actually convinced me
I am so glad someone finally talked about how op bounce is, you get to be invincible for a full turn, do damage and maybe get a para hax? good gosh this move is so strong no wonder it has only 85% accuracy otherwise it break the game
"I know you have all at least touched a Pokemon game before."
You, sir, underestimate how poor I am.

For some reason I thought of the idea of a move that redirects your opponent's moves... To their partner.
Sneasler really just said "You'll never see it comingggggg" in the thumbnail lol
Not being able to switch out and the fact that it is a type that can hit almost every type neutral if not for effective damage (except grass tipes) and also damage you each too along having 2 item that makes his effects more powerful and it also deals double damage to pokemons using dive, whilpoorl is definetly one of the most outrageos moves in all pokemon
Imagine if Ally Switch, as it is now, was more commonly used in the meta. Just having it on your team sheet is basically attacking your opponent directly during tournaments.
Finally, someone brings up the absolute suffering that is Magical Leaf.
I'm glad i'm not the only one throwing my controller at european walls whenever someone clicks Whirlpool
The most hated move was turning Weavile into an ugly human-sized fursuit.
You're completely right, Pay Day is such a pain to play against. Everytime I lose against my opponent I have to give them my hard earned cash, as if the trip to regionals wasn't expensive enough.
Recently I just played Pokémon White and I immediately learned about just how inconsistent and frustrating Scald is thanks to Cheren's Simipour.
When that stupid monke uses Scald, my Pokémon always gets a Burn.
But when my Samurott uses Scald, it never burns the damn monkey.
I eventually replaced Scald with Surf.
wow, I never realized that game freak buffed whirlpool like that. I wish I never knew its true power.
Worst thing that can happen after you pressed Dire Claw is the target Gothitelle tera to steel and its partner Jirachi pressing Encore on you.
Thank you for finally addressing the fire spin problem, someone needed to talk about it.
