It's a shame what any addiction can do to a person even smoking cigarettes. They control you night and day. Don't you miss the day's of being young and no concept of addiction. That's why it's so important to build relationships with people you can trust so you have a strong support system so you never go down that path. She had a brilliant voice. She was a unique individual with so much to lose but yet she continued because the addiction can be that strong. To all the ones famous or not who've lost someone to addiction you are not alone and it's not your fault. All you can do is be there. That's it!

She wouldn't have made it easy for anyone close, to tell her what would be the best next moves for her, health & career-wise. Amy was a very head strong girl & I admire her a lot for that, unfortunately though one's own "attitude/Ego" gets in the way of Recovery. Recovery is about 'Change', Self-Exceptance, Humility, Surrendering, Stopping 'battlling' and rather focusses more on Help from other "Addicts", through their Experiences, Strength & Hope. Get a 'Sponser', (An addict in Recovery who is ready to Help a suffering addict on a more inter-personal basis, taking them through the 12 step program), to help you with advice, accompany you to AA/NA Meetings, etc..

An addict never admit to addiction. Only her parents can forcefully take her under their care and look after her. It breaks any parents heart to see their child self destructing.
