@@Rimea yeah! this attention to detail is similar to what Nintendo did for this game, it really feels like an official level! also, for the flower which change the bouncing platform into a donut (to access the sub area), I really liked the fact that the mechanic was introduced just before, it's typically the kind of thing that does Nintendo, it's awesome!
@@jared_micleaYou can, its just that Snow Pokeys aren't normally in this game, so there's no object for them. Here they are reskinned regular Pokeys with a clever tell of leaving the spike on the head so you know you can't stomp on them.
I thought the ice skating koopas were in the game and I just forgot about them, but when the snow pokey showed up I realized they were both custom made. I'm super impressed!!!
Man, you really outdid yourself, you really got a whole on snow pokey model and hard-coded in all the segments and proportions to get it working in the game. Props to you, you got my respect
The biggest compliment I can give this is watching this, I thought I just missed this level. Great job! The Snow Pokeys look, act, and are placed believably, and the section with helping the ice skating koopa with the purple coin was really clever. Well done!
2:29 this feels like the perfect way to hide a 10 purple coin (I mean he kinda did but still) or even a wonder flower in plain sight, wonder what will be next. oh god I did not mean for that pun
The whole time I was just wondering what the wonder event would be and the moment it happened I was like “that makes so much sense. Amazing job as always.
I'm watching the video, see the wonder flower and im thinking to myself "ok, what effect are they gonna REUSE this time" and then suddenly i see AN ENTIRELY NEW EFFECT?!?!?! All your levels so far have been great but this is just above and beyond, great job :D
This is probably the best one yet! The unique Wonder Effect is cool, though I wish there was a bit more gameplay to it. The best part was definitely that third 10 coin; it felt like it came straight from a Kirby game (my favorite 2D platformer series).
This is one of the most ambitious custom levels yet, two new enemies and a creative application of an existing wonder effect as well as cool things with the blue flowers is crazy
The snow pokeys and ice skater koopas look so natural I didn't even notice they weren't in the game originally until you pointed it out. But more than that, the flow of the level and the way the ideas are played around is just so good. My only nitpick would be that the wonder effect ended slightly bit sooner than I was expecting. Awesome work nonetheless!
It was nice to actually see the background for the wonder effect clearly because in game it only appears in the giant snowball effect and in that one the background constantly moves
The themeing is so darling! I love the blue ice skating koopas, and I love the combination of elements. Thr ice koopas amd bouncing platforms play well together and the falling blocks add nice platform variety. I adore both the third purple coin and the wonder sections especially, so creative and joyful. Excellent as always!
Woah. The Bouncy wonder segment surprised me. Plus the snow pokies were a cool touch. This level looks neat! (Also I love how the rolla koopas are ice skating now!)
I love this levelll It feels like a really long one which makes it stand out and gives you more time to hang out in it which looks really nice, and I love the subroom too!! Reminds me of Kirby secret rooms…
omg i never realized that this was a custom level until I read the comments! Well done! I actually thought this was in the game lol. I kept thinking to myself that this reminded me of a mario maker level cus you make creative use of the elements like that underground section where you're helping out the koopa with the purple coin. Awesome!
Overall, I am impressed with the level design and aesthetics. The snow pokey may not be able to be jumped on like in Super Mario Maker 2, but the use of the SMBW Snow Pokeys adds a unique touch to the level. Keep up the great work! ❤
One of my favorite part was the coin at 2:41 but it also made me realize one could make a coin where you had to race the koopa to get it in time, similarly to the dolphin badge
This looks incredible! I think the only critique i have is the 10 coin at 0:48 because it happens offscreen and behind you. Although I wonder if I was playing the level and not just watching it if I would have internalized the pokey being on a bounce platform better. I really liked the sections eith swapping the bounce platforms and donuts, really good level gimmick!
Thanks! Setups like the first 10 coin are tricky to get right from a level design standpoint because you don't want to offer the solution to the player *before* they've even seen the puzzle, I feel like it's still pretty obvious where you're meant to go when you trigger that bud (the blue trails go off to the left after all) but I can definitely see what you mean.
@@Rimea yeah, I agree. I wonder if not having the koopa there so that instead of hitting the bud with a shell from a distance you had to walk up to it would have been enough?
@@Rimea right, but having the shell as an option is why the results of the bud are off screen. If that koopa wasn't there it would be much more likely that a player would see the results of the bud directly, instead of needing to remember what it looked like.
Felt like a missed opportunity to not use the slippery player physics for the Wonder Effect. You could slide with the skating Koopas without having to replace every block with square bumpers, while placing bouncing mushroom at the edge of the platform to do jumps. The 3rd 10-coin room is very nice.
That gave me an idea for an ice skating badge like in Mario Galaxy. But you won't slide, you can run faster, and also gives you an axle jump (this does apply to other terrains though).
Hey! I really like this level overall, the switching with the bouncing blocks and the donut blocks is a nice touch. I love the underground subarea with the koopa on skates. There is ome thing in my opinion that feels underutilized and that's the drill powerup. It kind of feels like its just there and cant really be used for much. In the base game there were always either secrets that you could travel to in or even 10 flower coins that required the powerup. Even in the gameplay its main function of digging into the ground is barely seen. Other then that i really enjoyed the level and I cannot wait to see whats next from you!
The inclusion of the drill powerup was definitely a bit of an afterthought, but personally I also don't really enjoy locking secrets behind powerups that much. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing you're missing out on a secret just because you don't have the powerup the level expects you to have, and having to potentially replay the level because of that. The drill is still useful, especially for defeating and evading pokeys, but I didn't show that in this video because I wanted to demonstrate more of a "vanilla" playthrough of the sections. I think powerup-specific secrets are often just more lazy substitutes for secrets that actually cleverly use the actual mechanics of the level.
Man its currious to watch you put together these wonder levels. Somewhat a shame i don't have a cracked switch cause i don't really have a way to extract the rom to work with
Dude it keeps getting more and more impressive every custom level. Only thing is that I think the last purple coin could be included in the wonder effect although it’s more of a personal choice
yeah this surprised me as well since other objects like the talking flowers or wonder buds don't bounce on them, I suppose there's some kind of universal enemy code that includes bouncing
There are some creators just understand level design. You are one of the ones that just "gets it". All your custom Wonder levels have looked so fun!
How does this have 1 like?
because it doesn't make sense i think he forgot to type a word@@coolkidzbacon
I really like how you made the shell of the Rolla Koopas blue, it's just a detail but it makes the level credible, like if it was not fan made

I loved the part where the flower says I wouldn't stay here if I were here.
It reminded me more of that one 1-up in 1-2 of Super Mario Bros. 1
Fun Fact, you can crush spiked enemies by ground pounding them in the drill form. This could help save you in tight situations with the Snow Pokeys.
indeed, the drill suit's effectiveness against pokeys is the main reason I included the powerup in this level
Also, I thought you could step on a snow pokey’s head lol

OMG same but only I was thinking like "There were snow pokeys in this game?" It looked that good
The skating koopas have purple shells in the game, it's just that they were recolored to have light blue shells
I like the swapping of doughnut and bouncy blocks used at some points in the level (like for one of the ten-coins and at the flag).

3:27 wow, how long did it take to place all of these objects? I’ve used fushigi and it seems like this would take forever
you can place multiple of a single object by holding shift, but yeah it still took ages, especially to link the wonder effect to every object
I love the choice to have the koopas ice skating
