Would love to see you make a video of a book bound all in French stitch! The ones by other book binders were helpful, but no one is better than you for explaining in your videos.
I love your videos! Whenever I’m bored of lockdown I just watch your videos. I only started watching yesterday and I’m so addicted to your videos!Thank you so much for making inspiring videos!
My eyes always go to the top left corner where the bookshelf is visible. Seeing all those books 📚 of different sizes and colors is so good! And thank you for another great bookbinding stitch tutorial. Will definitely try it.
I love that the covers are made of canvasses. That's such a neat idea! eta: oh cool -- I've never heard of the French link stitch, but I've actually been using it without knowing what it's called in my case binding stuff for a while now. I "discovered" it after some experimenting because I was trying to find a way to get neat, individual stitches on the inside, instead of one long line of thread. Nice to know what the stitch is actually called! I don't do coptic but I've always thought it would look neat on something with an open spine.
I would love a traditional french link tutorial! 😍 I have been binge-catching-up on your videos this morning and I am sooooo excited to get back into bookbinding! Thank you for being awesome!
You always make such great bookbinding tutorials!! With detailed explanations and closeups to the binding part of it so everything is easier to follow.
That looks wonderful. I think for me it would be a battle to keep the tension correct for the last signature and cover. I'd love to give it a go though. I love learning. I'd love to see the traditional method for the french stitch as well if it's not too much trouble. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay safe and well. Blessings
Crikey that looked really difficult! I am going to stick with Coptic stitch. I love the canvas panel idea for the cover! Thanks for making such a detailed step by step video!
I love your bookbinding tutorials!!! Please do a traditional French Link video! I would also love to learn how to do one with the ribbon behind the stitches.
Yay! I did it. It took me three hours after I make the covers but I love 💕 it. Inspired by geodes. Homemade Xmas gifts. Thanks so much for your clear tutorial. Wish I could share a pic.
Been wanting this tutorial for a long time!!! Thank you so much for this video 😍 I've tried the French link last time but it was not sturdy enough to hold the book, gonna try this variation soon!
The closeups were very helpful. I eventually realized that each of the Xs of the French Link is a separate entity - they do not continuously link together. Edit: Apparently this is incorrect and the FL stitches DO in fact link to each other. Except mine didn't stay evenly spaced for some reason. They looked like Xs that got crossed at lower and lower points and not in the middle. If I did it correctly, I get a blank spot inside the signature at the FL stitch because the thread goes to the outside of the signature; this is intentional and not an error. I watch your videos many, many times at .75 speed or even .50 speed. Wish I could give a LIKE for each viewing. Love all of your videos. I also found the traditional French Link stitch method you mentioned in your video. Thank you for this. I'll keep trying until I get it right.
Just followed this tutorial as my first bookbind. It’s a good first attempt! I bound too tight so my cover sticks up but I feel that’s something you learn from experience. Took me about an hour and a half tho
You make THE video we needed to combine those binding methods ! I love to paint my covers too with painted, paste or cuve papers and love those technics too ! Thank you so much
Beautiful way to bind books! I do have one question. How would you insert beads on the threads during binding? At what point do you put a bead on the thread? I admire the way that you show how to do projects. Your instructions and videos are so clear.
I loved this combination. It was obvious (to me at least) that you put some real time into how to finish off that last signature and cover while maintaining the look of the link stitch. Well done! I've saved the video as this is one I'll definitely be trying (probably the very next book!). On a side note, I've been trying to find a tutorial on how to bind an Ethiopian binding and I'm having no luck at all. Basically it looks very much like a traditional Coptic binding, but there are multiple loops around the cover board. I may be wrong, but couldn't you simply make multiple loops around the cover and attach it the way you would any other Coptic bound book? I've been experimenting myself, just not sure if I'm doing it right. If you know of or can find something and are willing to share either by email or with a tut, I'd love it! Love all of your vids. When I can subscribe to the Patreon channel, I most assuredly will (finances allowing.....*sigh). Thank you for all of your hard work!
Hey Jennifer! I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I love them. but I’ve noticed that most of the processes are tedious. There are a ton of inexpensive methods of speeding the process. You can build something that’s called a book plough and it allows you to trim your pages with immense speed. It’s basically the same as building a book press and pulling a box cutter razor against the pages! Also when you fold the signatures you can fold all of the pages at once if you press them against a fence (like a ruler) hope you get this and maybe even respond if you can. Have a good rest of quarantine! 😊
Oooooh, I tried my hand at acrylic pour and am not really thrilled enough to hang it somewhere on my wall. But it’s cute enough to use as a sketchbook cover. Oh, wait, now that I’m writing this out I realize it’s not canvas board, but actual canvas. Shoot. Perhaps I can pry off the canvas from the frame, stick it to chipboard and use it like that. I can always repurpose the frame.
Another question. So you have a video on doing Coptic binding with more than one needle? I've seen shots of people using five or six needles and have no idea how to do that. Also, can you use beads using more than one needle?
LOL 3 fourths (or 1 fourth) always gets me, in the UK we say 3 quarters (or 1 quarter etc) I know what you mean but my brain always stops and thinks about it for a second LOL
Gorgeous! What weight paper do you recommend for this? I have so much 80lb cover but I feel like it would be way too stiff and don’t know what I can use it for
Hi! I have made my very first books using the Coptic stitch and my only two, I'm still very new to this. I was wondering if there was a way to do the French Link after the Coptic stitching was done? I did give it try but it didn't look right so what I decided to do is put an X shape design in the middle of the book so it didn't look like I left a complete row of stitching out. I would send a picture but I'm not sure that I can?
I just made my own hard cover, case bound art journal. How do I make sure there’s enough room for the pages to “grow”? The spine is much smaller than I expect my pages to end up.
Could one add a cover to a book like this by wrapping leather (or thick fabric) around it and glueing it to the outsides of the boards? I like that it lies flat, but for a book to take into the wild outdoors, the exposed stitching on the spine is just asking for -trouble- dust and moisture... :D
Me encanta la forma como trabajas y explicas. Muchas gracias. Me encantaría saber como hiciste esa pintura de las portadas por favor. Son increíbles!!!! Abracitos de colores desde Colombia!!!! 🤗🤗🤗💕🇨🇴
Do you have a video on creating A3 bound books, and using tape to create the signatures? I'm a music librarian and we do commissions in my orchestra and I would love to give composers a copy of their score not just neatly bound with tape... I'm sorry if I missed this somewhere!
hi jennifer. i've found this stitch called the ladder back stitch (at least according to the one place in english i've found it, ruthbleakley.com) that i think looks very pretty, i guess it looks bit similar to this one/coptic stitch with a twist. i was wondering if you could find out how to do it and make a tutorial? thanks for all your great videos btw, they're really helpful and inspiring!
Could you possibly show the durability of the books after you’ve made them? I’m curious how flimsy/wobbly the finished product may be, I wonder if anyone else is curious as well!
Those canvases came out even prettier as book covers. I love them!
These will make amazing personal gifts for people. Especially now with folk at home, to receive one of these in the post.
Please do another video on this French Stitch.
Just made a watercolour sketchbook using these techniques - thank you so much for the detailed instructions!
You are the BEST bookbinding teacher ever!!!!! Thank you.
This is so cute. I love how interesting the binding is.
Would love to see you make a video of a book bound all in French stitch! The ones by other book binders were helpful, but no one is better than you for explaining in your videos.

My eyes always go to the top left corner where the bookshelf is visible. Seeing all those books 📚 of different sizes and colors is so good! And thank you for another great bookbinding stitch tutorial. Will definitely try it.
Your videos are the best out there for learning how to do this kind of thing. Thank you for taking time to share with all of us. 🌹🌹
So pretty. I just used this to make a little sketchbook for my Mom, for her birthday! Ty so much for these tutorials!
I love that the covers are made of canvasses. That's such a neat idea!

Brilliant tutorial . So clear and concise! Love your style!
Really interesting so looking forward to trying this method. Very well photographed as well, loved the close ups of the stitching.

Wonderful video...my two most favorite stitches combined!!! This will be my next project! 💗💗💗
Crikey that looked really difficult! I am going to stick with Coptic stitch. I love the canvas panel idea for the cover! Thanks for making such a detailed step by step video!
Beautiful! Very helpful tutorial 👍🏼 I love this binding method... Always keen for more 😁
I love your bookbinding tutorials!!! Please do a traditional French Link video! I would also love to learn how to do one with the ribbon behind the stitches.

Thank you so much for this video! I've got some canvas panels I was hoping to use as covers, and it's nice to see how it works!
This is so pretty. I can't wait to give it a try
This was beautiful. I'm going to try this one. I already did the Coptic stitch book you did before.
This is really good. I love how it came out.
Chain pull book cover?! Awesome!

Just shared your first copic stitch video to Facebook! Starting these this year! #bored
Wonderful tutorial, thank you!!!

It looks gorgeous! I’m thinking I might make one of these as a little recipe notebook. Always love your bookbinding tutorials 😻

Wow I love your creations and all your videos 😍😍
Can you do a video how to decorate a notebook? Or a journal ? For example
That's funny. I just tried this style out. I like how it turned out
You make THE video we needed to combine those binding methods ! I love to paint my covers too with painted, paste or cuve papers and love those technics too ! Thank you so much
This stitching looks so pretty! How well do these covers made from canvases hold up?
The board inside seems a little tougher than regular book board I use (not sure what material is inside) so they seem to hold up well!
Thank you very much for teaching us in the best way, excellent Thank you very much for teaching us in the best way, excellent work,. 💜💜💜🤗🤗
You are so talented
Love your channel! Can you make a video on a birthday gift for a cousin? I really need some ideas.
Thank you this was fun!
I love your videos Jennifer
Hey! I saw the live stream where the covers were made!
Definitely wan an entire lesson on the French Link bind.

Silly question, to trim the 9 x 12 sketch paper 1/8”, do you trim after the signatures are stacked on each side, or when it’s 9x12 ? Thank you
Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I have been wanted to learn French link stitch. I will be making this book tonight. How do I order a shirt?
I would love to see a piano hinge binding tutorial! It's intimidating...

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍Belíssimo!! Um passo a passo muito detalhado, tornando possível fazer junto e chegar próximo desse modelo.
Hello! Do you think this can be done with two needles so I can have a two color Coptic + French link bound book?
All the best,
TS
I would like to see the Coptic French stitch with a leather hardcover.
I just made my own hard cover, case bound art journal. How do I make sure there’s enough room for the pages to “grow”? The spine is much smaller than I expect my pages to end up.

is it possible to use different threads for the French link and the Coptic stitch?

Do you have a new cutting mat recommendation? The link shown in the video description goes to a product that is no longer available.
I hope you get new ideas by asking subscribers for example .It will really develop your content. 🙂
For a coptic stitch why do you double thread the needle?
Could you possibly show the durability of the books after you’ve made them? I’m curious how flimsy/wobbly the finished product may be, I wonder if anyone else is curious as well!
I appreciate all of your videos and I can’t wait to try out this method! 😍
Oh My Book! These look so beautiful. Will definitely try this.
