  • Wall-E is a great film and all, but do you remember it had not one but two very different console games???
Do they still hold up in general or are they trash??

FOR NEW VIEWERS OF THIS VIDEO, PLEASE READ:
Heya, soo after reading the comments from you guys on this video, i did try out the PS3/360 version of Wall-e. It indeed has bigger levels then the wii version and i will say that if you are gonna play the heavy iron version of Wall-e, then i would strongly recommend trying the 360/PS3 version. However, unfortunately i won't be making a video on it, since while i do think it's a better game, most of my thoughts on the wii game are still for the most part carried over, soo i wouldn't really have enough new too say that would justify a video just on the PS3/360 Version. (plus in general, i have alot of video projects that i really need too focus on rn, it's been very busy for me). It's still a good game, and i do apologize for not covering it in the video instead of the wii version. but it's still not something i would replay too much.
    Old pinned comment:
Heya, hope you all enjoyed the vid. Sorry it took soo long too come out, i had a bunch of problems with my editing software that caused some delays. But hope you all enjoyed it regardless!! >:3 ❤️

i played both versions as a kid and i still believe the ps2 version holds up better due to
*the inclusion of a playable backstory.
*controls that feel accurate and perfect to use (unlike the wii's clunky and junky physics)
*2 player modes that don't entirely destroy continuity.
*levels that actually more fun to play, unlike the wii's puzzles that feel like working in a coal mine.
*a impressive game engine that made games look better than most ps4 games today!
*the feeling that the developers actually cared about this game and successfully made a game that never fails to impress.

I've played both the Asobo & Heavy Iron versions of the WALL-E video game. As a huge fan of WALL-E I really like both games. I don't which game is better but there both really fun. I really don't understand the poor reviews on the game. Both WALL-E games really capture the spirit of the movie in my honest opinion.

I think that between the 2 games, the PS2 version is waaaay better written compared to the Wii version, and that's because of the build-up of events. In the PS2 game, things lead up to certain events before they play out, while in the Wii game they just sort of... happen, with little to no connection with the levels.
For example, when EVE first comes to Earth. In the PS2 game, there's a short "level" at Wall-E's house where the red dot from the movie shows up, and you spend a brief period of time chasing it around before entering a new level where a cutscene plays with the rocket landing. In the Wii version, Wall-E just sort of stumbles upon the ship after it landed, with no build-up or connection to the previous level. It just sort of... occurs, and I find it pretty anti-climactic throughout the entire game.

I had so many countless hours on the PS2 version as a kid that I mainly remember it more than the actual film tbh. I really love the OSTs as well, it makes me feel very nostalgic.
I sorta grew up with the Heavy Iron version but it was mainly just a PS3 demo and I never played that version until I decided to play the Wii version back in 2020.
I've also played the DS version long ago that I decided to revisit it not too long ago but it's definitely not as good as the console versions.

Something interesting about the Wii version was that it wasn't going to be made by Heavy Iron, their version started only for PS3/360 until halfway through THQ ordered them to port their game to the Wii (why they didn't go with Asobo again like Ratatouille is beyond me). As a result they changed some things on the Wii version so it could even run at all, like splitting the levels with multiple loading screens while on PS3/360 most levels are loaded all at once and are continuous, and some sections were actually removed on Wii meaning the PS3/360 versions are slightly longer. Heavy Iron's Up however was planned and made for all three consoles from the start so besides the graphics it won't have major differences.

When I was a little kid I had the game on Wii, and always wondered why the end of level 1 and the secret area that you should be able to get to was mysteriously not there.

The Axiom landfill character swap change came super late in the development of the movie, like 6 months from release or something, so that same change probably wasn't made for the game due to time and budget. I still want to see that initial idea of Trash Planet with the monarchy of goo creatures instead of a ship of big fat humans.

I played both versions, and I 100% prefer the PS3 version over the PC version. The controls in the PC version are so uncomfortable, and even jumping from one place to another is a pain. I wonder if the PS2 controls are better than its PC version, but it's certainly not a game I would play again due to its slow pacing, honestly. Everything else you said is pretty much true. I'm glad there are finally in-depth review videos on this game, and I enjoyed this one a lot. But Crystal Omega, if you are reading this comment, the one critique/request I would give regarding this is make an additional review video covering more of the Heavy Iron PS3/360 version VS the Wii game. You honestly kind of skimmed over the Heavy Iron version and gave more attention to the Osobo version, and I strongly implore diving deeper into the significance of the latter game. Because what a lot of people may not know is that the Wii version is a highly scaled down port of the 360/PS3 version. And I don't mean that it looks visually worse or has worse controls - I mean the game is scaled down to the significance of entire parts of levels being removed. I don't know why they thought it was a good idea or business decision to port this version to the Wii, but the amount of cut content is really not worth any justification to have the Heavy Iron version fit on the console at all. There is as much as 30 to 40 minutes of content missing from the Wii game in some levels.
I remember first playing the Osobo game on my old computer when I was a little kid and learning that the Heavy Iron version was a different game altogether. I wanted to play it and I was interested by some of its adventure platforming, but the only console I had other than my old Windows 7 computer was my Wii. And some time after playing through the Wii game a bit, I watched someone playing the Xbox 360 version for a level guide and realized the difference. The entire end of the first level as well as the secret area unlockable only by 100 per cent completing the level, were completely absent in the Wii game. I remember trying every way imaginable to somehow activate that platform in the white building to get into the end of the level and to the secret area. I scouted all three stages in level 1 looking for some sort of alternate route to get to the secret area. But all my exploration resulted to nothing. I was pretty upset for a long time, as the Nintendo Wii was my only console as a little kid, and I even did research online about the significance of the differences. But once again my efforts resulted in nothing.
When I finally got an Xbox 360, one of the first games I asked my parents to purchase on it was Wall-E. I was really anxious to see if my Xbox 360 copy of the game was the actual full game with all content included. After playing this version, I would, and I say this without exaggeration, honestly go as far as to say that I thought it was a better game after playing the Xbox 360 version VS the Wii version. Level 1 alone was packed with about 30 extra minutes of gameplay and content. And there is even a whole unlockable level on the Axiom that equates to about an hour sidequest/gameplay. Like my mind was blown at how enormous the cut content was, and what a MUCH bigger and grander game I was experiencing. I was in complete shock at the rip off I had been playing before this, and in even more disbelief at there being NOTHING online or on UA-cam discussing any of this at the time.
Even now there aren't very many video reviews that directly allude to this significance. I'm not sure if you've played the 360/PS3 game to make any distinct comparisons. But I think doing a video specifically analyzing the Heavy Iron game and the factors I brought up would be very illuminating to probably a lot of people and give some solid material to review.
Also, side note, I've managed to emulate the PS3 version of the game, and the Wii version, with the PS3 emulation having a slight graphical issue, if anyone knows anything about it at all.

I myself find it somewhat interesting that both WALL-E & G-Force had several different video game adaptions: in a similar fashion to WALL-E the G-Force video game had releases on multiple platforms, but with significant differences between the PC/PS2/PS3/Wii/X360, PSP, & DS versions (the levels are all generally the same in terms of layout though). Said differences with both games are understandable however when you factor in the limitations of some platforms.

These were fascinating games. I think my first exposure was a trailer for the PS3/360 version on youtube, which had me fairly hyped. I first played the last gen version on PC via the demo you could get from the Wall-e website back in the day and later got the full version on PS2 . And I quite liked it, even though I really wanted to try the HD version, but I lacked a 7th gen system. I got to play a little of the 360 version since my uncle owned a 360 and the game, and I later borrowed my friend's copy of the Wii version, which felt different than the 360 port, but I figured my memory was failing me.
I recently acquired and played the PS3 version, and the experience was intriguing. My memory didn't fail me, the Wii version really does lack parts of levels. Several levels on the Wii version end prematurely, most likely, the Wii couldn't fit the whole levels in memory. Seems the decision to port the PS360 version to the Wii was a bad one. The Wii is after all really just the equivalent of a GameCube Pro. I wonder who made the decision to give it the same version as the PS3 and 360.
As for quality. i actually prefer the PS2 version. I used to envy PS360 owners, but after playing the PS3 version myself, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe it's nostalgia, but the PS2 version somehow feels far more finished to me. The 7th gen version controls well and has ideas I like(Wall-E with EVE's gun is an hilarious idea), but something about the visuals and sound design feels uncanny to me. Just watch the story scenes in the 7th gen version, they look so unfinished. And I fatigue way faster than when I play the PS2 version. Or maybe I just feel disappointed after lusting after the 7th gen version for so long just to discover it's pretty mediocre. It had some cool scenarios though, I love how on PS3 and 360, you actually fight a Wall-A, the giant versions of Wall-E, but you fight it on earth during the sandstorm escape. And I will never forget how you have a sort of mini boss fight with GO-4, the little red robot, where you see GO-4 on some monitors spinning around and waving it's antennas to try and look threatening while you hear music that can only be described as burping robots.

I grew up with the PC version, which is a port of the PS2 version. The game is even available on Steam, which is really cool.
Unfortunatly, the PC port of the game does have some problems, especially on Steam.
There is no key binding within the game itself - in fact, all PC settings, such as screen resolution, or key binding, are in a seperate settings program, not inside the game itself.
This was fine with the disk, which launched the game's "Autorun" program, and had easy access to settings. You may remember how the old CD-Rom games had a little opening launcher, from which you have to press "Play" to start the game, and that's where you could also Press the "Settings" button. However, Steam just launches the game itself. So you'd have to dig around the files to find the actual settings program.
On top of that, while there is an in-game menu where you can review your control settings, and it would tell you your settings, like "Jump - Spacebar", these specific buttons you set don't appear in the tutorial menus, where it just says "Press the Jump button to Jump". And that can be really confusing.
Furthermore, I remember getting stuck in the tutorial level, because that damn slot machine said "Press the Jump Button to stop the wheel", when in reality, it is the "Menu Confirm" button that they want. In fact,f from what I remember, I had to make sure that I set the "Jump" and "Menu Confirm" to the same key, otherwise things won't work.
So yeah, there unfortunatly are problems with the PC port.
However, I will say - the game looks incredible. Outside of the pre-rendered story cutscenes (which definitively show their age), during the actual yameplay, the game looks really beautiful, with the high screen resolution and everything.
It's unfortunate that the PC / Steam port has these problems with Settings. Because otherwise, I think that's the version I'd recommend everyone.

    Hey, small info drop.
The Wii version is actually a sliced uo version of the PS3/360 version.
Thelevels are called chapters and the levels themselves are cut up into multuiple sections on the wii, plus they cut multiple areas on the wii version due to lack of memory. Good intentions is nearly a fraction of its origonal self and welcome to earth is missing the final area with a giant tumbler.
On the PS3/360 version after completing the game you unlock a secret stage.
The music actually changes as you go along (meaning it's interactive music)
And the levels are treated more like open areas.
Now the PS3/360/Wii versions may have better models and bigger assets. But the artistic style and shading on the PS2/PC/PSP version just gives it that extra polish it needed.
PS2 game feels like a solid complete game that had a lot of development and thought put into it.
PS3 felt like a rushed and buggy mess. (that and the wii has some minor diference in physics. You can feel it right away the PS3/360 cells more floaty than the Wii lol)
I grew up with the PSP version, so getting the Wii version felt like a sequel to the game. Then after learning about the PS3 version and the extra levels and areas it had, I had to check it out, so it felt like a DLC. It felt fun.
Wii has some game modes, but the PS3/360 version has a ton of extra Game modes its crazy how much was left out of the wii version.
If you look at the concept art on the wii and play the PS3 you will see why some areas looked so unfamiliar there.
Hald of it is legit the missing 75% of Good intentions lol
I recoment picking up the PS3/360 version and making a second review as a part 2 to this vid ^^
It's fun and I enjoyed all games! I promise you will not regret getting the PS3/360 version.

Imagine that wall•e and Eve made these titles.
    Ps2 made by wall•e
    Ps3 made by Eve.
    Agree with my concept?

    • @bethmotgomery2662
      @bethmotgomery2662 4 місяці тому +2

I am referring to these versions to represent wall•e and Eve, personally wise.
      Ps2, built by wall•e's persona,
      Ps3, built by Eve's persona.
Since wall•e likes exploring on his own time and Eve prefers more action.
Now do you get my drift?

Ngl, i only played the heavy iron version demo version on the 360 and full wii version and seeing the game overs in the asobo version from a random video that just popped up on youtube for me and goddamn the game over animations just feel unsettling and dark for some reason, possibly because of the black background they are in, while in the heavy iron version they just happen and you respawn back at the check point or start. No dark background animations, just regular game overs and thats it

I grew up playing the Wii version, and after learning about the PC version of the game I bought it and played through it. Personally I prefer the PC over the Wii because there’s more things to do and it’s more faithful to the movie than the Wii is. Also the Wii had to cut parts of levels to fit into the game and it’s not like that for the Xbox and PS3. The graphics on the PC is actually pretty good (better than Wii) as well. My only complaints for the PC is the horrible pacing, and the lack of Eve levels…she only gets 3 throughout the whole game and I wish she got like at least a few more throughout the story but that being said, both games hold a special place in my heart but I’ve been having more fun in the PC version nice review 💅

Cool review of both versions, I had the asobo PC version twice and plan to play it again soon and i have the heavy iron Wii version but i plan to buy the PS3 version next year if i can find a good used one. I like both versions equally but the Wii version is hard to play with it's motion controls which is why i will buy the PS3 version someday. Still a cool review.

personally I like the ps2 version ,because it more faithful to the source material, and the ps3 and maybe the wii I don't like because in one level it looks like walle is using a thing that is like a ray gun, which I don't it's walle's type

cool video, always nice to see more videos covering the wall-e games
i personally grew up with the ps3 version whenever i was a kid, i still enjoy it all these years later but the wii version is complete dogwater. i tried out the pc version a few years ago and it was really solid for what it is, but i still prefer the ps3/x360 version. all are different beasts entirely and should be treated as separate, which for some reason it seems that you didnt do with ratatouille based off you calling the heavy iron version inferior in every way, but thats just my two cents lol
but ye me likey GOOD JOB
