Because the trailer says nothing about the actual game, it gives zero insight into what it's about. Now, with some games that would work, the element of mystery can really build the hype around a game, for example Cyberpunk 2077's trailer. But this, this is just boring and dull. Even the music playing in the background is dull. It doesn't get me excited at all about the game

You'll be using very strange and new guns never seen in a videogame, as well as the creatures that you'll encounter, mixed with puzzle gameplay most likely in a very new and never used setting for a videogame. What's there not to understand..
It's a slow trailer compared to everything else we're used to. It's a change of phase from all the modern shooters, and that's why I'm excited. Not saying that you have to be ass well, but disliking something just because you don't understand it, seems over dramatic to me.
Not everything has to be the way you're used to. There's no rules as to how the 1st trailer for a game should be, they obviously just want to set the tone for the first trailer. There's probably gonna be a gameplay trailer eventually, what's the rush?
It's safe to assume that you wouldn't enjoy a TOOL music video.

First name I thought of while watching the clip.
1:19 with the music, I've always pictured the guy waking up and recognizing that he's still in his nightmare. He disappointingly closes his eyes and buries his head into the wall which represents his mother's bosom to go back to sleep, hoping he will awaken from the nightmare that is his reality.
i feel that maybe these arnt aliens, this is a future where humanity used organic technology to build everything with, then some horrific genetic virus swept the world and just infected everything and everyone, fusing people into walls, mutating others into these abominations just turning the world into clumps of biomass turned inside and out

Actually, this is the kind of thing that might end up happening if vegans took over, as there is no plant life to be seen in this world. Vegans don't eat animals or any products of animals, and this place is like a visceral heap. Plus, as gross as it may sound, all of the structures may be alive, as they are all made of organic tissue.

When I got spiritual awakening I saw blood and murder in my minds eye when consuming meat.
This is one of the most disturbing trailers ever made for a videogame... like it or not the music and the trailer makes anyone feel abit unconfortable, like were watching something from a nightmare. I really can´t wait to see this game being released, i want to play this game for sure. This really have potential to be one of the best horror games ever made,

i don't think so, Giger used this type of scenery WITH a story that is worth something, but if this grotesque imagery is just there without any real story, its just gore&horror indie game (slender, dungeon nightmares etc...) that was made with higher production value.

I hate it whenever people make a hard decisions based on a small amount of information on a product. None of us have ever played this game. It could be an Alien rip off or they could of just been using the aesthetics based on Giger's work.
All of this could simply boil down to people not employing a bit of critical thinking to their decisions and just flying off with the first emotion/thought in their head.

This game looks like it's going to be terrifying, yet masterful. And even the trailer shakes me to my very core. This game looks interesting, and it tackles a theme that terrifies me. Mixing organic and inorganic material. Flesh and muscle mixed with metal and mechanics.

Zdzisław Beksiński inspired. Giger is darker, the creatures are not suffering or weak in any way, they thrive in their otherness and everything is covered in a insect like exoskeleton. This is more orange and red, muscles exposed, pain and a different mood of decrepit abandonment.

Has anyone ever noticed, how these disgusting images of deformed biological constructs represent the horrendous imagination of pure life?
Meaning that everything in this nightmare of a videogame is alive, the environment, the enemies, the protagonist and even the weapon itself resembles a living entity. The aesthetics of skinless monsters enabling us to see every blood vessel, every nerve, basically our body without the veil that we call skin, shows us the unpleasant truth of our profane meaningless existence as flesh and blood, which happens to cause the real disgust that we feel, when viewing these pictures. The only thing that makes our life bearable is knowing that it will end one day, forcing us to search for meaning for life.
From what I've seen in this trailer, I would say that this world that we'd be walking through in "Scorn" represents the dark fantasy of endless life, meaning definite meaninglessness. The horrors of being alive.
The word "Dasein", which I am afraid I cannot properly translate into english, though I know its meaning since german is my first language, means what I would call pure existence. Dasein is composed of two words "Da" and "sein" meaning "there" and "be" which is used as a noun in german. "Dasein" does not mean to be, but the state of being. An example: "Die Suche nach dem Sinn des Lebens, liegt letztendlich nichts als dem Schmerz unseres bedeutungslosen Daseins zugrunde." In english: "The search for the meaning of life is ultimately nothing but the consequnce of our meaningless existence (=Dasein)."
So the horror of this game comes from the thought of never ending life, which is being perverted in the image of the ugly creature that we encounter at 2:22 that looks as if it were impossible to survive. Its mere existence is a perversion of life, which in the end means immortality. Or obscene immortality -undeadness.
The game tries to tackle our fear of pure life, being reduced to its biological functionality, losing all former meaning. Everything exists for the sake of existing, which is nothing bad at first glance, since in our world too everything exists simply because... simply because it does. There is no deeper meaning behind it, but that doesn't mean that everything is alive in a biological sense. In a philosophical way, we could argue that everything is alive due to the laws of physics that causes everything to react and act in a certain way, which makes me come back to the word "Dasein", because it more precisely means "living existence" rather than "existence". Everything (starting to hate this word) you've seen in the video exists because it lives, not the other way round.
Now I have two theories what makes the thought of pure life so terryfying. Imagine that all living entities possess consciousness and thus struggle with its meaninglessness, the same way that we humans do. Imagine every particle in this world to not be able to comprehend its "Dasein", but still being forced to continue living.
My other theory states that, since everything is alive, everything acquires meaning. What makes us feel uncomfortable would be the thought to be the only one to not understand or not being to able to handle it.
Basically my two theories would suggest that the game represents the two great fears of our existence. The first one meaning there is no meaning in our "Dasein". The second one meaning that there is meaning, but we will never understand it.
I am personally more afraid of a world with meaning, that either I cannot understand or would not be able to cope with. The world of "Scorn" is such a world, where the world itself lives and everything in it serves its higher purpose. By the world itself being alive it might acquire meaning.
What do you think of my interpretation of the trailer? I have to admit that I haven't read anything about this game at all. I've only seen the trailer so far, it might turn out that I am completely wrong here. I would also like to apologise for any grammatical or semantic mistakes in my text, since english is not my first language.
Really thoughtful. there is definitely a focus on biological constructs. It also looks somewhat technological too so maybe that is played into the themes as well, as there is a comparison to be had with wiring, tubing and biology. The main character seems to be an invader and a lot of those creatures are dormant it looks like. I feel like your idea of showcasing pure life is a brilliant metaphor and the unknowable meaning could be somehow related to technology. I could ramble on and on about that but I'd rather not since this is such an old comment but I was thinking along the same lines so yea

Scorn is a game that is played from a first person and that combines shooting and puzzle solving, where the environment itself and the creatures that you encounter on your way affect your progress. But that does not mean that every resident of this nightmare world want to hurt - most did not care what was going to happen to you.
The entire story takes place in the game itself, there are inserted cinematic scenes that would distract you from the living world in which you are located. But note, the game will not show favor, if you miss an essential element. Everything has a reason and a purpose, you only understand them.

Also, I think there is no new trailer, there is just one very old kickstarter trailer and then this one here from june 2016. The content leeches "GameNewsOfficial" just slapped a "(2017)" in the title to lure people into watch it again.
And don't give me this BS that they just want to inform everyone (in the title) that the game itself might come out in 2017. In short, many dislikes could be for this channel and their "2017" in the title.

Something about the music and grotesque visuals shakes me violently in a most profound way, like watching the inside of soul scorned by the it's time running trial after trial. I can't describe it, but it mesmerizes my thoughts and pulls me in through the flesh stained vacuum tube it provides. If I had to compare it to anything, I feel like a man descending into the heart of darkness.

Why so many dislikes? I'm so hyped for this game and quite depressed I missed the kickstarter demo.
Probably since this trailer is from 2016 and its 2021 and no game yet.

Daniel Carelli I didn't say they were. I said I hope it's not just a bunch of puzzles. This should allow you to assume I do not particularly like games primarily made up of puzzles.
Then play the many many many games that do not contain puzzles. What sense does it make to hope future games also do not include them? I'd say the vast majority of games produced today have no puzzle elements at all, so what is so problematic if this one does?

Not for people who don't like puzzles. I wasn't trying to insult people for not liking puzzles, I was making a point about complaining about a game based on the mechanics it has simply for not liking them.
It would be like me buying Gears of War and complaining that it had too much first-person-shooter nonsense in it. It would be like going to a comedy movie, and complaining that the jokes took away too much from the plot. It would be like going to a metal show and complaining about it being too loud.
Reasonable expectations shouldn't be such an unreasonable expectation.

I've had sleep paralysis for 11 years and Everytime I'm about to have an episode my dreams turn into a world similar to this except everything is black, I'm truly terrified at how similar this is!

I have sleep paralysis too and you get very similar visuals sometimes yes. Even as a kid I saw this. Time moves really strange when your having an episode too, really trippy.
@S it becomes anoyying aftet a while. Like, when you just came home after a long hour of work trying to get some rest and your brain be like "nah"
Nightmare fuel. I had some bad acid in the 1990s that had me seeing visuals that looked like this. Was not fun. ( About 15 minutes later it was all fuzzy dinosaurs and rainbows, so swings and roundabouts, was worth it in the end, lol)
