His family has to give approval for anything that has Bruce Lee in it as they own the rights to his name and estate. Also you guys say that you know he never acted this way, tell me how many times did you meet the man and how well did you know him? A lot of people who actually knew him said he was very confident to the point of arrogance which seems like what this trailer is showing.
Switch72nd I think the critics are comparing the real Bruce Lee from a mix of his old interviews, his movies, and previous biopics. Judging by what critics say, they've pimped him up for the 21st century. lol
A curious boy once asked his father ''dad, why are there so many chuck norris jokes, but no bruce lee jokes?''. His dad laughed and said '' because bruce lee is not a joke''
in the real story the monk guy(was not a monk) thought there was going to be rules but Bruce went there and kicked his ass, some say it was unfair but in a street there is no rules.
"I think that a lot of people think he as arrogant. But he was just confident and self assured and (by the way) extremely knowledgeable and accomplished. He was also extremely caring - he liked to help people out as much as he could. I also think that people don't realize the depth of who he was as a writer, creator, thinker, and innovator. He was an amazing man. It's what I want people to understand......" Shannon Lee
No, he was very arrogant. Everybody who ever met him agrees on that, except the girl who wanted his dick. Bruce Lee was a cocky asshole. And he got away with it, because he put the work in and earned that. He wasn't bullshitting. When somebody like that starts talking crazy shit, you don't think, "Aw, bullshit, you're full of it." You're thinking, "Oh shit, this motherfucker might be about to snap off the chain and I can't stop him, holy shit. This is about to go all the way wrong."

William Weaver Oh so you admit you have no proof then why should all of the people believe what you say then? You pretty much stated you have no proof but yet you call me an idiot..BTW I saw your edited comment so no need to hide it Also you stated that Kindle's quote has no proof even though it was from bruce lee's own daugher who knew him, and you back that up by saying we should get a dictionary..My god the idea of backing up your statements make little sense Anyway, If it is in his book, show a quotation from it since I'm positive you read that book with your heart and are willing to back your statements with it...What documentaries again show some proof.. People that met bruce lee? While I do not deny that a lot of people did meet bruce lee and document his info from him, but the issue here is that, these kind of statements will always be taken with a grain of salt since anyone could claim such a thing especially on the internet. Again I'm trying to prove myself wrong here and be educated by someone who is willing not to pull crap out of thin air, but I guess you aren't taking that chance
Bruce Lee as a philosopher first before a martial artist... he isn't a douche bag, or a showy guy. And also, Bruce Lee hates big movements because it makes you slower. His Jeet Kune Do is minimal movement with maximum effect... not this flowery BS this film is showing.
quiltedquickerpicker actually I'm a Bruce lee fan, but Bruce was strong and good but not as good til he hit 30, he had flaws, I didn't know that til I read about it.
Thomas Patton that's funny but Bruce's legacy & bloodline didn't die with Brandon. His brother & wife Linda is still alive & his daughter Sharon runs his estate. His image & likeness can't be used without their permission. He also has two grandsons.
Thomas Patton Fair enough, I just don't like the look of this film. Dragon was a decent film, that was his life and soul in that film. We don't need anymore. Sadly
That was a great film, quite stirring, and very much in the spirit of what Bruce meant to us all. But, but, but no one watches that film anymore. Certainly not today's younger generations. So, any new film will be like a necessary history lesson at worst and a great film at best.
I call bullshit on this film. If you've read his book, and watched his interviews, you know his art was anything but "Kicking Ass". Looks like someone just wants to make a buck off his name. I'm not going to watch it. It's a disgrace to the Legend.
Somewhere along the line im sure the movie will undergo a humbling moment. If you practice the arts as i do we can honestly admit bruce was quite a cocky person, he was pulled by his ego quiet a bit.
Actually, if you pay a lof of attention to Bruce Lee, there were two sides to him: the wise philosopher, and the cocky-as-hell bad-ass who knew that he was a bad-ass. Both of these versions of Bruce Lee co-existed to make him who he was.
Cloaked One Thats why i said "If you practice the arts" because if you do "wisdom" is what you gain naturally in the process, now how you go about it after you realize internal training just made you a weapon? Thats ultimately up to you. Some become very egotistical, i have a friend who is highly skilled in the art of the 8 triagrams but he's a piece of shit person. Go figure.
Bruce Lee wasn't about "teaching how to kick ass", he was a highly philosophical and spiritual man. This just seems to make him look like some street punk teaching aggression, not self defence. What the fuck is this?
He was wildly arrogant before meeting Yip Kai-man. After that he learned what taught him to become the martial arts figure the world knows only through movies.
In fact he was fighting against other TRIADS at the time that his father send him away to USA. Just like nowadays when kids in HK got send abroad to seek enlightment. SO he is definitely arrogant!! But his skills are worth the arrogance he displayed!!!
I love the way "Bruce" floated in that 3-4 meter jump down towards the monk. Very realistic. Made me want to see the film and enjoy a true to life biography of actual events.
Master Wong jumps first leaving Sifu lee up top testing him ( As he explains he only wants to teach Sifu lee) Sifu lee jumps down after his leading to 3:00 where Master Wong says “ Now you are beginning to exceed your limits”. Great movie
When he was a kid/teen yes. After he moved to the states and grew up, by the time he was training people regularly he was over that phase. He rarely got into fights in his adult life.
HE was born there but he didn't grow up there. His parents moved back to Hong Kong when he was a baby, where he lived until he was 18, he then moved to San Francisco. That is "what the fuck" I mean lol. For someone that seems to get so defensive over Bruce Lee you sure don't seem to know much about him if you didn't even know that.
Well, there really isnt much to show in a fighting movies so u could predict everything that is going to happen in that movie with even a 1 minute trailer xD
Shannon Lee, the daughter of Bruce Lee, distanced herself from the film, saying that the film, like others about her father, "lack a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling." She went on to claim that one has to "generate your own material" to avoid misrepresentation.
Yeah, that's my point. Adding a third perspective because you can't have the two leads be people of color. "Too Ethnic." Major studios constantly do this, they can never tell the story of people of color through their own eyes. They are never allowed to tell their own story. Maybe the studios are right to have such low opinions of the majority mainstream audience that they can't relate to a character outside their culture. They have to add a white face to basically play "the viewer".
Aamer Kastoff Wow, so many words on the basis that you assumed I'm white. Damn it, those movie studios are right and you're their target audience. "The Last Samurai" was your fault.
Yo Yo The Last Samurai was about a white man who had to adjust to a new culture because he was taken in as their prisoner. It could have been about any other non-Asian culture and it would have made just as much sense. Brad Pitt got the part because he's famous and people like him. Again, chill the fuck out. You assume a lot about a culture you seem to understand very little about. The equivalent of this is China making a film about boxing and they want a Chinese lead. America is still predominantly white, and Western Culture is still predominantly white. If you have a problem with that, *feel free to move to any other non-western country that provides you the same convenience and freedom to complain about something as **_stupid_** as what you are complaining about right now,* while not getting punished for it. SJW's only exist in the Western World because our laws provide them the freedom to spout their dumb-ass rhetoric all day long with no repercussions.
normally i'm totally on board with booing out this whitewashing thing. like when they make a movie about another ethnicity and cast them with white people. but in this case, it actually kinda makes sense, as it has been said, that the fight occured because the chinese community of san francisco didn't want bruce lee to teach kung fu to non chinese. check out bruce lees wikipedia page. it's written down there.
All the people saying that Bruce Lee never acted this way in the past actually don't know who Bruce Lee was. This is exactly how Bruce acted in the past. After this fight he had with Wing Jack Man, he changed his way of fighting and thinking. Hence the title "Birth of the Dragon." This movie is not tarnishing his legacy. It is helping people remember how a legend was born.
Exactly. Bruce Lee changed his way of fighting after having the fight. I'm just curious why people hated this movie so much, I haven't seen it, but it wouldn't be that bad.
@@AERNIGH People just thought Bruce Lee was this wise, enlightened master his entire life. Yes, he was cocky and tempered at times. I did think they overdid it a bit though. My opinion.
@@steevyunboxing They had to redo the movie because of the backlash. In the original trailer, he was shown as super cocky and arrogant (lines like "this is not karate ladies" and lot more). The new one, not that much and they swayed the story. I personally wouldn't mind the first but I can understand that some might consider him as God or Legend.
Bruce Lee (as a lot of people who knew him personally said) was the most humble person they ever met. This trailer, and a movie, I suppose, is disrespectful to a memories of a legend.
they do have a show with that guy as the main lead playing bruce lee and it's about bruce when he was younger and what not. the show's in chinese doe but there is subtitles.
i7fan if they can do everything with special effects, why they won't do the cartoon? It is still a movie and it's better to do as many natural things as possible.
Actually Marvel did make their own Bruce Lee character, he's called Shang Chi. But even there he's not a cocky arrogant fool but an introspective soul trying to find inner peace and harmony according to the Tao.
Bruce Lee’s wife actually came out with a video about this story and this movie is a very exaggerated version of it and nothing like this every happened, it wasn’t like a insane fight, there was a fight but it lasted in the matter of seconds obviously with Bruce winning, also Bruce Never talked shit or said anything about other fight styles, all he ever said was he likes to mixed them together and make up his own Style, this movie is just stupid and nowhere near close on what actually happened
Lol, he talked shit about all martial arts not his own WTF are you even talking about. It's in his interviews, in his writings, in everything. He talked shit about various kung fu, about Karate, and eventually about Wing Chun too. You know nothing. And there's no proof that he won, other than what his lying wife said. She has 0 believability.
I think we all known by now Hollywood likes to white wash everything, if they could get away with it Bruce Lee would be played by a white guy with a hipster beard:(
The portrayal of Bruce Lee is poorly done. There is a difference between confidence and being jerk cocky. They made him appear like a cocky jerk, which is inaccurate.
***** really? lol that would've explained it... update-its George Nolfi, the writer of the bourne ultimatum, director of the adjustment bureau. I've never seen either
I'm Asian.. and I think this movie doesn't do Bruce Lee any justice.. why not just remake the game of death.. whos this extra dude? its like me taking Lord of the rings.. Frodo + Sam + Jeff?? lol .. rofl.. who is jeff?
Bao Warrior - I was def hoping for something other than this seeing as we are in the age of the bio-pic. Dragon: Bruce Lee story stands alone as far as that goes still. Such a great life that could be shown and they waste money and time to make something like this nonsense.
I dont know why they keep doing this like asian action stars can't hold their own.. Like a lot of people watched star wars and Triple X cause of Donnie Yen. If it was up to me.. I say just make a triple x movie with Donnie Yen and Tony Ja. that would have been so epic.. its like i was watching a 10 min movie... Like whats the point of an action movie if the action is CG.. lol..
He was very confident. Some would interpret that as cocky or arrogant. I can't say whether he was disrespectful or not as I never met him. It's possible though. I've been a huge Bruce Lee fan all my life but it's funny how some people hold him up in such high regard as if he were a saint and never committed any wrong against another human. We all have flaws.
LOL how old are you? Bruce Lee was a bit of a twat and everyone knew it at the time, He was hard to work with alot of people have stated, But that comes with greatness so we let him off...
cleancut05 Pretty much yeah. But people apparently have something built up in their heads about what kind of person he was---without having known him personally and then make an assumption about how he is represented in this movie just from a couple of clips from the trailer. Watch the movie first, then form your opinion about how he was portrayed, and THEN do a little research about what kind of person he really was and decide if the movie did him justice or not. The amount of comments on here about how they are portraying BL in this flick is pretty laughable.
If you can get past the looks of Bruce Lee and the inaccuracies and see it as just a movie for entertainment purposes, it looks like a fun movie to watch. But if you watch it like a documentary lol.... You'll be disappointed
No... no no NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NO GOD PLEASE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO We need a real Bruce Lee movie! Wtf is this bullshit? It's a disgrace to his name!
its all good dude its just a movie enjoy it.... im a massive Bruce lee fan. im great full i get to see something like this. we all know what Bruce achieved. calm down lol
the American learned about shrooms and acid, the a random Sholan master goes America, to a fight and show Bruce Lee that he is in the matrix oh and the Sholan master speaks perfect English....😑
Well...the only advice I can give is not to watch American made martial arts films. I lost interest in this one as soon as I saw it billed as "From the Martial Arts Team Behind X-Men". The US takes actors and gives them a crash course in martial arts. Asia takes martial artists and gives them a crash course in acting. If you actually want to see good martial arts, the US isn't the best place to look. We may have a few standouts, but you're better off going to the source.
As an Asian American, I'm actually fine with this. They are not replacing any "Asian" characters to be played by a white person, they are simply telling a story in a different perspective. Sure, it wouldve been interesting to just have a movie tributed entirely for Bruce Lee and told from his perspective, but I feel like this movie is offering a fresh perspective that I have not even thought about before.
yeah but they took a movie about THE most iconic asian american and turned him into a secondary character... (I'm also an asian american, but i somewhat idolize Bruce Lee so maybe thats the difference)
@@youareacoward8459 This movie isn't based on facts....Bruce Lee defeated Wong jack man decisively within 3 minutes as per actual witnesses that were there
Why df are they portraying Him this way? This is disrespectful to him legacy! How can you make a movie making him look the total opposite of what he stood for! No matter, Hollywood will make a better version after this movie releases so I'm not trippin.
***** He stood for the art of Jeet Kun Do, and spent his life dedicated to teaching and exploring his art. He wasn't cocky and thuggish like this crap int he trailer.
HighBridRed he was cocky as hell. took a lot of cokain. And before he died he said that he was wrong about jeet kun do and trying to bring his style to others. Jeet kun do doesnt work without the lessons of an ip man. Do you homework bro.
"And then one day I wandered into Chinatown..." with the next scene of him being discovered hungover in front of a studio door by Bruce Lee... One problem. Bruce Lee's studio was in Oakland. What a piece of crap. I can't wait for Shannon Lee's coming movie about her father.
So you're telling me a white guy got piss drunk and high, walked 2 miles through Oakland and ended up on Bruce Lee's studio door without getting touched. LOL That would be Hollywood magic. Awesome.
Solomon Li You mean the city that's literally 10 miles away from Oakland? This movie looks like garbage, but you people find the dumbest shit to post about. Focus on the awful acting and cringey dialogue.
I know. Directors need to let it go and create their own work. Have you seen all the new movies coming out this year they are all remakes or sequels it's ridiculous
yes i know that i guess at the age of 29 .... my setnence gives the impression of being that bruce lee died on set ... but if u c the context .... if brucee lee was to watch the making ..... he would die on set ..... since he was supposed to be on set watching the making and offcourse he has already died once so i used again ... you dig ?
faliq khudadost yeah I dig what your saying however bruce died at his side chicks house from an adverse reaction from a asprin/pain killer with a form of weed he used to like to chew, instead of smoke. Can you dig that ?😉
God the internet is so stupid. All I said was that this is nothing like him. Which it's not. All you have to do is look at one interview with the guy to know that his entire philosophy was about control, flow and the balance of ego. If you feel like a film is inherently fictional just because it's dealing with a real icon or story, that's your thing. I just think it's kind of misguided.
Ksean Richardson lol. I'm not trying to be an asshole, just trying to be a troll and see if I can get a reaction. Looks like it worked haha. Pls don't get so offended lol. But in all seriousness though, this movie actually looks like shit. Typical money-grab trying to make a dead legend who can't defend himself look all "badass", and also somehow make the movie about some white guy as the main character. I'm guessing this movie is VERY loosely *based* on *true events*. Anyway whatever
David Greenson I mean, didn't Bruce Lee teach his style of kung-fu to students in America? Perhaps the story is from the perspective of that white dude (possible student?) I mean, idk
Mast3rofFlavor actually i read alot about this part of Bruce's life, it was wong that called him out and didn't want bruce to teach non-chinese kung fu. So bruce told him they can settle it in a fight, if wong wins bruce will stop teaching. The fight lasted about 2 min and bruce was only hit twice before wong begging to give up
Yeah. Based on Meo S. I did several research on Bruce Lee a while ago. If you want to know if the story is correct, then, no. The only thing correct is they fought, and the names. First, Wong Jack Man, a San Francisco Chinese martial artists, challenged Bruce Lee to a fight, if claimed victory, Bruce would have to stop teaching marital arts to non-chinese and caucasians. The fight only lasted for 3 minuets, stated by a documentary. Wong Jack Man did not "TEACH" bruce lee about "self discipline" and "limitation" Bruce Lee was dissapointed with the fight, thinking that he could have betten him faster, but back then he was only using Wing Chun, and sees many flaws with his fighting style that only "LIMITS" him to one way of fighting, and realizes, "Using no way as a way; having no limitation as limitation."- Bruce Lee.
@@ryanb55 nope didn't happen I heard someone read from the book and jean labelled was a judo beast but was a close friend of bruce lee. He carried him on his back and bruce lee told him to put him down but he didn't, so bruce lee saw how helpless he was but he didn't beat him. Know ur shit dude
No one knows. Only what the stuntmen witnessed. Gene LeBell and Bruce were friends. Never said anything about it. But LeBell is the reason Bruce expanded into other martial arts. Taking up judo, boxing, fencing and an intense study of footwork.
lampshade3123 Yeah, see, I don't mind the "warts and all" making him cocky and sassy. It's the fight scenes I don't care for. One of the things Lee was big on was getting rid of all that wirework and unrealistic stuff.
Wong Jack Man wasn't a Shaolin monk from China! WTF? He's not this kind of guy. He's just another kung fu teacher in SF who accepted Lee's open challenge. Lee and his wife says he beat Wong in 3 minutes. Wong says otherwise.
Of course lee is gonna say he beat him and the wife is gonna stick by her dude. But the other witness to the fight said it was like 20 min long...not to mention jack man told lee after lee n his wife went running his mouth that if Lee didnt think his version of events were acceptable then he would do a public invitation to fight, which lee never responded to. Makes me wonder what really happened?
I would believe him if the Lee in this movie sounded or acted at all Like Lee. He won NUMEROUS pub;ic matches and had the backing and credibility of hundreds of martial artist. You know who hated him? Other Kung Fu masters. So this Jack guy has zero credibility when his version is supported by other Kung Fu masters. This is nothing but an attempt to disparage Lee's life's work, to bring the beauty of Kung Fu, of China to the world.
I really don't get why they do this with trailers. I swear, once some of these trailers begin my interest is piqued at the start of it, fulfilled by the middle and has dissipated by the end.
+KJER Mariano most trailers follow a normal trailer structure & that's what audiences expect when they click. so what r u saying, we should miss out on the good trailers too? also, come on, the trailer's title has 'Bruce Lee' in it. what moron wouldn't wanna click that?
I'm sorry but to me Jason Scott Lee already did this role. He did an excellent job too. I mean he became Bruce to me which is hard to pull off without looking like an imitation. He even had the man's swag down. No offense to this guy but he doesn't even have Bruce's stances down from the looks of it.
Have to agree with you. JSL did an excellent job of doing his interpretation of Bruce while not looking anything like Bruce Lee. THIS guy just looked like some actor "called Bruce Lee" trying to sound like JSL. Hate the haircut. :) Doesn't look like any of the hairstyles Bruce had. But like I said...I'll still watch the movie. Being a HUGE Bruce Lee fan.
only martial artists that have right play bruce is jet li maybe donnie yen or perhaps tony jaa but not this assholke who ruined green hornet and red 2 lol and terminator genysis this guy is fuckin horrible
Smokey Bandit the real event is there was a guy named Bruce lee who moved to America and taught Kung fu the rest is complete bullshit cuz he was humble and a lot faster then that lol
This did happen. The contest that Lee won, and the the monk challenging him to a fight. Lee wins, but the fight itself is supper controversial as to how it went down.
I can promise you that the fight looked nothing like it does in this trailer- what with the monk running up the wall and then cartwheeling over Lee's head. This "based on a true-story fight scene" is so obviously inspired by the "Matrix" fight scene between Neo and Morpheus, that I wouldn't be surprised if Yuen Woo-Ping choreographed it.
"The great mistake is to anticipate the outcome of the engagement; you ought not to be thinking of whether it ends in victory or in defeat. Let nature take its course, and the tools will strike at the right moment." - Bruce Lee
That's weird, I don't see Bruce Lee anywhere in this trailer.
Zombiesize Actually it's the opposite lol. Philip Ng is from HK and 100% Asian but Bruce Lee's mom was supposed to be 1/2 white.
because its a Bruce Lee inspired movie. I personally don't like it.
Yeah, his mother had Chinese and German ancestors. Cheers!
I totally agree! Couldn't have said it better myself. Good to know there are people out there who saw right through this horrible trailer. I really hope it doesn't come out in France.

And don't forget: "From the martial arts team behind fucking X-Men" Jesus Christ!
Nice photo. :-)
what are you fuckin gay?
yuck fou The real question should be, 'Was I talking to you?"
holy shit i thought that was a joke.......this movie is gonna be trash
It's better when you say it
Bruce Lee as a philosopher first before a martial artist... he isn't a douche bag, or a showy guy. And also, Bruce Lee hates big movements because it makes you slower. His Jeet Kune Do is minimal movement with maximum effect... not this flowery BS this film is showing.
quiltedquickerpicker Wait did he not say inspired by true events?
Or am i missin something here?
quiltedquickerpicker actually I'm a Bruce lee fan, but Bruce was strong and good but not as good til he hit 30, he had flaws, I didn't know that til I read about it.
quiltedquickerpicker this was before he invented jeet kune do
+Corneil Madison ..
quiltedquickerpicker ummm actually Bruce Lee was a very cocky guy and loved to showboat. He was also a bully as kid sooooo
That trailer was pretty long. Felt like I seen the whole movie In that one Trailer.
"hollywood now"
its like kong skull island .... you cannot find trailer less longer than 2 minutes ... wtf ? why they show whole movies
in fcking trailers ?
Saves you time from seeing crappy movies
nick ... nw trailer buzz ..... and he makes movie 1/5 of total lengh ...
i have when they make trailers like that it ruins watching the fk movie
Looked like a great film until I hit play.
I couldn't agree more
Sugar is sweet and so is honey. They said he's the greatest that ever lived and he's living now OH YEAH...ah wait hahahaha.
LOL
HELL YEAH!!! LMAO
This is an insult to the Bruce Lee legacy 😣
Who will sue? His son?
Thomas Patton Don't be a troll
Not trying to be, sorry man. Saw a comic opportunity, took it. Love Bruce Lee, Brandon died far too young, tragedies on both sides.
Sadly
This movie is a testament to how amazing Jason Scott Lee's portrayal was in "Dragon"
Benson Lee exactly!
Not to mention that it was way more accurate to actual events than This Bullshit!!
Truly
from the kung fu experts from x-men. really that is like going to mcdonalds for steak
lol as if the rest of the trailer didn't look questionable, I read that and said, damn they can't be using that as a bullet point, can they?
i disagree, wolverine does an excellent claw-fu
lmfao right..there are just certain things u dont touch...Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story was perfect from the 90's...leave it alone lol
That was a great film, quite stirring, and very much in the spirit of what Bruce meant to us all. But, but, but no one watches that film anymore. Certainly not today's younger generations. So, any new film will be like a necessary history lesson at worst and a great film at best.
LOL. That was hilarious.
It's 2016 and a white boi is still the main character in a movie about a Chinese.
It is like The Last Samurai all over again.
"The Last Nigga on Earth, starring Tom Hanks." - Paul Mooney
hahahahahah!
lmao
Thank the Jews that run Hollywood.
The great wall starring Matt Damon the american.
Bruce Lee must be feeling hurt after watching this trailor.
"Trailer" Motherfuckers

“Then one day I wandered into Chinatown, & I discovered Kung-Fu”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 WHAT?!?!
It wasn’t well known in the 60’s
Uh oh guys "from the martial arts team that brought you..."
X-men?
Fuck.
that was my reaction 😭😂😂😂😂
i know right? wtf were they thinking? there are so many talented choreographers in the world and they go with that shit?
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh when i was reading that i was like brought you WHAT ? what da hell is that supposed to mean :P
:P :P
I was fine with the trailer until they said that.
I call bullshit on this film. If you've read his book, and watched his interviews, you know his art was anything but "Kicking Ass". Looks like someone just wants to make a buck off his name. I'm not going to watch it. It's a disgrace to the Legend.
I read his book and I agree - word
Somewhere along the line im sure the movie will undergo a humbling moment. If you practice the arts as i do we can honestly admit bruce was quite a cocky person, he was pulled by his ego quiet a bit.
Actually, if you pay a lof of attention to Bruce Lee, there were two sides to him: the wise philosopher, and the cocky-as-hell bad-ass who knew that he was a bad-ass. Both of these versions of Bruce Lee co-existed to make him who he was.
Cloaked One spot on cloaked one! I've always undertood that and still have utmost respect.
No, he wasn't at first. He was an arrogant punk. But, like most men, you mature with age/experience.
Yes, its called a movie lol
Reality is boring, so they add a little flavor.
everyone's acting like they were Bruce lees best friend, this is what he was like before the legend
Great movie
So even a movie about Bruce Lee needs a white main character?
"Well said" (When does it stop?).
cry more
he isn't white. His name is Philip Ng Wan-lung. Also your comment is racist
racist comment
seriously, it's so fucking sad isn't it???
from what little i know bruce was never this arrogant or cocky?
He was. he us to always get into fights because of his cockiness!
When he was a kid/teen yes. After he moved to the states and grew up, by the time he was training people regularly he was over that phase. He rarely got into fights in his adult life.
What the fuck do you mean he "moved to the states?" He was born in San Francisco 11/27/1940.
HE was born there but he didn't grow up there. His parents moved back to Hong Kong when he was a baby, where he lived until he was 18, he then moved to San Francisco.
That is "what the fuck" I mean lol.
For someone that seems to get so defensive over Bruce Lee you sure don't seem to know much about him if you didn't even know that.
good job showing him that he should think before he speaks
Thanks for showing us the whole god damned movie in the trailer...
Well, there really isnt much to show in a fighting movies so u could predict everything that is going to happen in that movie with even a 1 minute trailer xD
Kalupz our new generations should get a Bruce Lee movie.
Exactly!!! XD random shit with bruce lee's name to juice money...
LOL 😂😂😂😂
😂
Shannon Lee, the daughter of Bruce Lee, distanced herself from the film, saying that the film, like others about her father, "lack a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling." She went on to claim that one has to "generate your own material" to avoid misrepresentation.
The white guy is completely unnecessary but this is a U.S. film, so of course, he's the lead.
They wanted it from a third perspective. Chill out dude.
Aamer Kastoff
Wow, so many words on the basis that you assumed I'm white.
I was excited when I seen the title but when I watched the trailer I can see it's just another money grab junk movie ... shame
I will prob still check it out ... but Im not gona pay for it that's for sure.
Definitely a showbox watch
Bruce Lee (as a lot of people who knew him personally said) was the most humble person they ever met. This trailer, and a movie, I suppose, is disrespectful to a memories of a legend.
the goalie from shaolin soccer looked like bruce lee LOL
That movie is jokesss lool xD, he does look more like him than the guy in this movie
true man, they should do bio of Bruce with the goalie
that will be awesome and true like dope
Maybe this guy is more skilled in kung fu. It's no less important than appearance
they do have a show with that guy as the main lead playing bruce lee and it's about bruce when he was younger and what not. the show's in chinese doe but there is subtitles.
i7fan if they can do everything with special effects, why they won't do the cartoon? It is still a movie and it's better to do as many natural things as possible.
from the team behind x-men, got me crying😭😭
lol bro you and me both pf all the martial arts film with fight choreography that otherworldly u choose xmen...FOH
Joshua Gonzales 😭😂😂 the legend deserves moree, fr😭
yeah i actually choked on my coffee
I didn't know what to say when I saw that... I thought it was gonna be a foreign movie
Ash White
HAHAHA exactly
next thing they gonna make him a Marvel Character
Khaya Mdlalose no then he would need to fight iron fist
Actually Marvel did make their own Bruce Lee character, he's called Shang Chi. But even there he's not a cocky arrogant fool but an introspective soul trying to find inner peace and harmony according to the Tao.
Darth Pai Mei noice,i see you know your marvel
that'd work
too late.
Yeah this doesn't look very good to me..
is this a bruce lee trailer or a lui kang vs monk fight set up
I think the coreography would've made Bruce Lee cry in sadness.
Brandon Dupuis I agree with you doesn't look good at all
I agree with u! Whatever hollywood touches, it turns into shit.
Brandon Dupuis at least watch the movie damn y'all complain to much
If this guy was Bruce Lee in real life, he would defeat people by making them cringe...
This guy looks mad chunky and not even close to Bruce Lee.
a poor selection they made of the person playing bruce im not going to see this movie
to be fair, I admire Bruce a lot but he was known to be cocky
and what is the problem then? Confidence!! but he had a heart.
KJ Tay I am not saying he was an arsehole, just that he was cocky
The white guy seems totally unnecessary.
please do research before you shout racism dumbass
lol
I think we all known by now Hollywood likes to white wash everything, if they could get away with it Bruce Lee would be played by a white guy with a hipster beard:(
Mr Muffinz Doesn't change a thing about what I said.
Cody Merritt When did I ever use the word racist or racism? I hope you're talking to ktehmok and not me.
Sorry, Jason Scott Lee has already done this....much better I might add.
Does not do Bruce Lee justice he deserves. It's hard to emulate someone in film who was so unique.
Well I've seen better impersonators on youtube than they actually choose in movies
True he doesn't sound like bruce lee
The portrayal of Bruce Lee is poorly done. There is a difference between confidence and being jerk cocky. They made him appear like a cocky jerk, which is inaccurate.
@@tonyjackson1828 maybe watch the movie? to the end?
@@tonyjackson1828 The portrayal was before he became 'Bruce-Lee'....it's the whole point and why he was cocky.
As a huge fan of Bruce, I hate this movie
Jason Chia fuck u
not realistic, making him like some sort of hero
I'm pissed off actually this is not Bruce lee this movie is bullshit
you misunderstood the point of the film thats all.... dunno how like, its literally called BIRTH of the dragon ffs
Jason Chia I do to first off who green lit this crap Shannon Lee should sue them on n behalf of his estate
I didn't hear one Bruce Lee "OUAHHH!" therefore this movie is void.
u cant make a bruce lee movie without bruce lee
that ending were bruce lee jump down from a high ledge crack me up!! BAHAHAHA!
No strings attached lol
that was cheesy af. basically ruined it for me
the director has said a cross between enter the dragon and the x-men
*****
really? lol that would've explained it...
update-its George Nolfi, the writer of the bourne ultimatum, director of the adjustment bureau. I've never seen either
Bruce Lee turned into an X-Man at the end there lol
I'm Asian.. and I think this movie doesn't do Bruce Lee any justice.. why not just remake the game of death.. whos this extra dude? its like me taking Lord of the rings..
Mynama jeff
Jeff, the God of Biscuits
I dont know why they keep doing this like asian action stars can't hold their own.. Like a lot of people watched star wars and Triple X cause of Donnie Yen. If it was up to me.. I say just make a triple x movie with Donnie Yen and Tony Ja. that would have been so epic.. its like i was watching a 10 min movie... Like whats the point of an action movie if the action is CG.. lol..
My name is Heff
Even by trailer standards, the films take itself so seriously its laughable
Chump 2
This movie can be called anything
But it can not be called a movie about Bruce Lee
I don't thing Bruce Lee was ever *that* argent, disrespectful, or cocky
that is true what you said
He was very confident.
Angel Chavez curs my illiteracy
Bruce Lee was never like that . All the guys that nkew him personnaly says that he was a humble guy ...
Yes he was very humble. BUT extremely confident.
CvDaTruth111
And not a douchebag like they are representing him ... Bruce Lee was a motivator and an inspiring character
touati youcef elhadi yes very tru. He was also very funny and quirky he knew he was a future legend.
Yeah and he is :)
Same thing I said: They should call this guy anything else and it would save this movie for me and alot of people.
If you can get past the looks of Bruce Lee and the inaccuracies and see it as just a movie for entertainment purposes, it looks like a fun movie to watch.
But if you watch it like a documentary lol.... You'll be disappointed
How is this is my recommended in 2019?
When you've grown up with Bruce Lee movies and documentary its going to be hard to watch this stuff in the new. But I'm open minded.
Holy shit, how old are you
I came to be when the first ray of light casted the earth since then the moon has passed the sky many a times for which I cry my howls at.
WulfCry Good enough for me
shit, you just whipper snapper
So true. And I dont think i will watch this movie
No... no no NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NO GOD PLEASE!
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Oh YESSSssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, it does look shit
Wtf you twat
agreed
vicecityrocks1
That guy is way too slow to be Bruce.
Yeah, the fight choreography is way too slow. It looks like some kind of Chinese wuxia. It's the only real qualm I have about this movie so far
well you can see that he has similar style by looking at his footwork and the fight seems dont look too zoomed in
wasnt the videos even slowed down of bruce? at least what ive heard. but still, to audition for the role of bruce has got to be nerve-racking
They probably hand picked him
Bruce Lee was never that cocky.
what that actual hell is this, Bruce Lee doing matrix moves are you kidding me, my eyes actually have tears in then kmt
You have to train for the street, not the Olympics, then do Movie fighting, lol
the American learned about shrooms and acid, the a random Sholan master goes America, to a fight and show Bruce Lee that he is in the matrix oh and the Sholan master speaks perfect English....😑
We may have a few standouts, but you're better off going to the source.
tony fernabdo
The story of Bruce lee starring White Man lol
well that white man is supposed to be Steve McKee who is friend of Bruce lee
I hate to say it but that doesn't justify making him the lead
Lmao you're brutally honest....
I met Bruce lee in person and he was nothing like this in fact he was very very wise and humorous
I think at some point, he was cocky and aggressive. He matured and was enlightened and he became the legend, Bruce Lee, the man we know 😊
In the internet you can be anything 😂😂😂
🥱 Did you fight Lee?
You did NOT meet the young version like he is portraited here.
@@youareacoward8459 This movie isn't based on facts....Bruce Lee defeated Wong jack man decisively within 3 minutes as per actual witnesses that were there

@@kingtownsend2536 it was all bullshit. The scene how bruce hurt his back was pathetic

tell me what you think what he stood for.
*****
He stood for the art of Jeet Kun Do, and spent his life dedicated to teaching and exploring his art.

This sounds so wrong, I'll research it for myself. If it's true then that means he wasn't that great.
HighBridRed he was a great athlete. A unbelievable fighter and cool actor. But he wasnt a good person haha. Have fun with the research.
Wow. I had never seen Bruce Lee could be that slow. Impressive!!
And he could float, apparently.
Solomon Li
One problem, Bruce Lee's studio was 2 miles from Oakland's Chinatown.
So you're telling me a white guy got piss drunk and high, walked 2 miles through Oakland and ended up on Bruce Lee's studio door without getting touched. LOL That would be Hollywood magic. Awesome.
Let's not forget that the guy also said he went to SF Chinatown... not Oakland.
Solomon Li
You mean the city that's literally 10 miles away from Oakland? This movie looks like garbage, but you people find the dumbest shit to post about. Focus on the awful acting and cringey dialogue.
What a ridiculous nitpick. Who cares?
I'm surprised they didn't use a white guy to play bruce lee....
Nathan C. They did
Nuya Buisness
No the actor playing Bruce Lee is 100% Chinese. That white guy in the trailer is just his student.
The FK is that suppose to mean ?

That's next
WHAT THE FUCK!! Bruce Lee would be rolling In his grave when this is out.
Yeah... but it still looks like a pretty cool movie.
Paul Davies I'm rolling in my bed right now
Paul Davies i tray to forget this triler 😭 .... !
realy fucken stupid....
There are about a hundred bruce-sploitation movies out there using his name and impersonators playing Lee.
I know. Directors need to let it go and create their own work.
Have you seen all the new movies coming out this year they are all remakes or sequels it's ridiculous
for crying out loud ..............don't release this movie ...... if bruce lee was to watch the making of this movie he died on the set again
faliq khudadost it was his son who died on the set
yes i know that i guess at the age of 29 .... my setnence gives the impression of being that bruce lee died on set ... but if u c the context .... if brucee lee was to watch the making ..... he would die on set ..... since he was supposed to be on set watching the making and offcourse he has already died once so i used again ... you dig ?
faliq khudadost yeah I dig what your saying however bruce died at his side chicks house from an adverse reaction from a asprin/pain killer with a form of weed he used to like to chew, instead of smoke. Can you dig that ?😉
faliq khudadost 😂😂😂
No.... You just made a mistake... " this movie he died on the set again".... You said "Again"....
This is not Bruce Lee. This is everything he wasn't.
Heath Gleason Ok we should trust you since your his best friend
you're
I know right because movies are so reliable with the truth.
Heath Gleason people watch skits and laugh, this is just a more professional skit, and just a movie
"From the martial arts teams behind the X-MEN"
Ahhhhh that explains everything
I dont think bruce lee ever said "this is not for the olympic games, this is for the street"
Sure. You met Bruce Lee during his lifetime?
I met your mother
so that makes two of us who met his mother then
Ksean Richardson lol.
I love Bruce Lee...
I don't like the way this looks.
They should have left Bruce Lees name out of this.
Heather Holt This is younger brice lee. Who has known to eant to fight everyone and very cocky
Mast3rofFlavor actually i read alot about this part of Bruce's life, it was wong that called him out and didn't want bruce to teach non-chinese kung fu. So bruce told him they can settle it in a fight, if wong wins bruce will stop teaching. The fight lasted about 2 min and bruce was only hit twice before wong begging to give up
Thanks for the info. If that is the case then this movie is pretty short lmao.
I look like bruce lee when i come, we should hook up!
Wong Jack Man did not "TEACH" bruce lee about "self discipline" and "limitation" Bruce Lee was dissapointed with the fight, thinking that he could have betten him faster, but back then he was only using Wing Chun, and sees many flaws with his fighting style that only "LIMITS" him to one way of fighting, and realizes,
"Using no way as a way; having no limitation as limitation."- Bruce Lee.
this is such a insult to Bruce lee's legend...and not once have i ever heard drugs, shroom and karate in one sentence -_-
Apparently, you've never seen a 90's movie then. lol.
marlin simon that's the way it was back then people getting high in that era as it's called the hippi era lol
you mean 80s
Ask Alice. nope that's the violence era of disrespect period
Karate? This is about Kung Fu. Perhaps you are the insult to Bruce Lee?
As usual fighting looks promising.
Best Bruce Biopic was Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story. They have lots of work to do.
Bruce Lee was known... as a respectable teacher, philosopher and a great person... not some asshole bully.
Seen his interviews? he was also a cocky showman.
@@MattSigmaX yes but a respectful one
He beat up his stuntmen on the set. Until Gene Lebell put him in his place.
"Martial Arts Team Behind X-Men" ....... Yea cause that movie was known for its exceptional martial arts >.>
not sure about this one, cringe factor is high.
the narration, the poor acting, the main character, the way bruce talks, i dunno, all feels off.
Not really cringe; it just feels not good.
lampshade3123
Yeah, see, I don't mind the "warts and all" making him cocky and sassy. It's the fight scenes I don't care for. One of the things Lee was big on was getting rid of all that wirework and unrealistic stuff.

I agree
IT TAKES SOME MORE THAN JUST A SIMILAR ׂFACE TO BECOME BRUCE LEE
The plus side to this film is that there is a chance that it will wake Bruce Lee up from the grave.
Wong Jack Man wasn't a Shaolin monk from China! WTF? He's not this kind of guy. He's just another kung fu teacher in SF who accepted Lee's open challenge. Lee and his wife says he beat Wong in 3 minutes. Wong says otherwise.
IKR WTF oh well it's a movie n I think Bruce Lee fought 2 other masters I don't remember their names
Yeah, but movies wouldn't be very long if they stuck to the facts. XD Every "true story" movie I've seen has been wildly inaccurate.
Jeff: The reason why all the other Kung Fu Masters hated him, is because he was teaching the art to Westerners.
THEY'VE SHOWED THE WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE AGAIN THROUGH A STUPID FUCKING TRAILER
I really don't get why they do this with trailers. I swear, once some of these trailers begin my interest is piqued at the start of it, fulfilled by the middle and has dissipated by the end.
exactly!!! IDIOTS !!!!!!
+Muhammad Suhail Khan Malik minal faizin my friend
yup - no point to see the movie now - just wait for the final fight to get posted on youtube. already saw the rest
+KJER Mariano most trailers follow a normal trailer structure & that's what audiences expect when they click. so what r u saying, we should miss out on the good trailers too? also, come on, the trailer's title has 'Bruce Lee' in it. what moron wouldn't wanna click that?
no one can be bruce lee but bruce lee
This will be one of those dvds you find in the $5 bargain bin at Walmart next to the Emerson flat screen tvs
Bruce Lee was never like that lol.
***** No, he wasn't.
***** He only acted cocky for show, but in real life he was very humble and an overall nice dude.
well bruce lee isn't alive to play himself anymore so we can't do anything about it
exactly... there'll never be another one to take his place, but people still want to relive his memory, so I'm gonna watch it
best joker it a movie
This kinda makes The legend that Bruce Lee was feel somwhat plastic.
Arthur Landon It was
then don't be gullable, lol. Bruce Lee wasn't this way
Before I see what people think, especially about who won and any hidden meanings, I just wanted to say.......brilliant trailer, brilliant film!!!
No thanks. I'll much rather watch Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story again :)
I'm sorry but to me Jason Scott Lee already did this role. He did an excellent job too. I mean he became Bruce to me which is hard to pull off without looking like an imitation. He even had the man's swag down. No offense to this guy but he doesn't even have Bruce's stances down from the looks of it.
dragon was the perfect bruce lee biopic. this is not needed whatsoever.
I completely agree. And I too will end up watching because I am a huge Bruce Lee fan also.
+Andre Taylor and this one does? I'm just saying it was a better movie than this. much better.
Jason Lee DID NOT do a good job portraying Bruce Lee.... he looked more like Jackie Chan will that acrobatic buster keaton crap....
No disrespect to the actors who jumped at the chance to be in a movie about a Legend, but.. This movie looks like an absolute Hollywood disgrace.
Hollywood doesn't work to serve your needs, they work to serve their own financial needs.
GameBoy _69 actually your wrong... They need to serve our needs since we are the ones watching it and giving them the review. Dumbass.
Actually you're wrong it's you're not your.
TrickStar Lol exactly.
only martial artists that have right play bruce is jet li maybe donnie yen or perhaps tony jaa but not this assholke who ruined green hornet and red 2 lol and terminator genysis this guy is fuckin horrible
This movie is HILARIOUS and this is from a Bruce fan 😂😂😂😂
"Inspired" by actual events. Bullshit! Inspired by money.
Smokey Bandit the real event is there was a guy named Bruce lee who moved to America and taught Kung fu the rest is complete bullshit cuz he was humble and a lot faster then that lol
Smokey Bandit
It actually is a legend that Bruce Lee and a monk fought. Dont think it was in America but its not BS
funniest comment of the month for me!
This "based on a true-story fight scene" is so obviously inspired by the "Matrix" fight scene between Neo and Morpheus, that I wouldn't be surprised if Yuen Woo-Ping choreographed it.
they should have used the afghan bruce lee guy he's legit,
or just made a cartoon, this is garbage.
like if u think they should just cancel.

Great, now I need to wait 10 years for a good remake
"The great mistake is to anticipate the outcome of the engagement; you ought not to be thinking of whether it ends in victory or in defeat. Let nature take its course, and the tools will strike at the right moment." - Bruce Lee
