The thing that always gets me about Josh is how effortlessly he plays this stuff, and often while singing a completely different melody over the top of it. And dancing. Dudes a god.
For me, its how they basically do nirvana thing or elliot smith, have a strong melody and find some way to follow it through messy but also aimed guitar
Josh Homme is an all time underrated guitar player. He's not flashy or technical but he thinks so far outside the box that it almost makes it a different instrument.
Saw QOTSA live last November. It's incredible how great they sound live, Spotify doesn't do their music justice! If you could make a full tutorial on Emotion Sickness it would make my day, there aren't any good tutorials for that song on the internet right now.
I got to see them in March this year. If you think spotify doesn't do them justice, get their LPs. Absolutely mindblowing when you're playing their music through a good hifi system.
I loved it man. I'm more a fan of the early stuff but that was a tasty sweep across all their albums. If you do another, don't sleep on How to Handle a Rope...such a badass riff.
Such a great songwriter. I love Josh Homme's quirckiness. I'm trying to decide which QOTSA song I want to learn next. I do tend to lean more towards his songs in C STandard.
Emotion sickness sounds very them crooked vultures. Also small mistake, I’m pretty sure josh is playing major chords not power chords for i think i lost my headache.
@@nikolagugoski yeah, but i learned it by watching the from the basement performance so im not sure if its like that on the album version since i haven’t listen editing to it in a while
Thanks for watching man! Appreciate the support. I had that song in my list but probably switched it with some other song last minute. I definitely missed a few good songs in the video. Maybe I'll do part 2 😁
Fantastic video, banger after banger! Josh Homme has provided us with, the best heavy rock riffage of the 21st century, maybe (I do love me some post-Layne genius Jerry Cantrell and the almighty Tool as well of course.)
I think Josh is my favourite guitar player. Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Hendrix, Satriani, all amazing, but there's just something about the way Josh plays that puts him above all of them for me.
Missing the outro to “Fortress” but an awesome compilation regardless. I see a lot of parallels between this and Radiohead for whatever reason. Never connected the two until now.
That Autopilot part was written by Nick Oliveri, years before Qotsa: Josh wrote the solo part and the drums. The Hangin Tree riff was written by Alain Johannes (Desert Session 7/8). The Milionaire riff was written by Mario Lalli (Desert Sessions 5). My God is the Sun sound like a Dean Fertita riff, I guess Josh didn't wrote it. Josh loves to collaborate with good musicians
I think it’s funny because some of these are not Josh’s guitar parts. Hanging Tree was Alain. I wanna say the part you play in I Appear Missing was written by Dean or Troy.
@@horstvazinksi3408 I never said or implied that. I’m saying it’s funny because Josh is the only guitarist people credit for their music. They call Troy, Mikey, and Dean yes men. So, my overall point is. It’s funny because they don’t realize only maybe 40-60% of the guitar parts since Like Clockwork were all written by the people that SFTD purists insist are only hired guns and don’t have creative input. But only Josh gets the credit. Josh has implied that he’s only written the instrumental parts for 2 songs on ITNR. At the very least most of that album was composed by other members. Josh has taken a back seat compositionally and has focused more as a lyricist.
Wicked Video definitely gonna try these out but could you please say what tuning these songs are in because ik they vary from standard to 2 whole steps down for example 🔥🔥🔥
The thing that always gets me about Josh is how effortlessly he plays this stuff, and often while singing a completely different melody over the top of it. And dancing. Dudes a god.
an inspiration for sure
For me, its how they basically do nirvana thing or elliot smith, have a strong melody and find some way to follow it through messy but also aimed guitar
Not all of the riffs here are played by Josh
Josh Homme is an all time underrated guitar player. He's not flashy or technical but he thinks so far outside the box that it almost makes it a different instrument.
Underrated? Really?
@@nelsonsilva2003 yes
Yo no he visto que sea subestimado. De hecho, tiene harto reconocimiento en el mundo de la música y el rock. No creo que lo subestimen como dices
how is he underrated? QOTSA is a mainstream band, millions of people listened to the No One Knows guitar riff, stop acting like he's some indie act
@@KUM0 if you would read my comment I said he was an underrated guitar player. If you want to argue that let’s go ahead
Stoner rock riffage in C standard is just such a perfect sound to my ears
that riff from Turnin On the Screw just does something to me
One of the most badass QOTSA riffs ever is Josh's solo in "God Is On The Radio"...that thing is wild. Would love to see this guy try that lol.
Love this band so much. Finally saw them live last year! Incredible show!
That's awesome!
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The band was so tight! Unforgettable
Seeing them live on April 14 in Quebec city for the first time :) can’t wait!!!!
sick sick sick such a sick riff
Took the exact words out of my mouth
Anytime I’m feeling overwhelmed in my life I like to sit outside with the crickets in the dark and play the mosquito song on an acoustic
Truly a great song to end with
Man I started playing guitar one year ago and can play most riffs of qotsa but one day I wanna be able to play mosquito song.
Love your inclusion of auto pilot. Such a hauntingly beautiful song. A full cover w tabs would be amazing

I'll definitely give it a try if there is more interest
Yes please! I second this one!

Thanks for including a variety of songs. Fun to play! Should make a part 2
I needed these tabs, heck yeah, and you nailed every tone, wonderful job there!
Killer set of riffs!!! Great choices here
Thanks Sean! Glad you liked this :)
QOTSA is my fav band of all time! Great video man!
Such a great songwriter. I love Josh Homme's quirckiness. I'm trying to decide which QOTSA song I want to learn next. I do tend to lean more towards his songs in C STandard.
I forgot how brutal some of their early stuffs are. I wish they had songs like "Regular John" and "Millionnaire" in their newer albums
Keep your eyes peeled missing. Absolutely amazing
I love QOTSA and that band was the band that made me want to start playing guitar.
So many unique and badass riffs. Homme is a god
Great song / riff selection. First time I saw someone playing "Hanging' Tree". Fantastic little riff! :) Keep up your great work!
Thank you! Glad you liked the video
i was waiting for the Smooth Sailing riff
Yeah, I definitely missed a few 😁

Best band of fucking history
What a beautiful tele

Wow this is extremely well done!!! Keep up the good work can’t wait to learn some of these.

damn you absolutely nailed all of these tones!!
Sick Sick Sick is so fun to watch
Woah! This is amazing!! Quality as always!
Awesome work!! Love working out to these sick Qotsa riffs

Josh is one of the most creative on the instrument of all time.
That telecaster is playing superbly! Congrats
Great selection! Such fantastic riffs!
Thank you! Glad you liked the video 🙂
Awesome video, I was waiting to see a video of someone playing emotion sickness clearly - thanks :)
Thank you! There is this channel called Let's play all and he did pretty in depth lesson for Emotion sickness. For both Josh and Troy's parts
Loved that, thank you.
Good list but feel like If Only should be here. All time riff
Very well played!! Good to play i appear missing but i think one of the best guitar riffs of all qotsa is the solo of fairweather friends.
Can you do head like a haunted house please? Favorite song from that album
Why did it take me till today to realize Josh Homme is so underrated. Awesome riffs.
If you're a TOOL fan, you may have already heard another Homme riff (Demon Cleaner by Kyuss). Kyuss was such a great band!!
Now for some Kyuss riffs 🙏
Great vid, much appreciated

Nice tone! what pedals are you using?
Creative genious.
I’m in love with the tone. What did u use?
Thank you! On the telecaster it's just a Guitar rig 5 preset. On the strat, beside Guitar rig 5 I use a pedal called Joyo American Sound
Hey, great job as always, a pleasure to listen to! What string gauge and brand do you use for this tuning?
Thanks for watching! I use 10-46 on the strat and 10-52 on the tele for C standard
Your black Tele is awesome

I LOVE the evil has landed - very Them Crooked Vultures

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🙌🏼🖤🤘🏼
What model type is the black fender?
It's a Blacktop Telecaster made in Mexico

my favorite riff of them has to be the opening riff on how to handle a rope
Josh homme is a God ⚡️
QOTSA best bands underraated ever
to this day, im still figuring out how josh homme came with all of that riffs
What about the missing tunings?
Senti falta de in my head
Can’t ever take QOTSA lists seriously that don’t have Monsters In The Parasol in them! Besides that - nice work!
How do you even narrow it down to just 20??
Josh is the downstroke GOD
No Paper Machete 😢
