In 1987, I moved to Largo, FL as a new physician at the local Non Profit Hospital. Randy was my next door neighbor! He was always the gentleman. When I asked him to come to our "Hospital Foundation Gala," he went out of his way to support the hospital foundation. He attended in full wrestling regalia and donated to the silent auction making our events a great success. Everyone loved him. Of course, he presented a larger-than-life and even scary persona. But he used this stardom in our little community to the benefit of all and never asked for anything in return. God bless him.

@@markl1733 I agree. Hogan is always into self-promotion, but he is from simple, humble beginnings. Randy Savage was truly a great, energetic, and athletic wrestler.
Randy was a great asset to wrestling and proud that I had a chance to witness all the greats back in the day. He was an athlete first and foremost and happy he was on the St. Louis Cardinals even if only in the minors!!!
This brought back many good memories of watching wrestling with my dad in the 80s and 90s, back when I thought wrestling was REAL! Fun fact: my elementary school art teacher was close to George the Animal Steel. Apparently, he loved art (seriously), and had several autographed photos of him in the classroom. Even had a framed picture of him and her on her desk.
I'd run into him from time-to-time at airports. He was next in line behind me at the Madison restaurant one evening, I visited with hime briefly, and we both talked about "Slim Jims" being a staple for a snack on long trans-oceanic flights for me and my crew. We sat at tables next to each other and talked between bites. I heard a little bit of muffled laughter from some of his compadres as we talked. I didn't think much if it. Later that evening as we left Denver for L.A., I reached into my flight kit for my flashlight and my hand felt a bunch of strange thin floppy objects. I looked directly into my kit and saw a dozen Slim Jim meat snacks. I shared the Jims with my f.o. and flight engineer, which left the cockpit a bit spicy smelling. Randy had snuck the Jims into my floppy leather flight case, the one that had been with me for 6 continents, and numerous ocean crossings. I still have the bag, and there might be a tinge of Slim Jim fragrance every now and then. "Snap into a Slim Jim" Randy. The next ones are on me. Vayo con dios.
Macho Man and Tommy Dreamer were the best wrestlers I've met. Since it was a Slim Jim event (I'm veg lol) I did the best female impression of him... Lol. It was embarrassing to do that in front of him and on a microphone. It was him and his bro - both amazing people. Ah well. RIP macho man. ❤ Snap into a slim jim. OH YEEEAAHH
if correct, he asked his mom for a gimmick. she said macho man. he asked "whats a macho man?" that voice, asking his mom, the macho ,, asking his mom.... would love to be a fly on the wall to hear that. gonna watch the steamboat match now. lol
I watched leaping Lanny and the macho Man fight in Amherst Nova Scotia about ..1978.. it was awesome! Lots of blood .. they both looked very high in the ring I noticed at the time when signing autographs ... But man .. what a match what a show !
Macho man ,Bret Hart and even Shawn Michaels physiques were underrated. I remember meeting Bret Hart in 1999 at the Molson Indy in Toronto and he was jacked AF.His traps were up to his neck.I am currently building a physique like Bret's
@@FallouFitness_NattyEdition He was buddy.Plus he was the nicest guy you could meet in the wwe and got out of his passenger cart just to sign my autograph and take a pic with me.
Yes, that was my one and only beef with this informative and interesting video. Only those who watched from the 90s onward would think of The Genius before Leaping Lanny Poffo...still LOVE his match vs Terry Funk in the Boston Garden (part of one of the "Best of the WWF" video series!)
I wish the video went into detail about how much he gave back quietly in his last years and that incident with the fan ....we weren’t there the fan could of called randy a PHONY or some shit to set him off maybe the other guys there didn’t hear that I doubt he would just lose it ok a fan asking for an autograph like that
The good ol days of Grand Prix wrestling. Leaping Lanny, The Cuban assassin, killer karl kroop, big Stephen petipas, Sky lo lo and many more. That takes me back
I've known a lot of people who knew or met Randy at various points in his life. If a fan got into a fight with Randy, that fan must have done something to deserve it. For a video titled "The truth about Randy Savage" it sure is very one-sided in the sources it cites. Guess that's the spirit of Grunge's sensationalism.
@Cousin It Judging by the sheer abrasiveness you're demonstrating here, I can see why someone would end up snapping at you. You made a great point though, you dated his cousin, and since she's a bit of a psychopath, that's irrefutable evidence Randy beat up that fan for no reason at all. Really, how old are you? 13?
@Cousin It 58? That's pretty embarrassing. It's about time you started acting your age. The cocaine thing is hearsay at best. Just about everyone who was close to Savage said he did not use cocaine. Considering how frugal he was, I find it hard to believe. The fact that he used steroids at points in his career isn't evidence of him treating fans poorly. That's just not how this works, chief.
Rest In Peace to a true legend! I still clearly remember being at ringside when he defended his world title against Ted DiBiase back in the Summer of 1988! I also remember Virgil trying to hold Macho Man still, hoping DiBiase could get a cheap shot, only to have Macho Man escape and duck in time, causing DiBiase to accidentally punch Virgil instead! After DiBiase was checking on and apologizing to Virgil, I also clearly remember feeling the vibes real well when DiBiase's shoulders hit the ring floor when Macho Man back suplexed him, then holding diBiase's houlders still for a three count, getting the pin and win! That was such an amazing night!
macho did a lot of good things too, we are all flawed. he definitely seemed to go through a bit of a mid life crisis but seems he found happiness at the end of his life.
Leaping Lanny Wrestled in my home circuit ( which is in eastern Canada.. eg Halifax ,Nova Scotia) in the late 70’s , early 80’s) and he was “ the man!! “ he used to do back flips in the ring and blew our minds.. the wrestling circuit then was called “ Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling” if you wish to google it... thanks
Why dont these videos related to past wrestling ever say the WWF. Its important for the preservation of wrestling history (if i can use that term) to get the names for that time period correct.
I think it has to do with the legal issues of World Wildlife Fund. The WWF had to rename themselves to the WWE because of breached agreements. So I guess avoiding it now is due to that court case.
@R. José De Fraga Exactly . The people making these videos could saw something like "known then as the WWF" when ever referring to the WWE of the past.
Apparently, Randy went off on Razor and Shawn after their ladder match at Wrestlemania X, claiming that they took too long and forced a ten man tag match to be scrapped due to time constraints.
I was kind of into wrestling in the late 1960s. Names I remember off the top of my head: Ray Stevens, Pat Patterson, Pepper Gomez, Haystack Calhoun, etc. There were matches broadcast every weekend from Oakland, CA.....hosted by Walt Harris. Roller Derby was pretty popular as well. One of my friends won the chance....( probably from some radio station ...).....to remove the cape from some wrestler's shoulders, as he stepped into the ring....when the whole party came to our town. He seemed so dejected afterwards.....saying that he hung around after the event.....and watched the good guys & the bad guys, all climbing into a big station wagon TOGETHER. He followed them to a little bar, and realized they were good friends, and weren't really enemies at all....LOL. I only recall ever attending one match. They were selling beer in glass bottles back then, and there were bottles & fists flying out there in the bleachers. As fake as it all is.....I think of those guys as buffed-up ballerinas. The skill level it must take, not only to master all of those moves night after night, but also NOT to really f#@k each other up so badly, that they really put each other out of commission. I know there were tragic exceptions, but very rare.
I believe this. He has talk about having a match with Hulk Hogan and donating the money to sick kids. I not sure if they ever had said match, but he seem genuine about it.
Randy Macho Man Savage was always my favorite wrestler of all time ! When I heard he died I felt a little choked up about it because I knew we would never see his likes again . I was lucky to have grown up in the hay day of wrestling circa 1980's !! Now a days it just isn't the same . RIP Macho Man , you were and always will be one of the all time greatest wrestlers to ever step into the squared circle
I knew Randy briefly in. 1981, we trained. At the same gym and I actually competed with him in a local bodybuilding contest. He was always polite and and kindness quiet during the time I was around him.
I met in 99 at a skate event. He was so nice to all us sweaty teens waiting to see him in the September Florida sun. He was the character we all grew up with and did not disappoint.
I got to meet Randy in the late 70s. He was scheduled to wrestle at my elementary school. He was sitting in his van at the time in front of the courthouse. Really cool guy.
No no. The "before a match" story was like 6 bottles of wine. He'd ver very rarely drank before matches. The most common Andre dirnking anecdote is 100 cans of beers and then a couple bottles of red wine with his dinner. Sometimes it would be more than exactly 100 cans. Sometimes 110 or 115.
I was SO MAD at Randy though for being Hogan's whooping boy against the NWO! Why did he agree to that knowing how much he hated Hogan?? That's one question I'd like to know the answer to.....
I guess this is the mandala effect working in full effect. It's the WWF. The WWE didn't come about until the early 2000's which is also when the WCW formed because there were quite a few of the big name wrestlers that were pissed about the name change and the new policies that came with it. As far as I'm concerned the glory days of wrestling died with the WWF, because it all got way too ridiculous, cheesy over acting and trying to build out of the ring drama that just wasn't even necessary.
RIP to Randy Savage, Umaga, Chyna, The Ultimate Warrior, Eddie Guerrero, Curt Hennig, Chris Candido, The Von Erichs, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, and all the other great wrestlers who unfortunately passed away when they were far too young.

Since it was a Slim Jim event (I'm veg lol) I did the best female impression of him... Lol. It was embarrassing to do that in front of him and on a microphone. It was him and his bro - both amazing people. Ah well. RIP macho man. ❤
Snap into a slim jim. OH YEEEAAHH
"SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM" Oooh YEAH
I really doubt the story about him slamming a fan because he would of said "OHH YEAAA" at the end of his statement.
One of my favorite wrestlers and one of the most charismatic ohhhh yeaaaahh 🤠💯
I don't think bodyslamming a fan is very charismatic
if correct, he asked his mom for a gimmick. she said macho man. he asked "whats a macho man?" that voice, asking his mom, the macho ,, asking his mom.... would love to be a fly on the wall to hear that. gonna watch the steamboat match now.
Wow, that's really impressive. He must have been in his early 40s at that time.
@@FallouFitness_NattyEdition He was buddy.Plus he was the nicest guy you could meet in the wwe and got out of his passenger cart just to sign my autograph and take a pic with me.
I miss the Macho Man.
@Chris Wallace It can be fun, so I hear....... hehehehehehehe!
He was my favorite for sure , RIP MACHO MAN!
The Macho Man Randy Savage is a real legend of wrestling
OOH YEAH!!
Actually, before he became The Genius, he was "Leaping" Lanny Poffo
Yes, that was my one and only beef with this informative and interesting video. Only those who watched from the 90s onward would think of The Genius before Leaping Lanny Poffo...still LOVE his match vs Terry Funk in the Boston Garden (part of one of the "Best of the WWF" video series!)
That moonsault though
Thank you
I wish the video went into detail about how much he gave back quietly in his last years and that incident with the fan ....we weren’t there the fan could of called randy a PHONY or some shit to set him off maybe the other guys there didn’t hear that I doubt he would just lose it ok a fan asking for an autograph like that
The good ol days of Grand Prix wrestling. Leaping Lanny, The Cuban assassin, killer karl kroop, big Stephen petipas, Sky lo lo and many more. That takes me back
He was brilliant. Loved him.
Cousin It And then you did a backflip and everybody clapped and the POTUS came and gave you a medal, right?
My favourite of all time the macho man randy savage RIP
Ohhhhhhh yeaahhhhhhhh
Ohhhhhh yeahhhhhhhh
Also known as "Leapin' Lanny Poffo".
William Cox he use to fling frisbees haha
I watched
Leaping Lanny Wrestled in my home circuit ( which is in eastern Canada.. eg Halifax ,Nova Scotia) in the late 70’s , early 80’s) and he was “ the man!! “ he used to do back flips in the ring and blew our minds.. the wrestling circuit then was called “ Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling” if you wish to google it... thanks
No , he wasn't, his brother was leaping lanny
Mr. Poffo was something else...the cream of the crop
So I guess avoiding it now is due to that court case.
kerfies, the World Wildlife Fund is not going to sue to an independent video/content creator over referring to WWE in its past name of the WWF.
@R. José De Fraga Exactly . The people making these videos could saw something like "known then as the WWF" when ever referring to the WWE of the past.
Apparently, Randy went off on Razor and Shawn after their ladder match at Wrestlemania X, claiming that they took too long and forced a ten man tag match to be scrapped due to time constraints.
holy crap i never knew that about savage
Macho man was the greatest to ever do it. Nobody will replicate what he did for sports entertainment.
My mothers crush and favorite wrestler!💪🏾😄
Sergio Morales my mom’s too!
My mom's was Steamboat! Couldn't stand Rick Rude! :)
Sergio Morales yeah I think he was hot too
He was the only professional wrestler I was captivated by! Wrestling Entertainment at its finest!!!
I knew randy savage I was a stage hand and he was a very nice guy. It's hard to believe that these stories are true.
I believe this. He has talk about having a match with Hulk Hogan and donating the money to sick kids. I not sure if they ever had said match, but he seem genuine about it.
When EVERYONE says the same thing... I'm thinking yeah.
By “untold”, you mean “told by many people, many times”?
"I gotcha for 3 minutes, 3 minutes of playtime!" 😂 Haha macho was the best
3 minutes of pain...
BONESAW IS READY!!!!
I met Randy "Macho Man" Savage at Detroit Metro Airport in the early 2000's.....He was super nice to my friends and I.....
What a legend he was, man
I knew Randy briefly in. 1981, we trained. At the same gym and I actually competed with him in a local bodybuilding contest. He was always polite and and kindness quiet during the time I was around him.
Never gets old watching stories about the Macho Man, i can watch this stuff all day long.
He was way ahead of his time
He was my all time favorite Wrestler as a kid.
Macho man verse Ricky the Dragon steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship were true classics.
Yup, back when that title still meant something.
I agree greatest WrestleMania match hands down
I met in 99 at a skate event. He was so nice to all us sweaty teens waiting to see him in the September Florida sun. He was the character we all grew up with and did not disappoint.
Was? Was? Unbelievable! I'm still here buddy. Macho Madness never dies! Ooooh Yeeah! Dig it!
I got to meet Randy in the late 70s. He was scheduled to wrestle at my elementary school. He was sitting in his van at the time in front of the courthouse. Really cool guy.
I'm glad Macho Man beat up that fan. He was a heel in 1986. I hope the punk's friends account of the event are 100% accurate.
😂😂😂😂
*Bite into a Slim Jim!* ✅😎
Its snap into a slim jim
I don't think Randy ever bit a slim jim
hows that for an autograph boy OHHHH YEAHHHHHH.😂🍻
Randy Savage RIP. Always liked hearing him talk the way he would. Great story of the one and only randy the Machoman Savage
Adultery was so rampant then and today(especially in that industry). I don’t blame Savage for being overly protective.
If you cant trust your spouses to not cheat, you don't truly love them
Then he shouldn't have brung her around
Bruh Macho Man vs Shawn Michaels I would’ve loved to see that!
Oooohh Yeahhhh, but he was one of the guys Michaels wouldn't want to loose to!!!!
That steroid excuse by Andre's daughter is obviously bs. If that was the case, he wouldn't have liked hogan or pretty much any wrestler at the time.
Be a Man one of the greatest rap albums of all time "on the tv yea i seen yea dancing around like a ballerina"
An American treasure. RIP
"Hows that for an autograph, boy!!" - F'ing priceless..R I P dude❤👋
LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andre the giant used to go up on the ring after drinking 20cans of beer and a couple of bottles of wine. Real fact :-D
@@commentcopbadge6665 wrong they said and I've seen him drinking liter's of wine and beer before a match and drank in the ring
WCW had a Hall of Fame? Lol 😂
Macho Man had a Hip Hop CD? 😂
Don't forget the Macho Mans real life fight with Hawk from the road warriors.
who won?
@@easterworshipper5579 SUPPOSEDLY Hawk won round 1 but they met again by chance at a kid rock concert and Savage won round 2 LOL.
Cocaine is One Helluva Drug: The Randy Savage Story
I was SO MAD at Randy though for being Hogan's whooping boy against the NWO! Why did he agree to that knowing how much he hated Hogan?? That's one question I'd like to know the answer to.....
Oh Yeah! True legend one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, one of the most talented intense guys in the wrestling game RIP Macho Man.
Macho Man was so roided out in the Spiderman movie it's actually kind'a sad.
Art Gutierrez ..steroids will kill you eventually
Why y'all talking slick about the man after he's dead, I can't stand wrestling, but damn
He was cazy as shit.....oohh Yeah!!!
Funny I met him at a Waffle House On St Pete Beach. He must have liked that place. There and PJ'S Seafood Restaurant
I was hoping you were going to show the hogan impression of Andre saying "no baby oil"
THE ROID MONSTER CLAIMS ANOTHER MAN....ALWAYS THE HEART GOES, EVERY DAMN TIME.
Didn't know the macho man smashed steff mc ... respect !
It was rumoured she was underage when it happened though...
Love Randy. Quit trying to get me to hate him by saying he worshiped rappers who rap about a lifestyle they never experienced.
And yet Miss Elizabeth is STILL not in the Hall Of Fame
Some say possessive, I say if more men were more concerned with their women hanging with high value men, less women would cheat and upgrade
The untold truth of macho woman heather savage... 😀😀 RIP
"How's that for a autograph boy" macho man is the man⚡
I always liked leaping Lanny poffo great wrestler
Gone but never forgotten
All this did was make me like him even more, body slamming fans and pistol whipping fellow wrestlers 😊 very wholesome fellow for the 80’s and 90’s
