You need to get your facts straight. You said in a 2012 interview with IGN is that right??? Poffo died back on May 20 2011 so again what you could have done was redo your video and commentary rather than keeping it posted. It would have made you look less dumb despite you admission of guilt.

In the late 80's I had a small construction company and was hired by R. S. to do repairs on his mother's house. He had a home built for her and the contractor did a terrible job, especially on the windows. At first, he was afraid we were going to do the same, but by the end of the job, he was ecstatic. On the last day, he showed up at lunchtime with his trunk full of iced beer & sodas. Shortly after that, a catering truck from Sonny's BBQ showed up with enough food for 50 people. (There were only 6 of us.) He hung out with us for more than an hour, signed autographs, and a great time was had by all. When he paid his bill he gave me a $100.00 tip. And yes, he was in character the entire time. I never watch wrestling, but I do love this guy. He did not have to do anything that he did for us, he did it because he was a great man. RIP Randy.

A lot of this video just seems sloppy. They missed out on a lot of important facts and seemed to focus on negative events, and a lot of them are based on allegations or simply gossip.

I think he had a hell of a lifestyle while it lasted but I do think if the rumors are true on Elizabeth that he didn’t have it all that easy. The ego it takes to have that job is crazy high so when it came down to being told no, he might not have handled it too well mentally. I’m sure there’s a lot in his personal life we don’t know but honestly I’m glad because pro athletes deserve their own quiet time no matter how big of a superstar they are.

Faced conflicts and obstacles along the way, but ultimately overcame them, and retired peacefully and quietly. That's the mytholigical American dream in real life.

The image that Randy was possessive and overprotective of Elizabeth is not accurate. She had a drug problem and Randy was trying to keep her on the straight and narrow, and keep the drug people away from her, and that included a few wrestlers who were drug people.
He took a lot of hits by not talking about this publicly. He didn't want people to know about Elizabeths problem. He loved her, did what he could for her, and most people shit all over him for it because they don't know the truth.
Randy Savage was a stand up guy. (Hogan, not so much).

I played Pony League baseball against Randy in Downers Grove, IL - He was by far the most athletic player in the league - was a catcher a good hitter - a Pete Rose type player - high energy - no shocker that got drafted into pro ball.
I later saw him at a game he was playing outfield in (St Louis Cards) in Sarasota, FL. I think he would have made it to the big show if he hadn’t injured his shoulder. That card with his pic on front is the Randy I knew and remembered - the wrestler; I never knew him.

  • @evilwillhunting

I wouldn’t say tragic. He was on the top of the card for most of his career and loved by millions. Dying at 58 is untimely, but not tragic (like dying at 17). He’s an iconic pro wrestler as well as a pop culture personality, beyond his life. Randall Mario Poffo had a pretty good run on this world, IMHO

I agree that calling his life tragic is a bit much. Sure, it was full of pain, injury, and setbacks, but also had its highs and good times and legendary status. He also seemed to make peace with at least some of his demons before he died.
I think this quote from the Arsenio Hall show sums it up:
*Hall*: Your middle name is “Macho,” but I’m wondering if you ever cried. Has Macho Man ever cried?
*Savage*: Yeah, uh huh, it’s okay for macho men to show every emotion available, because I’ve cried a thousand times and I’ll cry some more - but I’ve soared with the eagles and I’ve slithered with the snakes, and I’ve been everywhere in between and I’m gonna tell you something right now: There’s one guarantee in life - there are no guarantees. And understand this, nobody likes a quitter, nobody said life was easy. So if you get knocked down and you take the standing eight count, you get back up and you fight again. That’s the Macho Mania, dig it?

Pro wrestling is not exactly as "Fake" as some believe it to be. It is an event with choreographed moves and a pre-determined outcome but real injuries. Acting is fake, pro wrestling is a dangerous profession and many people have been seriously injured, paralyzed and even died from this "Fake" sport. As far as the Macho man is concerned he should rank top 10 all time in my opinion.
