Great vid. As a longtime Mariner fan, I knew Lewis was special. But when Ms only gave him a 1 year contract, I knew something was up. Lewis walked so JULIOOOOOOO could run. Hope Lewis can recover and have a great career. But I’m so happy with Julio.

1 year contract? It’s 6 years of service time minimum before free agency lmao. They might’ve payed him for that one year since that’s all they have to but it’s not a one year contract.

What are you talking about a 1 year contract? He was on a rookie contract which is 6 years before free agency

Its amazing how the astros announcers always try to make it out that the mariners hit players. Even though they have hit our players way more often, and very likely put the nail in the coffin on lewis career.

Lewis apparently disagreed with the Mariners on his treatment for the injuries. This rubbed the M's the wrong way, leading them to just wanting him gone, which is one reason they traded him for basically nothing

For a moment, I read this as “Royce Lewis” and I was like, “WUT? If Royce played all year, he’d be ROY!” Then I realized it’s “Kyle,” not “Royce.” Let’s hope Royce has more success.

The hobby was at its peak just a couple of years ago?
I highly doubt it changed that much
The only difference was people were buying all the available cards at the time during COVID

Every injury is different but I am blown away that his knee injury derailed his career the way it did. I tore my meniscus and partially tore my ACL as a pro skier in march 2007 and was back skiing by July of that year. Rehabbed and hasn't really been too much (relatively speaking) since.

He’s never put up great numbers in the MLB, even when he won ROTY his numbers were very questionable.
    I don’t consider this a downfall.
Otherwise every minor league player has had a downfall that couldn’t make it in the MLB

He was never the kinda guy who was really gonna get by on his bat alone. He wasn't that good of a hitter, slightly above average on a good day. After that knee injury he's a career DH at best cuz he can't run for crap anymore. I don't know if the damage to his knee was just that bad or if the doc f*cked something up in the surgery but he's not the same player. The problem with him basically being a DH is that teams can find another option who's probably a better hitter. He'll likely get by playing professional ball somewhere but i don't see him ever really being a full time mlb player again, maybe he gets a shot with AZ but i don't see it amounting to much.
