I think it's not Logic. The ARA system has to be updated no? Logic started to run plugins as a separate process so when a plugin crashes, Logic itself remains open and stable. This is wonderful but ARA will never work this way....and i dont think they will revert Logic to the old ways...

People understandably often compliment if videos are short, tight and quick to the point. I enjoyed the playful (even keeping mistakes in "this doesnt have a sidechain so this is a bad example" 🤣 and laughing them away) but still informative style of yours so much I clicked on subscribe already right after 1:17. updated, tried testing a few things out, got inspired, tracked guitars, had a crash when editing them, entered an endless crash loop attempting to open the auto-save. aside from the crash loop, definitely a few of these features have felt worth it. especially the search function and mixer reorder. 😂

Are you using any third party plugins that need updating? Are you running in Rosetta or mac silicon?
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood all plugins that i was using in the project are as up to date as i recall. unsure if running Logic in Rosetta mode, will check next time i boot up. I tracked a wet and DI signal from my Quad Cortex to learn editing and quantizing features, and grouped both items. i think that's what locked it up to be honest.
cool video! in any case the QRS sounds very mono in your example because you have loaded a mono instance, it is clearly visible from the meter of the channel strip. As soon you select valhalla, you create a mono->stereo track - that's the reason, not because of the quantec :)
I just noticed what you're talking about... But Once the Valhalla is in the chain, the channel converts to stereo for the shootout. But yea, try it yourself and you'll hear what I mean with the Valhalla blooming and feeling much wider.
I think the QRS would have remained a mono instance, while Vintage Verb was going mono->stereo.

Yeah it’s nice features but really not impossible to work without, especially considering that I am always terrified to upgrade my OS too soon. I’m still gonna stay on Ventura. And it’s not free guys, the cost is worked in with how they drive us to constantly to upgrade the OS and then eventually the hardware to match.
So... It's not free because you also get an updated OS for free?? Not understanding your logic here...

One thing I’ve ran into is when I’m recording.
When I use to press the “I” icon to record. I would be able to hear my play back even if it was selected and orange
Now when I record and when I playback with that icon selected the vocals don’t play back unless I unclick.
This was used to hear yourself when you are recording a track.
Might be a preference that got reset?

Thanks for the informative video.I am running Logic on a 2017 iMac via an external bootable drive with Ventura on it.The computer had automatically updated Logic to version 11.0.1 to my surprise! I thought this version was supposed to run only on the M chip computers with Sonoma on it.Logic seemed to open up pretty well without issues.Is it okay to continue running Logic on this system?
I'm wondering if the issue with the mono sound is not loading the stereo version of the plug in?

Yea, I updated but backed up with Time Machine first… Just make sure you use Time Machine and make a backup

i dont understand why you say we need to backup the whole mac before update ? i mean i get it to back up old logic onto zip file .. but why the whole osx needs to be backed up ? whats the danger ?
Because you’re going to be updating your whole OS!
Remember: you can do a timemachine backup of your computer in it's current STABLE state before updating... Then if you update BOTH your OS and your Logic Pro, and things go crazy, sessions don't open, blah blah... You can simply restore from Time Machine backup and be right back to where you were with no headaches and no files lost.
Major bugs, but major features. Luckily I made a backup of the latest update, but there are some serious shenanigans going on with this one. It’s so good though, everything they did with this one was great.
No bugs for me so far... What OS are you on and what comp?
@ M2 Pro Mac Mini on the latest Sonoma. All MIDI (green) and Pattern (purple) Apple Loops are now silent, and open with a blank kit, no patches or instruments loaded. Then I’m getting a general instability with a thread crash when trying to close a project when prompted after I try to open another project instead. So basically every time I get the “would you like to close the current project before opening a new one” if I say yes then it crashes Logic. I still have my copy of Logic 11.01 and the crashes happened but less often, but all the Apple Loops worked flawlessly. These new plugins and drum kits and everything are great, but overall it’s been a stressful update lol.
I have always struggled with finding kick 32 😂

Upgrade your mac first I would say, or you're going to have a LOT more issues!
Since the plugin manager is broken & you can’t remove the default folders..
They will reappear on start up.

The fact that Monterey OS isn't sufficient for this update is a NO DEAL. Monterey OS, is where the new Silicon Macs began just a few years ago. Not even a decade, and I'm already "obsolete"? (I can update but I don't want to at the moment). This is precisely why I left Logic for Studio One. Apple's game of Planned Obsolesce is disgusting.
The good old adage that nothing is for nothing really applies with Apple's marketing strategy. You don't pay for software updates for Logic since the introduction of Logic X back in 2013, but you have to update MscOS and with that, update the Mac hardware when required. At least it's not a corporate fascist subscription service on MacOS......... Well not yet anyway although for IOS the subscription service does apply. At least it's not a complete rip off price unlike Avid which charges you like a wounded bull for an annual update plan or subscription and not giving you much in return for your hard earned cash.
@ Exactly. Their planned obsolescence can easily be proven. I had an older computer that couldn’t go up to the OS required for a version of Logic that I wanted.
However, I found out that you can indeed run Logic on the older OS, by way of changing the clock at the Kernel at the time of installation. (Or it was something like that).
I managed to get Logic and GarageBand to work just fine. Except… when the computer was brought online.
How? Apple has a way of checking in on your computer to see what’s going on behind the scenes. The moment I opened up Logic or GarageBand… I was met with a nasty error message that said something about an “old certificate”.
So for fun I did it a few more times. And every time I was met with that nasty message. Absolute bunk.
Did I upgrade to a new computer? I sure did. (Yes, I bit the bullet because I still prefer Mac over PC for many reasons).
However, my choice in Studio One was because out of ALL the DAWS, only they and Reaper would still run on my older Mac. That spoke volumes to me.
I have therefore secured at less a decade before having to upgrade again.
Add so far SO, has been a fantastic alternative as it’s getting better with every quarter.

Thanks for this funny and interesting video. Apparently, Apple is trying to force users to install their new OS versions. This has been the reason why I no longer use logic. Too many third-party plugins and programs sometimes only run on the latest system versions after months.
To alleviate that, I always stay back at least one OS version… Hasn’t failed me yet!
I guess that the track that was used to test the QRS was mono, so the QRS was in mono mode
