It should be legalised as we see a 200 runs inning in odi and almost 300 scored in T20. There should be something for the bowlers. That will make the game more interesting. An example for all is the 2005 ashes. It was true beauty of reverse swing.
Correction, reverse swing used to be done in local matches already in Pakistan. Domestic level bowlers were doing it already. It wasn't Sarfraz who invented that. You can say Sarfraz was the one to be noticed on an international scale. Imran Khan used it frequently. Wasim and Waqar used it to its fullest but Waqar was the best at it and deadliest right on the target rest is the history. For reverse swing Waqar is the best in my opinion.
Pakistani bowlers used to dominate in 80’s and 90’s as Pakistan had Imran khan, Sarfraz Nawaz, Wasim Akrum, Waqar Younus, Aqib Javed, Shoaib Akhtar, Gul, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif were very lethal. That is why ICC banned and even Australian cricket refused to face these bowlers. Now Australian, Indian, New Zealand and South Africa have best bowlers in the world
Refreshing to see a historically accurate video from an Indian. I was expecting to see a bias video showing Zaheer khan or Bumrah as the kings of reverse swing lol. Sorry just recently saw a video made by an Indian about best yourker bolwers in history and he had Waqar at no 5 and bumrah and no 2 ROFL...I was expecting to see something similar here but happy to see that's not the case.
Waqar was the best with lightning speed no one could ever come close to his deliveries. The pace he bowled consistently and the precision was matchless. No one before or after could do it as good as him
Can you make a video on fast bowler pair? Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram! Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh! Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding! Jeff Thomson and Deniss Lilee! Bob Willis and Ian Botham! Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie!
Actually it was explained to sarfaraz by a player he played domestic cricket with. A player who could never make it in international cricket. It was not Sarfraz’s discovery
Offcourse... When the ball is roughed up and lighter on one side (losing weight) regardless of its shine, it starts falling towards its weight, it is reverse swinging. The weight difference quotient has to overcome to shine vs rough quotient for the ball to reverse swing (besides the bowling speed)
It's not the weight difference that makes the ball reverse swing rather it's the fact that the drag from air on the rough side is greater than that of the shiny side . Which pushes the ball to one side more than other . Weight difference has no bearing on this particular phenomenon.
Yes.. That's conventional swing where the ball drops toward rough side. Go check the reverse swing videos and watch the ball falling towards the shiny side. Or consult with a genuine coach.
Faf du Plessis did it twice, once rubbing on zipper and 2nd rubbing using sweet saliva. His was the only instance of a 5 run penalty. John Lever was accused of ball tampering by B.Bedi of rubbing vaseline on ball Keith Miller admitted he tampered, as did Chris Pringle
My simple theory is that over time as one side of the ball is preserved and has more moisture while the other is scoffed and left to deteriorate the preserved or shinny side becomes heavier, hence, the ball swings in the direction of the heavier side.
That is not true. It is just aero dynamics that works. By your theory every bowler should be able to reverse swing. But it happens only on higher speeds. More the speed, the lethal it is.
@9:00 Sandpapergate was that because the ACB that controls Australian cricket came done on these players like a ton of bricks. Yes the ICC also punished them but only with fines. The ACB stripped them of their roles, their sponsorship and their lively hood to make an example of them, so that no Aussie would ever do this again. Every other International player you have mentioned only got punished by the ICC, which was very light, for doing the exact same act the Aussies did with the sandpaper. None of those players were ever punished by their nations cricketing body at all. I think Australia has the moral high ground here.

Actually, you don't need to bowl as fast as 85 mph to utilise reverse swing. I was first shown how to use reverse swing in the mid 80s by my captain in Under 14s cricket. I definitely wasn't bowling 85 mph at age 13! 🤣I don't know how my captain learned of the dark art though, because it wasn't commonly known in Australia in those days. 🤔
