The best bang for the buck is to LS swap it! If you like the red SS it's going to take time and money to get yours to that point! Just trying to keep it real!! Thanks for the video and good luck!!
Great video, Doris. Rest assured that I'll watch every video that you produce on the rebuild of this car. Lots of work to do, but you can handle it. Love your channel.
@woman.driven Nice car! If it were me I'd pull that engine which currently has a 3.48" stroke crank and I'd change that to a 3.75" crank to make a 383ci engine! Then put some good heads on it, (AFR's or Brodix dragon slayer heads) And you'll be in business! I could give you all the specs for a nasty 383 if you'd like, such as heads, cam etc. Parts all have to compliment one another to work right but you'd love the power and torque out of a 383! Easy to make 500hp with a 383 that you can drive on the street on pump gas! Or if you want to burn race gas in it you could go really wild with it, like a 13:1 compression engine that could easily make 700hp! Let me know. Good luck with it, they're so much fun! P.S. I have a 2nd gen Camaro, "79" Z-28, absolutely love it!!!
With a pair of aluminum heads (200cc or higher) a 750 double pumper carburetor, single plane intake, a solid roller cam (for race build) or hydraulic roller (street build) with .600+ lift and a good amount of duration, a good stall.. that sumbitch would be NASTY! And if you want to get even BIGGER on the cubic inch, you could swap the crank for a 3.75 crank and stroke it to a 385 (.40 over bore) or a 388 if you bore it to .60 over. 500+ hp are easy to obtain with these little gen1 if you put them together right.. and with a little bit of nitrous? ITLL BE A BLAST! My pops had a little 355 in a 73 nova back then running low 11’s in the 1/4 on motor but could of most likely got it to high 10’s if he hadn’t broke a rocker arm. Everyone thought he was spraying until he would pop open the hood and show em it was n/a 🤣! A lot of potential! At least give ol girl a try and see what she could do with a little bit of modifications and tuning!
Love the Camaros dyno . If you get another .. you said 2nd generation.. look into 70 - 73. Split or full bumper. Its the next best Camaros in that generation.
Hi my name is jay r and i build cars for a living. I worked with high profile car builders like Hills hot Rod from lubbock Texas, and Street customs in Alaska. If theres anything that you need help with on your cars i would like to help in anyway. I do custom builds like frame building suspension like air ride, and hydralics. I also do metal fab work, body work and paint. I love to paint custom color like candies, and camilians. Like the second gen. Camaro that you saw. I like that you know your stuff. Thats cool you dont see many women like you.
Very true! Once I pull the engine and take it apart. It will get sent out for blueprinting. During that time, I will repair and upgrade a lot on the body :)
The engine size is easy to figure out. Without getting too into it, you figure out the volume (displacement) of each cylinder and multiply it by 8 because you have 8 of those (v8). If you do it right you'll get 350 cubic inches (rounded off). You can convert this to cubic centimeters (cc) or liters..... or really any other form to measure a volume but that's usually what's used in the automotive world. If you take the 350's bore (diameter) and multiply it by .030........... and keep everything else the same you'll end up with a slightly larger 355. It's easy. There's charts for this. Change the stroke (cylinder height) that'll change the overall size also. You can do both a larger bore and stroke also. There is NOTHING wrong with a 355 if it's built and tuned correctly. NASCAR is limited to 358 and they run 200 MPH with 700 hp with restrictors. My buddy has a 355 tractor pull truck that pulls the sled off the track every time. A small block Chevy can easily stomp on modern big muscle. It's more raw and not as refined. Don't discredit it.
Thank you for that. I remember doing the reverse to figure out the liter size as I am used to that with the modern cars lol. I'm sure I'll get it. The shop that will clean things up will teach me all I want to know as they are prepping it. The idea was to pull as much out of it without getting too crazy. That is good to know NASCAR can pull that type of hp out. So lets see what I can do :)
@@woman.driven On a street car 300-400hp is probably cool and that seems to be where this car is at. Idk your age, but I'm 42 and I eat, sleep, and poo 💩 this stuff. I'm guessing this ride was last built in the 90s when the "pro street" look was super hot.... and then updated again in the early 2000s when that fat tire came out. It's a Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 😁 its the only tire with that tread design. I think it came out around like 2006, all the nicer show cars had it. You can make it into anything your heart desires, but since you already have a bunch of fast cool toys; I would just fix the seat, add the belts you want, and cruise that beast. Don't expect more than like 10 mpg unless you baby it. It will drink HARD when you step on it. [The speedo and tach will move right and the fuel level will go left just as fast. Not kidding.] Cruising my guess is 10ish mpg. You can re-gear it so that it behaves on the street. If you're familiar with bicycles it's exactly like changing gears on a bike. Have a nice day.
@@woman.driven I'll get fewer tickets, less noisy you know. I wonder if I could slip a pair of those big tires off your car under my pickup? I would need to tub it and I can't lose anymore of the bed than I already have. Small short bed pick up.
You definitely need another camaro... like a third generation Camaro! A 1992 IROC Z28 Camaro with T-tops and a 350 T.P.I. motor!!! SHEEEESH!!! That's my ideal classic car. You gotta find one and test drive it. It's the apetaly of a bad azz Camaro!
Honestly given that THICC rear end I was expecting north of 380hp to 400hp. That said my knowledge of drag setups isn't nearly as good as my drift setup knowledge.
Hey Doris, are you actually the one who does the work on these or is your boyfriend the gearhead and you're the eye candy to grow the channel? I mean, doesn't matter to me really. I still sub'd. 😂

needs bigger newer aluminum heads different cam different carb and a different converter and then it should jump into the low 400s but youre gonna have to spin it to 7000...it'll take it

Nice camaro I thought it sounded a little bit out of time. I use to have a 1973 Z28 camaro and i MISS it alot
That Camaro is in decent shape and the motor is running. Good sign. Can't wait to see it on the strip.
Engine sounded very good on the dyno. I need to get out and work on my 327 in my 67 Chevelle.
i love how happy you get around iconic vehicles😝 i love your smile💙

You need an LS in that car, but that motor sounded good not to bad can build on that.
Sound much stronger but we need to get it to 500 horse, you got the tires for it.
Oh yes. I agree.. the tires will for sure take what is coming
Loved the video. Doesn't have much HP like your other cars but it's OK, you can always put a big block in it !!!❤
It was an eye opener lol. It sure sounded like it did haha. Let's see how I build it when I pull it next video :)
Nice video...i just love to hear your unique voice 😊😊
I remember you need to repair flooring first, then interior, put the sound deadening first for road noise like the other car. 😊

How exciting, good baseline, some tuning will get those numbers up I’m sure. 👍🏼
Hope so!
That's a good baseline to start with. Hopefully you can get a little more put of it. She sounds amazing though.
There will be a lot more lol. I was just curious on what it actually made.
@woman.driven True! I'm excited for this build as this is my dream car lol. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
I'm feeling pretty good with a 2007 Toyota Tacoma V6, 4 liter putting out 236 HP. I've got a muscle car under my hood... :)😀
Haha.. your Tacoma is much more street friendly lol

That setupm should be above 300HP,. You need to tune properly. Time advance, plug gap ETC. Running rich, that is the smoke.
Probably. Not sure what was done to it before, but all will be fixed and addressed.
Sounds like a prime candidate for 7.0 LS swap from an Escalade. Then you could put "427" badges on the fenders, and it would be accurate.
My mom drove her Camaro like that! She said the hood was too long to see in front of 😁.
you are going to have a blast building that Camaro!
Of course.. planning it all as we speak. Engine comes out next :)

Wow nice performance 👏

That motor didnt sound to bad you can build off of that and make it faster. You can zwap it for an LS.
Swap the engine for a GM 632 ci and hold on tight !
wow.. just googled that.. price is crazy lol. I could buy a whole ass '69 camaro for that. We'll see how I end up building this one up to
