Hi, I found your channel great advice for fellow travelers intending on traveling to NZ. Unfortunately, a year on the cost of food here has continued to increase, so be prepared to pay more at the supermarket while here in NZ. During the summer months, the weather here is generally hot and sunny. The cyclone season in the South Pacific runs from November to April, and although we manage to avoid a lot of them as they tend to miss us altogether or become downgreded sub tropical fronts by the time they reach our shores mainly affecting the east coast of the North Island more so than the South Island Unfortunately while you were here traveling NZ we experienced several cyclones during that season with one inparticular being devastating to the east coast of the North Island
I just came across your video. I'm planning a NZ trip at the moment, so very helpful!! I've got one question though. What company did you rent your sleeping van from? Thanks in advance :)
Hey! Great to hear and thanks for the comment :) We used www.tuicampers.co.nz/ - hope you have an awesome trip! I have a full playlist for New Zealand on my channel if you wanted to check out any other videos for inspiration (we changed campers during our trip)!
Just another quick question how much was fuel when you went? We’ve hired the travellers auto barn kuga. How many miles was it for both islands? Sorry for all the questions
No worries! It looks similar to the one we hired and to fill up (about 1/2 to 3/4) of a tank was around $100 NZD. We travelled a lot of KMs across the two islands over a 2 month period, if you are going for a 2 week trip I'd consolidate your list to less places, then put that route into Google to calculate the total KMs
Hey there! The budget will depend on lifestyle, eating out, transport and activities. There are lots of activities to do so I would map out the ones you want to do and tie these into your budget. For 2 weeks I would say roughly 1-2k NZD (this is very subjective depending on the factors stated above)
@@JakeTring-t8b no worries! Ah ok awesome, and yes, we loved it!! Hope you have an awesome trip 👍 I have a whole playlist on my channel (12 episodes) if you want to research any of the places we went to :) hope that helps!

No worries, thanks for watching! I don’t believe you can wild camp anywhere as we saw quite a few signs saying this, however, there are “freedom camps” which are free campgrounds :)
@@GeorgeSoan That's great thanks. I recently emigrated to Brisbane from London, UK and did a road trip from sydney to brisbane, got caught by a ranger camping in my van but thankfully he was cool! NZ road trip is being planned as we speak haha
@@ProcyonAlpha awesome! I emigrated from London to Sydney over 5 years ago now. After Europe we will be doing a big lap of Aus so stay tuned for that! :)
Great tips - we're going in Jan/Feb next year - your dad told me about the channel George 😊😊
Thanks Lynn! How exciting! Let me know if you have any questions, it’s a beautiful country!! ☺️
