How does this channel have less than 10k subs when the 1M+ channels quote him all the time. I appreciate the no BS approach...and the occasional bourbon reviews.
Simple fix: Aaron needs to start wearing flannel shirts, and begin every video with "If you cringe every time an optic gets drop tested...go ahead and hit that subscribe button".
Finally! I love your incredibly in-depth reviews. I’m planning on purchasing this optic and have been waiting for this. I appreciate the time put into the video and the questions answered. Thanks brother!
I was surprised to see you have under 100k subs after watching several of your videos. Your production level and content surpasses a lot of other guntubers out there.
Woohoo!!! I'm seeing a lot about this scope lately & it looks pretty nice! Thank you, sir! The music is pretty infectious too. I had to watch the intro twice. xD *I just noticed the "Fuel Gauge" magazine. Nice!
Interesting...Before this video was uploaded I was watching UA-cam in the morning and I just happened to randomly see your review of the 1x6 from 2 years ago. It’s a sign!
Having used the Nx8 and seeing this with a similar reticle, it really makes me appreciate having a Gen 2 where i can just put it on 3-4x and essentially have a magnified red dot with piss off long eye relief .
Very good and extensive review as always ! About the ability to take stronger recoil, there is a video from Jerry Miculek where he rapid fires a 50. cal Barrett with this opic mounted to the gun (gen 2 actually) :).
The burn down seems like more of a barrel burn out with the 5.55mm … I’m thinking the burn down done on a 7.62 platform like the Scar 17 would be a more realistic test of the optics durability. Just a thought… as aways, your videos are amazing quality.
I always wondered who needs 6x/8x/10x scopes on there rifle (defensive weapon etc), UNTILL I moved to the mountains. Jeez you can really see a long way and being able to see better is almost priceless
I would sure love to hear any thoughts about the Vortex Razor HD Gen III - 1-10X vs. the Trijicon Credo 1-8X. I believe they're both great optics, but I can only afford one. :)
I have one of the razor 1-10s and I was a bit disappointed in eye relief at 10x. Gonna have to go home and play with it some more and set my cheek at 10x then back it down like you said.
Sage gets referenced by a lot of 1m sub channels because they KNOW he is fantastic content and knowledge. So the 100k here that follow him follow him because we also know he is a WEALTH of knowledge. He'll explode even more than he already has, just give the gun community some time
I've been waiting for this review. Still would love to see you test the durability of the steiner P4Xi 1-4. For the money and clear glass and weight, I think it's one of the best optics for a 14.5 inch type rifle. But no one has given it a quality review like I know you would.
Luke kreider Well to be fair 1-4x just aren’t popular. Personally anything less than 6x just isn’t worth it. At that low of magnification you might as well go red dot and magnifier.
@@sethrich5998 I love my acogs. For shooting while standing and moving, I haven't found a magnified optic I like better than the TA33. A magnified red dot is awesome, but it's also a large and heavy setup, by comparison.
Tombs Clawtooth Agree with that. The Acog and Red Dot is the other clear option for that. The 1-4x variable is simply worse than either of these options. If you’re only going up to 4x there’s no reason to give up the unlimited eyebox of a Red Dot in conjunction with a fixed power magnification either in the form of magnifier or fixed power optic like an ACOG.
Plus that would be like saying the specter elcan is a dumb optic because it's only a 1-4x. Clearly that has been proven to be a very popular optic. Aaron Cowan even reviewed one.
Awesome review as always ;) This scope is the next step in LPVO, most of the features of a S&B short dot dual CC except parallax adjustment and locking turret, but has a 10x capability and awesome quality HD glass, as all the RAZOR line have
Hey is there any chance you could do a video about backup RDS options for LPVO setups? I am curious about options. I’m thinking about using a Reptilia Mount to top mount a 509T so I can passive aim on my LPVO Guns. The other option is 45degree mounting a RDS. I’m also curious if/what benefit I might gain using a T2 as a offset over a 509T. Not a ton of really good info out there about offset RDS options. Yet it seems to be very common.
Sage Dynamics is a Top 5 “gun channel.” All of Aaron’s content is well executed, insightful and useful to the community. Aaron, can you review the Vortex Razor red dot? I’ve seen a few folks running them on their pistols. Definitely curious as I’m a fan of Vortex.
Awesome vids, need your opinion if that's okay. I'm thinking about aimpoint compm5, vortex razor hd gen III, vcog 1-8, or nf 1-8. What would you add on your 14.5? Thanks
Outstanding optic! Perfect in a DMR role. I got mine from vortex about 2 months ago. Mounted on in Larue mount, on a 12.5" 5.56 DMR I built using a ballistic advantage barrel, and black hills 77gr OTM. The combo is moa capable, and ive able to get repeatable hits out to 720 yds in 15 mph winds. Even out to that distance I didnt observe any significant issues relating to not having a parallax adjustment. I also shot a 14.5" DMR with viper pst gen2 3-15, and another 14.5" DMR with a Nightforce nx8 2.5-20x50 on the same day, same target, same conditions, same black hills load. The 1-10 easily kept up with those more precision dedicated optics. Round it off with the huge FOV and near aimpoint bright red dot center on 1x. Couldn't be happier.
I think a more informative assessment, due to the practical choices available, would be if you were to take the extra 2x magnification out of the equation, would you consider this the best overall 1-8x optic available?
I've been waiting for this Razor. I notice you are keeping your off-axis back up optic on the rifle. Since this is a true 1x scope, is an offset optic redundant? Is the offset reflex any quicker or easier to see through in low light? Just wondering if I can get away with offset irons instead of reflex sight.
Couple points. It’s slow to change your magnification back down to 1. If your shooting at distance then close up, it slows you down. Flip up off axis sights take time to deploy. Red dots are faster in certain light conditions. No LPVO will give you red dot like eye box and eye relief. Is it more expensive yes. Are there performance benefits going off axis red dot vs irons? Yes, just as much going from A2 fixed sights to red dots.
The only arguement I have had (with myself) about the offset irons over the offset red dot is debris such as snow or fogging. I know it is rare these days but if a Razor were to fog up or gunk up, I am certain an RMR would also. But I should probably just stop arguing with myself because I love the RMR option.
Duck Hunter you could also go with offset Aimpoint t1/t2. Enclosed optic and they’re pretty durable. You could always treat both lenses with some anti fog. As far as getting gunked up with an canted enclosed optic you can wipe off the ocular Lens and would be using occluded Eye shooting which would be less than ideal but still easily get you on target out to 50 yards. And if you had more time you can wipe off the front lens too.
Duck Hunter only thing that I personally see where irons have the advantage over canted optics is that they don’t need batteries and you’d have to try with a decent amount of effort to break them. Optics are just inherently more susceptible to failure. That being said it’s not even a question of picking irons or an optic if it were going directly on your weapon as your primary aiming tool. So I personally feel the same mentality should apply to canted sights as well.
Thanks Cowan!! Been trying to talk myself out of one of these.... Not anymore!!! Quick question. If I were to have to deploy it in a patrol setting on 1x and did not have time to turn the illumination on, would I be able to acquire the reticle in the daylight and likewise at night with weapon light illumination? What I am asking is, can you see the reticle on 1x w/out the dot on well enough to be effective in a time crunch??
@@SageDynamics watched this vid for the Vortex but to my surprise, you used the ADM UIC Mod 2. Currently have the ADM 13.9 Core on order. Did, or do you have any issues with the gas block not being pinned? I already know you'd rather have the castle nut staked but they don't go that route.
I really like the idea of the 1-10 hd III razor but I'm looking for a do it all type build, how would the gen iii work with night vision? Does the dot appear? What about passive shooting options? I really believe the scopes like this are the future but just dont know how it would handle nvg's.
"All optics get concrete." That's a T-Shirt right there.
I would drop it again... to see if the group shrinks even more.

Shhh. That is the secret to sub moa. If you let it get out you'll see all the prs competitors flinging their rifles between stages.

My bet is it came from his improvement with the rifle as he shot that optic more. Even a good shooter will improve with reps
