Thank you everyone for watching and for your lovely comments 🥰This was definitely the best moment in the game if not in gaming history!! I'm still dancing to to herald of darkness💃
I believe this song encouraged a bunch of gamers to play Alan Wake 2 because that music video was incredible and thanks to the videogame awards, it was brought to their attention!
I have this image of Sam Lake sitting in his office writing this scene, smiling as he writes "And everyone breaks out into dance, but especially me, it's amazing"
The fact this part of the game managed to get in despite the constant fighting to cut it shows how much Sam Lake really poured his heart and soul into this masterpiece
The balls on Sam Lake to fight for this scene so hard. Him and Hideo Kojima, man. Two of the most bizarre people in the industry and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Experiencing this first time alone in my room with the headphones on was nothing short of transcendental. Going through this whilst thinking about the game and story and trying to figure it all out, also listening to the amazing lyrics, omg. Then, a few days later, looking for people posting this kind of videos online and going through their faces and experiences, I got transported back all over again. I don't think anyone playing through this will ever forget it.
> looking for people posting this kind of videos online So I'm not the only one getting high on people having same emotions I had when I was experiencing this part? Cool
True, ever since I'd played this chapter, this song is like embedded in my deepest part of brain!!!!! The song just automatically play in my head even during work-time.
I sure as hell won’t i had decided to buy this game to this game that same week it dropped and it was the best decision ever !!! 🔥 i smiled so big the whole time then when i had dudes trying to kill me i was oh shit wait !! 🤣 took me by surprise also
A large part of why this scene is so powerful is that it was a perfect intermission within a horro story. After being scary and terrifying at times for hours on end, you really need some levity to break apart that tension. Thats why comic relief is so important; otherwise you just end up feeling numb to it all. This scene brough laughter and happy tears, allowing the audience to reset and get ready for Round 2. And it was magnificent!
Its also great in narrative. Right before this parte, Alan says "no more surprises". This while level is Just dark place saying F U to Alan and showing that he knows nothing.
Also, the execution is just perfect. The lights, the environment, the music, the characters. Just one of those times when it all just matches up and the result is amazing.
I was sober and STILL beside myself XD I was freaking out!!! And I was about to save and go to bed for work, then saw the "We Sing" title. I got four hours of sleep that night XD
I had a meeting the next day, it started later then usual work so I figured it was fine to sip a bit, then I was plastered and jamming out with the old gods, It was fantastic.@@Truskulls edit: coolest part of the entire thing is when its showing alan fighting taken in the video, then they start popping up for real. It's so perfect.
I was high beyond human understanding, and I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time, I didn't care that I died like 4 times to the enemy encounter. Remedy takes such big swings and they wind up being such phenomenal moments in gaming. There's nothing like this! I really hope they get to perform this in some form on an awards show.
The Old Gods of Asgard are, in real life, the Poets of the Fall. Their music was present in ending of Max Payne 2 with track "Late goodbye", in Futuremark 3Dmark 2005 with "Lift", and in some other game by Remedy. Carnival of rust*, Looking up the sun, Love will come to you, Daze, Stay, Dreaming wide awake, and so much... *claimed "the best finnish videomusic of all time"! Give they a chance!
Yeah but Poets are on the alternative rock side. The Old gods are a bit more metalish. So it's an excuse for the band to shred their asses off in the game.
It is insane to think that this segment was so close to getting cut. It is so amazing how this keeps going regardless of how long you take to go through this section.
@@yurfdRemedy has a whole part of their engine just for storytelling via music. All the songs have parts that can be subtly looped over and over without seeming obvious that this is being done, and also the loops have several versions chosen depending on how things are going for your character etc. The fact that the music always seems to perfectly yet subtly fit *your* play is a testament to just how amazing they are at this.
I'm so grateful they did this. An homage to the first game but with so much flair and joy, and daring too. Remedy are one of the most innovative developers out there. Long live Sam Lake. Long live Alan Wake.
I love the implication of the dark place here. Like sure it controls the story and where Alan goes. But sometimes the dark place just wants to let loose and go wild with music :D
Wasn't this one of the best gaming experiences you've ever had?? I replayed this whole section at least 3 times. The audio is SO good. The acting, dancing, sets, platforms, etc just wow. Creativity at its FINEST. your reaction was on point

Game made as a nominee for potential GOTY. I definitely think it deserves it. I also think we are all Ahti singing this song whenever we can like we was lol.
As a guitar player these solos were just throwing me in and out of consciousness. I've never experienced anything like this in a video game and I probably never will again. Also, it's not put in there just to be a cool scene. It represents the darkness basically going against Alan Wake's hubris thinking he can escape and write himself out of the dark place. The dark presence basically was showing Alan Wake truly how little he knows and how powerful it is. If you read the plot board underneath Alan Wake, the musical section. One of the first sentences is: "I had fooled myself into thinking I could control the story." So that was my interpretation anyway.
This ! Also when she’s idle and not moving , it seems like they recording so much of the guitarist just improvising for ever until she moves again and it goes to the next song secuences. That was so well done !
Holy shit that was one of the greatest moments in video game history. damn and i love Sam Lake, he realy deserves game of the year award. We can all see all the love and dedication the put on this one
Ahti is friends with the Old Gods of Asgard in the Wake/Control setting. He outright tells Jesse this when handing her one of their songs ( _Take Control_ to be specific) on his Object of Power Sony Walkman to get her through her own musical mission in, well, _Control_ and clue her in on the final arc of her struggle just as _Herald of Darkness_ clues us in on Alan's finishing moves.
a video game that stays true to itself, doesn't chase trends, no bullshit, while also not taking itself too seriously. This is my goty. Never change, Remedy and Sam Lake
The first time I played Alan Wake 2, I was like, man it would be awesome to have another musical sequence. The moment I entered this scene I was like: This HAS to be at the Game Awards. When they actually started performing live at the Game Awards I was like, man it would be so cool if Sam Lake was with them And then he walked on to the stage to join the chorus. The pure joy on his face - he was on top of the world in that moment.
This was my favourite bit of Alan Wake 2, it reminded me of that cool bit in Control when Jessie puts the headphones on in the maze.. just chills and thrills during a horror game it's brings some light to it 🤯
The game would lose so much without this segment, both Alan Wake 1 and Control have such amazing musical segments, to not have this one would have been criminal.
I had similar reaction, although I smiled, had my mouth wide open, weeped and was so happy all at the same time. Incredible to have something like this in a video game, incredibly high production values.
Translation of the last part by Ahti: "Ai että nyt on kyllä joo." = "Yeah, that sure was something.", but literally "Oh that now is yes yes". "Laittoi pojat jenkkakoneet soimaan, sataana" = "The boys made the jenkka-machines play, damn it." Jenkka is a traditional Finnish dance.
As I have said in straight renditions of this piece, "If you're going to put the MC on rails, you might as well do it with style!" Of course, I've also asserted that Sam Lake's coffee has been brewed using Lake water...
This is why I love Remedy games. There's always at least one level heavily based on music, and it's amazing how they've progressed. Alan Wake had a mission around the stage using the pyrotechnics to help fight the taken while music blares Control has the Ashtray Maze And then this one.

The flare gun is powerful and burns away the darkness pretty damn well... but it's easy to catch yourself in the area of effect and the ammo is more limited. It's all strategic.
The best part of why this works is that if this game had this scene as a simple cutscene of a regular late night talk show it would be panned as the most boring segment of the game.
I love this comment, because when I played Max Payne in 2001 I somehow after that was so impressed with the game I managed to find out who Sam Lake was even back then. Then in Alan Wake 1 and Quantum Break and Control I fully knew he was the creative director in Remedy all along. It's no wonder all this amazing stuff keeps consistently coming in a huge part to this man. He's got to win an award for an all time career at some point.

Just finished the game. This whole scene was fking EPIC lol
The best part of why this works is that if this game had this scene as a simple cutscene of a regular late night talk show it would be panned as the most boring segment of the game.
Something to Remember Alan wake 2 😂
And here am I watching your reaction again. Because it's cool to watch😁
Yooo I just noticed that the music moves with you, so if you stand there, the song won’t progress, that’s insane. Remedy never disappoints
The tech was pioneered for Astral Maze segment of Control, which I personally consider even better game.
I love the pure joy this part brought to all of us lol
Best gaming moment ever, fun fact casey is sam lake the master mind behind this game
Love Sam Lake and his mind. Also hyped for Max Payne remake 👀
@@birdyrageBirdyrage, you are very pretty 😍
They're a really special studio.
My reaction was exactly the same hahahah ''what is happening'' great reaction.
Its just sad that you cant replay this moment without starting over :(
This has such a great 80's vibe. Woo!
this moment in the game blew my mind and I can't stop thinking about the musical 😂 I love it
MAMA GAVE ME A MAGIC CLICKER!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥

I'll take your video game and raise you a ROCK OPERA!
