I had the honor of meeting josh when he and his wife along with some other broadway performers did a show with my choir at my school and he is truly an incredible vocalist as well as story teller and all around super nice guy❤️
There's a grief that can't be spoken, There's a pain goes on and on. Empty chairs at empty tables, Now my friends are dead and gone. Here they talked of revolution, Here it was they lit the flame, Here they sang about tomorrow and tomorrow never came. From the table in the corner, They could see a world reborn, And they rose with voices ringing, And I can hear them now The very words that they have sung Became their last communion On this lonely barricade, at dawn. Oh my friends, my friends forgive me That I live and you are gone There's a grief that can't be spoken, And there's a pain goes on and on Phantom faces at the window, Phantom shadows on the floor, Empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will meet no more. Oh my friends, my friends don't ask me What your sacrifice was for Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friend will sing no more.
Well, rather than the voice being a total match for the character's nature, I'd rather it be more representative of the intensity of Marius' emotions. He's feeling a great anguish at this moment, and if his voice is that powerful and full, it can only add to the power of the moment. It's why Michael Ball was so revered as Marius. He could have a soft voice for parts that were more literal dialogue-type singing rather than representative of emotion, but when he came to those emotional moments, he absolutely smashed them. Side-note, I love the fact that they were considering Anthony Warlow for Marius, but Colm Wilkinson had some back problems and couldn't carry him, so they settled on David Bryant because he was small enough to be carried.
whatever it takes to get this man back on broadway, i'll do it
Josh Young has a beautiful voice. Want to hear more.
now BRING ON THE MEN
sorry i couldnt resist
I need to hear this man sing Stars, Javert’s Suicide, or Javert’s part in Confrontation

Josh was better as Che in the road show version of Evita than anyone else. Even on Broadway or London.
He needs to play Javert!
Dylan? Hey, man! Where's Eric at?
BladesOf Wrench that's what I'm saying
@everybuddy yes
Sadly he denies it
Kinda sounds like josh groban ironically.
He really does. I like his high notes better than Groban’s though.
Almost too rich and round for Marius. He'd be well suited for Enjolras or Valjean.
Maybe he's not quite suitable for this kinda sorrow song, loved his bring on the men.
it actually gives another layer or perspective of Marius's character, the one that refused his bourgeois status and who's loyal to his friends
Kim Millard he’s not playing the role here he’s just singing the crap out of the song. Could listen all day.
I think I'd want to see him as Javert
