- AURORA - Rasputin (Boney M Cover Acoustic /Live) | REACTION & REVIEW
I had no idea what to expect with this from the title but it was indeed a shock to hear just how different this sounded. Aurora has a knack of taking something from a completely different genre, adding her unique style to it and changing the whole feel of the song completely. I was astounded and for once she didn't make me cry!

I feel like the original song is very much about how horrible Rasputin was and about his rise to power. I feel like when she sings the exact same song, it’s more tragedy about the women and the queen truly putting their hopes and dreams into a man like that. It’s crazy how tone can almost change the meaning of the song
Never thought about it like that! Absolutely spot on
She also sang cure for me during this session. P3 (a Norwegian national radio station) sometimes hands out song assignments to artists who are guests, i think this is one of them. They have done it before with Aurora, they gave her Ariana Grandes God is woman and she got 1 hour to rearrange it with her band. This song came totally out of the blue so i think its one of the surprise songs by P3. You can tell they are having fun with this one =)
I like her version better than the original.
I don't need a cure for me
If Im not mistaken she came up witn this in 15min Aurora is the Best of the best unique!!
That grin that slowly spreads over your face during the first line she sings….yeah, that one. It’s happened to all of us.
Aurora and her band had 1 hour to learn and perform this cover by the TV/radio station. All of her covers are very good and worth checking out or a reaction. Thank you.
Omg really?!! Do they have a “behind the scenes” video about that? That makes this even more impressive!
Sometimes folky but sometines there is a medieval sound to ut, which is fitting. Aurora, to me is a storyteller, or rather THE STORYTELLER. That’s what troubadours often did! And great reactions! Thank you!:-)
Aurora surprises us again and again..... 👏😎🇳🇴
The best covers she has made must be Massive Attack "Teardrop", Naughty Boy "La La La" and David Bowie" Life on mars" and Ariana Grande "God is a woman". Must say that her acustic sessions are fantastic ( Christinas radio festival, "The Seed" from earth day, National Geographic. "It happed quiet" at Current. And so many more...) The one concert that is going to blow your mind is KEXP from Island.
Across the universe for me is her best, second to the leonard cohen joint.
@@symplyeargasmic Thanks for replying. Maby Beatles cover was clocest to original, still tastefully and beatifully done. Somehow Cohens melody just does not exite me, witch is probably my loss. Lets agree- she have not made a bad cover yet.
Yes wide variety for us to enjoy.
I only knew about God is a woman, I need to hear the others now thank you!😍
Don't forget Imagine Dragons "Believer" and The Mahogany Sessions
AURORA really surprised me with this folk ballad version of RASPUTIN! She gave it new life as only she can!
I remember this from the school play ground. As with all Auroras covers I listen to the lyrics like I never did on the original. I was not expecting that. At 58yrs old this young lady has blown me away and I have bought my first concert ticket in over 20yrs.
Same here, my last concert was queen, it's a kind of magic tour. As soon as tickets were avalable I snapped them up for Glasgow. At 49years old iv never been so impressed with an artist, not just her voice but her whole performances.
@@chrislowe4789 55 same hear... lol... she is awesome...
AURORA, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter.(From the same country as Angelina Jordan). Among artists and in the music industry the Norwegian singer AURORA is synonymous with quality, and she can fill a record with masterpieces time and time again. Many others are glad they manage one hit. Billie Eilish said in an interview that it was AURORA that made her become an artist and were inspired after listen to Aurora. She is a true genius artist who does not make plastic / bikini music, but is true to real creative art.
She is angelic
Everything she touches becomes gold, YESSS! She’s unique!😍😍❤️
Her Voice is Pure Magic 🎶🪄✨👂🏻♥️
Loved the comparison to Dolly Parton. They do have that same piercing, haunting quality on the high notes. Just two ladies of the forests and mountains bringing beauty to our world 💛
Apparently she is going to sing the phone book next, but let’s face it she could do that with ease GENIUS ❤️
Hadn't heard nor knew this one at all yet and I'm an avid listener of hers. Reacted alongside ya mate. This was amazing
She said they did it in 15 minutes (in YT comments). Also there are information for other her covers to this station that there are very limited time to make cover (like 1h).
Yes this cover was very unexpected for me but great:). And in case of Aurora if she performs it does not matter a lot if it is big stadium or 2 persons she is very in music:).
Aurora is out there, that's her style and what she grooves too.
Enjoying your reaction of Aurora 😊.thank you!
You are so much fun to watch reacting. Something about your energy made me trust you immediately
You nailed it with the Dolly Parton comment - bluegrass Jolene rhythm carries this song into northern-Euro folk.
Watched quite a few reactions of this song, you are the first that names the country queen, an obvious inspiration
Thank you for reacting to this. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. An amazing version.
The accapella version of Through the eyes of a child is one of the very best
VEVO version 👍🏼
@@aeropilot4419 yes! It is beyond words
Somehow I was totally unaware of this. Thanks. I'm all for her recording a complete album of acoustic folk music with her band.
I love her version as much as I’ve loved the original… for my whole life! 😂
she nailed it!
Wait... Is Rasputin a beautiful song? I never knew! Wow!
I am so pleased that you are giving time to Aurora, if you like what you have seen and heard in just a few visits, prepare to be gobsmacked.
The gig in the Cathedral is outstanding, so much so I have played the whole thing, or in part every night since I saw it.
I love what Angelina and Aurora are doing for music, they are both a breath of fresh air.
Aurora makes me laugh, and sometimes cry, check out some of her interviews, she is quite quirky, and I love her for it.
Thanks for doing this.
Take care 😄
I agree so much with what you said, I knew that song, kind of pop rock that we were dancing on, but she is such a stong story teller that she gave live to that old funny hit, making it almost a new thing. Thank you for your reaction.
Aurora does awesome covers.
And you're right. There's something very Jolene about this cover.
Just to let you know, she is going to Manchester in april. Tickets are already out.
There are quite a few covers by Aurora on youtube and as far as I know, the majority of them are one-off performances, performed for radio stations and such. Others are songs that are very close to her heart. Once you do the Nidarosdomen concert, you'll experience 3 of them. 😍
To avoid recommending something already mentioned in the comments, I'd throw in a suggestion for her "Across the Universe" (The Beatles) cover.
I loved this performance lol, love the reaction though!!!!
Thanks for a great reaction! Love this version
She also covered "Life on Mars" from Bowie. That's exactly how to change a song and make it her own.
Loved, l o v e d, LOVED this reaction! She IS something else, - so proud of her! Much love from Norway
You need to watch the live concert "Aurora - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)", it's performance energy and charm are unbelievable!
She is just wonderful. Can't wait to se her in Kristiansand in july. Great reaction. Thank you. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
tube has loads of Rasputin versions, mostly inspired of the Boney M version, now This, this is something completely different :)
The Aurora Nidaros Concert is a Christmas Concert done together with local TV here in Norway, should be fine without pause. Go for it great one..
Also the one from KEXP reikavik island. (15474) Aurora - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) - UA-cam
This is literally the best version of the very same song... Can't get it out of my head no matter which other alternate version I hear😅
Gaelic. There seems to be a "maturity" to this song. I like it (as usual).
Her song I went to far is amazing and sad and just I think you would love it so much
She needs to cover Jolene. I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it 😍
Turned disco into folk. Astounding!
I think it's time to get one of AURORA's upbeat song's on the go... "Queendom"... I like it...
she had some country-western tones that reminded me of the Dolly Parton vibe from joline. I think that is what you hear
I never would have thought of Dolly and Aurora, but I can can see ot a bit now. Jolene, Jolene..ra, ra Rasputin. Both very clear voiced story tells that can pull you into their world in just a few lines.
My favorite song of hers is "Under the water". You should try the live version on the Honda stage specifically.
Realy nice reaction. Why did i just discover your channel only today ?
I know what I have to do now.
If you’re looking for more words to describe her ability to conjure feelings and imagery, then I’d include emotive or evocative. She becomes an avatar or medium through which songs and just seem to flow. 🤷♂️
You react as I did. She's amazing. This was a great one (again)
Who would've thunk!! Aurora is simply amazing and awesome 😇❤️- cannot believe I am enjoying something by Boney M!!
She is a Sprite (look up European Mythology). Her power is to pull us in to a better world. How this world should, but is not.
One thing I would love is to see what Aurora, Candice Night and Richie Blackmore would come up with if they got together to write and perform
You should check out her cover of David Bowie's Life on Mars!
ill be doing that one next, thanks!
Please check out her song Exist for love….so so good.
Agree. Cure for me from the same recorded session is worth checking out. Partly very different from the original.
To me this one song sums up Aurora's genius!
Thank you. I can also strongly recommend 'Aurora - Churchyard (Live from Iceland Airwaves for The Current)'. Whether or not you make a video, just enjoy the amazing performance. Cheers
7:57 "... That smile!!!" XD Man, I liked your emotion, I heard in your voice.
Please do MORE Aurora!!! 🙏 ❤️
Seen comments about it here and there. Apparently the radio station just gives them a song which they have to interpret and perform on fairly short notice. Hence the out-of-character choice of tune you notice.
You're right it has a hint of Jolene from Dolly Parton.
Listen to her cover of teardrop!!!
Yes. This is Boney M meets Dolly Parton meets Aurora =) Loved your reaction =)
She did the same with “Is there Life on Mars”. I think of her like Joni Mitchell and her lyrics that she seem to flow out of nowhere.
Another less radical but nevertheless interesting cover would be her version of the Beatles' Across the Universe...
Apropos indubitably!
Can’t Help Falling in Love - New cover Diana Ankudinova in new show: ua-cam.com/video/w06R8iI0dg0/v-deo.html
Nice reaction! If you want to check out another great unexpected cover try Imagine Dragons’ Believer at P3 Christine live. For an original try Soulless Creatures live at Bergen 2020.
This one was also a "on the go challenge cover" on P3. With under one hour to create and rerhearse before broadcast,
Her cover of Across the Universe though...
+1 for Soulless Creatures … what a haunting song
Which genre? Aurora obviously!
You should check out the live version of her song "It happened quiet" it's so good and I think you would like it! Also it's one of my favorite performances of hers :) your reactions are so nice btw, I really enjoy watching your videos
she sounds like Steeleye Span here
You should check out her cover of "God is a woman"
Please do her covering Believer by Imagine Dragons. The live NRK P3 video with her playing the piano.
I get the Dolly Parton vibe you picked up on. Good ear.
Баллада + Кантри!
u have to hear her life on mars
It's a jam, this song 😆
She does a beautiful cover of Bowie's Life on Mars I think you'd enjoy.
The way she rolls her low notes does resemble Dollys Jolene.
If you want something a little different to react to from Aurora you have to do In Boxes off of the Running with the wolves EP, It's one of her songs that's a little out of what you would expect from her.
Hi, I have just listened to Aurora singing L C 's famous blue raincoat, have a look at this if you get the chance.
I'm looking forward to your next reaction to Aurora or A J.
Angelina has a studio video....
Covering Adele 's latest song.
Take care.
Aurora is phenomenal, so unique in every sence. Great reaction!
I have a story for you about this melody:
Boney M singer Bobby Farrell was married to a woman from Macedonia, a country in my region. Part of this song is based on motifs from the old song "Oh you have red hair girl"about which there are historical traces from Macedonia to Syria, if you are interested, see "Aj ruse kose curo imaš na arapkom, grčkom i srpskom jeziku" it meens on Arabic, Greek and Serbian
Please do the cover of believer by imagine dragons:)
Since you mentioned Angelina, I would like you to consider two recent covers she did that were produced by her uncle, and don’t appear to have any copyright restrictions. The first is a jazzy arrangement of Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean” and the second is her cover of the Beatles “Yesterday”. There is also a live stream version of her singing if “Heal The World” that appears to have no claiming rights.
While I like Aurora, Angelina is still my first love.
she probably can make 'Funky Town's sound like folky Nordic hymn
You should check out her song Midas Touch
Aurora - Life on mars (David Bowie cover) Trygdekontoret is another one.
Yesterday Diana Ankudinova performed in the first issue of the new show on NTV She again put the whole hall on the ears!-Can’t Help Falling in Love
ua-cam.com/video/w06R8iI0dg0/v-deo.html
React to her new song PLEASE!!!! HEATHENS!!!!
You should really try reacting to Cure For Me by AURORA. You really really be suprised with that one. PS watch the music video for that one! Big fan of you since I found out you react to her.
A bit Dolly Parton'esk? Loved it.. reminds me of Jolene in a way
For sure some Jolene in there.
um... Rasputin is the title of the song, its about THE Rasputin
the artist/group is Boney m
Does anyone know what the guitarist is doing in Auroras Version because he is not doing it like in the original? Would be happy to see it explained somewhere...
How on Earth you stopped doing Aurora I have no idea.
im taking a break from music reactions
Ah, okay :) I only watch Aurora reactions, so I didn't know.
You know, when I discovered her I'd been going through some pretty tough mental health issues for quite a few years . I discovered her just as I started therapy and had similar reactions to you, except given the context I was in, it meant that the effect it had on me so powerful that it now two years later I can say it changed my life.
After having such strong reactions I wanted to see if there were others out there with similar reactions. Your channel was one of the first I watched and I cried a lot to it. It helped make me an even stronger "believer" and thus is partly responsible for everything that's happened since.
So, you should know that :)
Thank you
