This video is fantastic. You are so calm and reassuring with everything so well-explained. I used it to make a 2 tier cake for a friend's 60th birthday last year and it turned out so well. I'm now re-watching as I am planning to make my nephew's wedding cake next weekend and it has made me feel really calm 🤩 I can't thank you enough.

This video is saving my sanity! I agreed to make a friend’s wedding cake (my first one ever!) and I was already nervous enough, but then… she tells me there are 250 guests. 😩😭 So needless to say, I’ve been doing as much learning and researching and practicing as I can, but this video is literally the first one I’ve watched that calmed my anxieties down. While I still won’t be brave enough to do 5 tiers, I think I’m gonna be just fine with 3-4! The other cake servings will be held in the kitchen… praying I can do it! lol it’s next month, and I’ll be back with an update after it’s over! You’ve got a new subscriber here.. thank you SO MUCH for all of your help! ❤️

Oh my god! Good luck! My advice is…. Organisation and good planning. If doing anything new… do a trial.
I’m making a 3 tier wedding cake for my daughter first week of June.
All ordered, all picked, all designed and it’s almost perfectly organised. I am a baker though.
I am making new flavours and new fillings. Am testing those this week to make sure all is a go .
Good luck to you!!! Don’t panic you can do it!!! Stack and keep it all levelled for a good result !!!! 🎉🎉🎉

      @christinamiller8474 5 місяців тому +1

@@sleepycat8887 thank you so much for your advice! Thankfully, I’m slightly obsessive when it comes to making lists and organization for most things, so I’m confident in my pre-planning of this cake. 😅 I plan on starting to bake on tomorrow or Thursday and give myself enough breathing room to carry over into the next day if I run into any issues. Then icing on Friday/Saturday and delivering Sunday! My husband is also going to build an insulated box to carry the cake in, just to make sure nothing melts in southern Louisiana heat for the 40 minute car ride. I’m still slightly nervous, but getting excited! I hope your cake turns out beautifully! ❤️

    • @sleepycat8887
      @sleepycat8887 5 місяців тому +2

@@christinamiller8474 I have all my fingers crossed 🤞 for you! If anything goes wrong…. Breathe and take five minutes before going back to it. It’s important to keep your sanity!! 😂
Remember to use dowels to stack well and centre all cake tiers well too. I use a spirit level for this ( it’s pink, very cake baking fitting) 😂, And remember to use an icing that will withstand the heat as much as possible too.
I’m sure will turn out amazing 😻! Good luck!!
My daughter’s cake will be made in two weeks time.
Made many before so I’m not worried, but of course sometimes things get complicated. 🫣
It’s a three tier that will be semi naked with flowers, as the theme is gardens and nature.
I’m making three different flavours and using Italian meringue as outside icing.
Here in the uk 🇬🇧 it’s really not hot weather yet so will be perfectly fine and safe.
Wish you all the best with yours 😊. Let me know how your adventure goes!! 😊

@@sleepycat8887 I just wanted to come back to give an update….. I DID IT!!!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🤩🥳 5 tiers, semi naked cake, 4 tiers with their own flavor filling each (white cake used for the whole cake), plus flowers added on…. Oh, AND a 40 minute trip to the venue in a car with NO A/C, in southern Louisiana heat. 🥵 Y’all, it seemed like everything was going against me, but this video really did help me in so many ways! Beginners, y’all will do GREAT if you just follow her lead! And follow @sleepycat8887’s advice too… plan ahead, take your time, take a breather if you need to… it CAN be done! 😁😁 I just wish I could add pictures!

I made this cake for my sons birthday. I thought I’d pop back to let you all know how it went.
I am very grateful to this lovely lady for sharing her detailed recipe, but I found some things confusing- esp the amount of batter and cake tin sizes.
On the recipe website it has a little toggle bar so that you can adjust the amount of servings.
It’s just hard to know how many servings are in a layer, as she explains more about the tier servings.
So I went with the preset amount -36 servings, assuming that each 8” cake tin is 18 servings , as she refers to 2 cake tins in the method.
But! 36 servings is definitely THREE 8”cake tins worth.
Each 8” cake tin is 12 servings FYI
This worked as I wanted to taste one cake beforehand.
    I then made up 2 more 8”cakes (24 servings)
I wrapped them up as she advised and froze for a week until the day before the party- great tip
Icing…. I simply could not get that stuff to turn white. I spoke to a cake expert yesterday and apparently in the US butter is not as yellow as it is in Australia as it is sometimes bleached, so the only way it will go white (in Australia anyway) is if you add a ‘white food dye’ (crazy I know) apparently this actually exists.
Also make HALF the amount of icing that you need. I’m so glad I did and I still had icing left over.
The cakes needed at least 1 hour baking each. The 40-50 minutes was not enough in my oven at least.
I was a bit surprised with how the cakes had equal parts sugar and flour, the only reason I thought it may have been required is it might have helped caramelise the edges-they were very good edges for the naked icing technique.
Next time I would use 3/4 the amount of sugar as they were quite sweet and I personally prefer a bit less.
Everyone thought that cakes looked and tasted amazing. I wish I could post a photo!
If you look up ‘bear themed naked birthday cake’ on Pinterest, it looked similar to that :D.
Thanks again for this great video and recipe!
I don’t want to seem judgey and ungrateful, but I saw a lot of people asking questions in this video and thought it might be helpful to write my experience. Essay over :)

Enjoyed this video. Learned a few little tricks I didn’t know. My only concern is with the flowers. When I’ve put flowers on a cake, I use organ flowers only. Because flowers are full of pesticides and could also contain small mites. A little more expensive, but safety always. Even when placing organic flowers on top of the cake, I put a barrier of fondant between the cake and the flowers.

Love, Love, Love the video, informative, funny and overall just perfect.
I did have a couple questions; on your recipe, it's written for 2- 8" cakes, but you made three layers of each. Do I just make the recipe again or double it (which doesn't always work) to make an additional 8" cake and three 6" cakes? Obviously I have to make more batter. Also, my cake pans are 3" high, do I fill them 3/4 way or 1/2 way with batter. I love the size of your layers. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I've been honored with making my niece's wedding cake, nervous of course, but your video has given me the tools and confidence to make sure at least it won't fall over or collapse. LOL

This one with the sugar flowers was technically my first wedding cake 😅 But the other was my first square cake with fondant and I thought it would be a better one to show people how to remake rather than the sugar flowers.

Hi.. I love your videos! A client has asked for a 3 tier 9 layer naked red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Dare we?? I'm nervous and think we should maybe fill with cream cheese frosting, but use buttercream for the naked outside. Your thoughts??

Can we use the vanilla cake recipe you have using cake flour instead for this? Or would it be to delicate for stacking ?

No don't, buy pasteurized eggs and they are safe to use raw. 😉

I can't wait to make your cake and buttercream frosting. If my cakes are 9" pans, how long do I bake them? Also, how long do I bake if using a 6" pan with a 3" height?
