Will, your Idaho BDR movie got me hooked on the idea of overlanding. My wife is from Brooklyn and I'm a country boy. After 35yrs together, that movie was the spark that got my wife interested in camping with me. I've hunted, camped, and mountain biked in the woods for years. Thanks to you, Independence Overland, Off the Grind, and Ozark Overland Adventures, she has decided to give it a shot. I am eternally grateful!!! God bless you and your family.
I live outside of Roseburg and caught glimpses of familiar scenery. I've hunted, fished, and explored all of the areas you traveled. I've also climbed Mt. Thielsen several times. It only takes a few hours and is well worth the climb. There is so much to see and enjoy in the West. It makes it hard to imagine living anywhere else.
Looking forward to driving this route! We love to see all the beautiful scenery and visit locations. Due to limited time we prefer to know we are going to see something amazing and that we can get there without worrying about IF we can make it solo. Truly appreciate the trail you are providing. We will do our part to keep it clean.
So appreciate the hard work you and Chris put into this! As always your voice over, video quality just top shelf! Can't wait for the route and hit the road to experience it.
What a way to cap off this series. A huge congratulations to you Will! And truly, thank you for sharing it. For a novice like me, it's things like this that help me feel more secure in exploring and in turn, gains me more knowledge to then go and blaze my own trails. Can't wait to see what's next! 👊
Such a great series. Love the videos and super jealous of what you and Chris have as overlanding brothers. Hoping to move back to my beloved northwest soon and get a Gladiator of my own to Roam with. Until then thanks for taking me along on amazing journeys like this one.
Good series! I’ve enjoyed you all tackling the challenges and getting across Oregon! It has inspired me to make my own route. And defending the idea you have presented us with, from those that challenge you as mentioned at the end, felt like the right thing to do. I mean, who would want someone to fully enjoy and respect the beautiful Oregon I know?!
Thank you so much🙂 Will,Kate , family and Chris & family, thank you for your dedication to this adventure. This will be a long one for me cause I live in Orange County California. My adventure will start thru as many overland paths up California to the start of your epic journey thru Oregon. Hope to see you out there somewhere. As I’m on the adventure of Overlanding everywhere and nowhere 🙂 Thank you for everything Ken
What an INCREDIBLE series! Man, this is the stuff I LOVE to watch. What an accomplishment brother! Cheers to completing this. I know I’ll find myself on that route someday! 🙏🏼👊🏼🙌🏼
The road less traveled seems like the perfect trail for @TheRoadlessTraveler. We in flat-Florida are completely envious of your terrain! Thanks for the great vid.
Will, great video! I've been rapidly getting caught up with your Backroad routes and envy your adventures. I only have a stock Honda Element with 2 wheel drive and travel alone throughout the West so I have to be careful. Still, I've learned a lot and now have more confidence hitting those out of the way dirt roads.
LOL I meant Mt. Bailey. If you haven't noticed...I get the names wrong all the time. And ya we were thinking it was a Pileated...it was incredibly loud!
This looks like a fantastic route. I am making plans to do one of your routes next summer and I appreciate the work you guys put in to present them to us on OnX. And you're right, there is a risk someone will ruin trails with trash and tearing it up but I have to believe most people, especially anyone who watches your channel and is on OnX, will be as respectful of the trails and the environment in general as everyone else we know in this community. Thanks again, Will, for your hard work mapping this route. ❤️
Thank you! I share your opinion that the vast majority of people wanting to do this route will self select in as people who care about being good stewards of the land.
You need to map the LOlo Motorway for On X. I was just there and was surprised that they did not have it mapped even though their headquarters is right next to it.
Very nice 👍 great job on this 3 part series and looking forward to making my own memories while doing this route! Any insight on how to find the route on onX?
It’s available now, but there’s a glitch they are fixing with how it displays. Once it’s done, I’ll be sure to post it everywhere so folks know about it.
Yes, I made the route with trailers in mind. It should be an offroad trailer, but there are sections where even RV trailers would be fine I think. I'm making a video that will be an overview of the route itself and will cover all of that stuff.
One things inexperienced drivers need to remember. Regardless of how smooth the road surface is NEVER drive faster than what you can see and stop incase your meet another vehicle. I have been driving logging roads for over 55 years. It is so easy to drive faster than it is safe to stop incase of meeting an oncoming rig. Believe me log trucks can not stop very fast. .Not Mt Baker, it is Mt Baily. Timing is always a challenge. Early summer risk snow and bugs, late summer wildfires. I love Late fall early winter just before fist snows.
Very very good advice. I’ve never said that on camera, but will think about how to work that in. It’s a rule of how we drive, but I’ve never articulated as well as you just did.
@@Venture2Roam I live on the DDR west of Bend, Oregon. Over the week of July 4th I got a text from neighbors. Someone had crashed in front of my home. His Toyota Tacoma landed on my water cistern. Too much speed and too much alcohol. Not a good mixture. I can not count the number of adult beverage containers I find along USFS roads near my home.
17:24 yes that's the risk, and somewhat ironic given the b-roll driving thru a recent forest fire. It's hard enough with the lightning risk inherent to this area, but lots of folks who don't know how to act in the wilderness are finding their way out to more remote areas, and causing fires (at worst) or leaving trash (at best). If people have the ability to overland, they should also work up to routes like this, and learn to explore thru trial and error like the rest of us. It's not gatekeeping, it's just what's required to preserve our wild spaces. It doesn't seem like a noble service to publicize these routes for content, people can enjoy nature without it. I really don't care what those who don't live here think about that, the people who live here understand what's at stake
I firmly believe that when people get outside and experience the backcountry, the world becomes a better place...especially in today's ultra screen time world. In my opinion and experience, there's just as much damage caused by people trying to make their own routes, who maybe shouldn't be trying to do that, than people who are using established routes like the BDRs.
@@Venture2Roam It's a bit of a chicken/egg thing thought too, yeah? We've lost some of the most iconic forests in Oregon these past few years (as I know Idaho has experienced too), and despite people loving our wild spaces a lot/too much, it doesn't feel like we're getting closer to a point where we leave no trace or have moved past human-caused fires. Quite the opposite. Just white-knuckling through July-Sept every year, and running into more idiots who don't know how to act in nature. Maybe they're just better suited for nature hikes closer to town than ruining things for social media reels. It's the nexus of climate change and spiking interest that is unfortunate
Both beetles and fires. There are LOTS of unburned forests as well…but sometimes the only chance to get a view is through a burned area, so that’s often when I fly the drone.

Thoroughly enjoyed the series Will 👌
Thanks man, love your stuff too!
Hi Will, Very nice video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.😊
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Your support means a lot to me.
We have really enjoyed the beautiful scenery of this trip, and the paint job on the Gladiator is awesome.
It reminds me of Eddie Van Halen’s guitar.
🎸
I have the designer a picture of his guitar, and this is what he came up with!
I hope folks have even a fraction of the fun I had traveling this route! Cheers to you and your hard work Will!
What a great adventure we had putting this together bro.
Congrats for finishing this project with such high spirit! 😊

I guess I did not realize you are out of SW Idaho too. Might see you on the trails sometime! George.
See you out there!
Great job WILL
Thank you sir!
I'm a true Oregonian who is very familiar with that route....
Awesome.
I am also. And roseburg to diamond lake should go no where near Portland. That is the other way entirely.
Could be a Pileated Woodpecker. Red headed and the size of a crow.
Mt. Baker is in northern Washington.
