    This just happened to us. We must have missed a sign. An hour and half deep into woods, we hit a gate and on the other side there was a sign that said no motorized vehicles. It's all timber company land and we even drove past TWO workers in trucks and they didn't stop us. A 3hr reroute later and we ended up going to a campsite we've been to before. On another note, I want to sincerely thank you Will. This takes a LOT of work to create a new trail and to share this with all of us is a blessing. Keep up the amazing work! I hope to one day be as good a storyteller as you.

      Thank you so much! I'm not certain whether or not the roads were actually closed, or that the sign just hadn't been taken down...but I wanted to put it on camera anyway as a good learning point for others.

      Thank you! Ya the point of making this route is for it to be accessible to the average person wanting to explore more..so while I'd prefer a bit more dirt (and maybe we'll keep working in more as we go), it's not really a bad thing since the roads are all FSR and are still taking you through incredible places.

    Logging road 101…have a CB to communicate what road you are traveling on and the mile marker so log trucks coming out know about where you’re at…last thing you want to do is meet one on a blind corner.

    • @Venture2Roam
      @Venture2Roam  2 місяці тому

      Thanks man. I think MT tires do much worse in the snow. They dig instead of float. In snow you want snow to pack in to the tires and MTs expel the snow.

    • @jdshaw2751
      @jdshaw2751 Місяць тому

      @Venture2Roam not in N. Idaho. M/Ts bite into the snow so you don't have to pack them into slicks, and make it so you don't need to use your throttle. M/Ts allow you to truly crawl through snow with only the torque of your engine and the bite of the tire. It's the over use of throttle that makes you spin out and dig in.

    • @Venture2Roam
      @Venture2Roam  Місяць тому

      @@jdshaw2751 We'll have to agree to disagree on this subject. It likely depends on what snow type you're driving. I can see MTs being useful more in wet snow. The rubber compound matters as well. It would be a pretty great video though right? Comparing MTs vs ATs in the snow?

  • @SJ-EOR
    @SJ-EOR 2 місяці тому +1

    Forgive me if you know this. But I usually have a CB ONLY for when I’m in an active logging area they post the channel to monitor and call out your position so the trucks know where you are and they are. I’ve more than once had to pass one where there is NO room except to be over the cliff a bit. Peace ☮️ love your vid’s and so happy you are continuing your craft.

    • @Venture2Roam
      @Venture2Roam  2 місяці тому +1

      No I didn't know this...this is great info. I don't drive through logging areas often, and like you saw, we almost caught a truck on a blind corner...if I hadn't had the drone up and saw it coming, it would have been much scarier.

    You are showing some beautiful and wondrous country in Oregon. There is diversity in the state & mountain country is special in my view. Spring snow on roads & getting through those corridors? As temps increase during the day (in the spring) the snow will normally soften and create challenge & risks. I was concerned for you two (drivers). Thank goodness you got out of there, safely.

    Thanks for sharing this. Tough trail in the snow, but when it's dry looks like a nice enjoyable drive. I just sold my 392 and bought a RAM dually, I think the 392 is great, but honestly not the best for overlanding IMO. The best platform for overlanding (not off-roading) tight trails is the Gladiator, but honestly unless you're doing super technical trails, most stock 4x4's can go to all these trails. So with that in mind I figured I would just buy a 3500 dually with the H.O. diesel. I am going to eventually buy a gladiator, but want to see what they are going to do with the engine options (hopefully a hurricane is in the future). I appreciate you all putting in the work to identify and preview these trails.
