Dude, your enthusiasm, knowledge and positivity for the LotR/Middle-Earth SBG stuff from GW is a huge reason why I'll be starting a Battle Companies map-based campaign next week! Got 6 people into it after watching many of your videos covering all the Middle-Earth stuff. Keep up the good work and congrats on getting a nod from GW!
Didnt think I'd be too interested in the shire battles but now " i's wants its". Really great review and stoked that there will be even more battle reps.
LOVE your coverage of the LotR stuff! We’re trying to get a group up running at the local shop and I’ll be recommending this channel to everyone that joins us. Excited to see how those Hobbit Holes turn out!
@@Zorpazorp Cannot agree more, your enthusiasm is so infectious. I collected and played SBG through school, picking up the Battle Games in Middle Earth series and playing carpet battles with all our atrociously painted minis, but lost interest in the game a few years after the magazine ended. Since then I've been pretty much exclusively into 40k, but your videos, more than anything else, have really rekindled my love for SBG. You've inspired me to dump my old lotr minis in simple green, start repainting and get back into the SBG hobby. I can't wait to follow some of your terrain tutorials, and build the sorts of tables I would've loved to have had as a kid!
Love the work dude, new the channel and hooked right from the start. Love to see some tactics vids or suggested points battle companies. But yeh awesome job!
I haven't played any Middle Earth strategy yet, but I really like the idea of a 2 x 2 board scenario. Anything that barely takes up on space is great in my opinion. Is it worth getting for somebody like me?
Definitely, I would recommend watching some battle reports from people like Zorpazorp and others to get a good idea of how the game works. If you like that The Battle of Pelennor Fields is always a good starter set, and then you might want to do some research into the different armies to find what suits your taste
Ok, a little bit of ENVY on you getting love from GW. It is well deserved. 2 by 2 boards are new for me. I will have to play a bit to see how I like it. I do not have any hobbits or ruffians yet as I have only been in the community for only a few months. Legendary Legions! To borrow a line from your repertoire "Spicy Action!" Thank you for awesome and interesting channel.
Haha thanks so much Ray 😂 glad you're enjoying it all mate. Yeah I'm excited for the small 2x2 action, I think it'll work well with the low model count and low movement of the hobbits!
Got something very special planned for this series that got put on hold because of Covid19, stay tuned mate, might be quite a while away but will be worth the wait.
Zorpazorp. My two hobbit holes just arrived early. I wasn’t expecting them for at least a few more days. Gonna get building now, hope to have a vid up soon 👍🏻
Great video and great review! Loved the detail and examinations you went into. Small point though, because I guess I'm a pedant. Paladin Took's name is pronounced "pa-luh-din".
Checking my inbox, I wonder why there’s a deleted or private copy of the same video three hours before this one... Interest captured, questions raised... XD
I've been checking out your SBG videos lately, and I really think I want to start playing. That said, money is tight, so I want to start with only the necessities, and I'm struggling to figure out what I need to play. What books are 100% required to play? I assume the main rule book, but are the "Armies" or "Gondor at War" / "Scouring of the Shire" books necessary for a beginner? I'm looking to play Rivendell/Lothlorien, and my friend is interested in Orks and Dwarves, if that matters. Thanks anyone for any help!
You need the main rulebook, as far as armies, sounds like you only need the armies of The Lord of the Rings book as it covers all of the armies good and bad from those stories.
That's awesome Ian! As RNF says, you'll only need the Rulebook, which covers the rules (funnily enough 😁) and Armies of LotR which is like a super codex with all the army lists from the Lord of the Rings :)
@@Zorpazorp Sweet! I'm used to AoS/40k where every army needs at least one book, so that's great to hear. Thanks for the info, and I love your channel. Thanks for doing what you do! :)
Damn 54 Aussie dollars for that book!! That converts to £30 British but the book here is £22 from GW, strange. Is all/most gw stuff more expensive over there?
Yeah mate, we're always a bit steeper over here. We're only 1% of the total GW sales so they don't make much money from us and they on the ground costs here for warehousing and shipping are pricey.
@@Zorpazorp awwwwww. That is a shame. I've very recently gotten into mesbg (thanks in a big way to your channel) and impulse bought the book. My daughter (9) is a big LOTR fan and we figured that this is a great way to get into the game So a £20 impulse buy is turning into £200+ on minis, building a board, scenery and all the other gubbins that come with war gaming. Only I'm doing it properly this time, not like I used to at school, where we used text books as hills (geography book had a hill on it) woods (biology, same reason) , exercise books as water features (English books as they were blue) and often had to borrow a single dice from the maths dept when we forgot ours (sometimes the nice teacher let us take 5!) We were scouring for ideas for how to play through, what boards looked like, etc. but none of the other places that have played it through are quite to the quality you do. Never mind, we'll have it to look forward to when you do play it through. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to me :)
@@Zorpazorp Having first talked about this a LOOONG time ago, my daughter was inspired by your videos to persuade me into going the whole hog with this and we launched our own YT channed for it last week with the Skirmish in Bree scenario! (can I share a link)
@@Zorpazorp Its a very complicated game, so at the moment only 2 of my friends know how to play apart from me xD And if you ever get to this side of the world, be sure to let me know!
The great strength of Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game is that it works great from small scale right up to massive battles. I've got a few big games coming up some battle reports.
Raaa so good to see games workshop noticing you, really pushing popularity of middle earth man, your doing so well keep it up!
It's super humbling and exciting 😁😁😁 thanks mate!
Congratulations on your support from GW, well deserved as one of the leading SBG channels.
Cheers Kili thanks for your longtime viewership 😊😊

Grat review! This smaller and humble formate fits to my liking much better than huge battles like Gondor at War. Seems great fun!
Yeah I'm excited for this scale too!

Congratz on the partnership! Excellent video as usual! I ordered almost everything and am really looking forward to getting back into the Shire

thinking about getting into this thanks to your vids, keep em up :)

Great review, thanks! I really like this book, and I'm sorely tempted to make a Shire Battle Company as well now. Great stuff!
I'm in that boat too man! The second iteration of the campaign could see some hobbits!
That looks like a really fun campaign! I'm looking forward to see some hobbits beat up ruffians. 😁
