Bring back $5 footlong. Subway can't compete on quality. Must compete on cost.

Sadly, that is not realistic. The cost of food is almost 50% higher than it was back in the $5 footlong times.
The food cost of making even the cheapest footlongs (ham/spicy italian/cold cut, is $2.25 +, and at best that is 45% food cost. You throw in turkey, steak, or chicken, you are looking at an FC of over 50%.
Needless to say, this would bankrupt every store in a matter of weeks. Even food costs in excess of 35% are not tenable long term.

Yeah I go to Jersey Mikes now TASTES WAY BETTER. I tried to go to Subway because it was closer, and NO. I spent the same amount. Plus I get points for my purchases at JM.

Haven’t eaten Subway in quite a while - I remember feeling like Subway’s bread is 1-2 star while Quizno’s and Jersey Mike’s are far superior. When their footlongs cost $5-$7 they were ok in a pinch, but anything higher just felt too high.

Subway is still too expensive and not worth what you're paying for.

It is still bad and seems ro keep getting worse. Everytime a leveraged buyout occurs, they usually go bankrupt.
