Hi it was a good video, but I think you missed a couple of steps. If I could help clarify… I didn’t hear you mention that you paired your Parkvision as GPS to your headset, assuming that headset has the capability? Because it sounds like some of the problems you are experiencing are with stemming from that. If you just hit pair on your headset and pair it the the Parkvision then you will lose the connectivity between your headset and phone, therefore losing the mic capability/voice commands. I use iPhone and a Cardo Bold. The clock and the volume setting issues aren’t an issue on mine, and I got it a few days after you put up this video. Also mine said Jane’s Phone out of the box. I assumed they did that for testing purposes. One final thing you mentioned someone stealing it. It is made to be removable with the security screw in the back. Much like the old detachable face stereos of yesteryear. You keep the base mounted and plugged in and just pop the unit off and bring it with you. I hope this helps!
I am thinking the voice commands do not work because the headset needs to be paired directly to the phone. The carplay unit is not allowing commands to be sent through to the phone.
I agree. The problem with this unit is that the phone pairs to the Carplay, and then the headset pairs to the Carplay. I received another unit from another brand that I recently reviewed and the voice commands work because the headset still stays paired to the phone and is not going through the carplay unit.
Got same unit. Initially connected this to my phone and was working great. I was having phone connected to both the device and my Cardo. Then switched this into Bluetooth emmit to have the audio from phone through the device and into the helmet. Unfortunately doing it this way won't allow me to make calls on my headset at all. And also the sound quality is poorer and much quieter. So wanted to revert to original way to have music and calls from phone directly into he helmet as I always have sat nav in mute. Unfortunately it is no longer possible. Not even factory reset helps to go back to the original and I have all audio playing from the device speaker which is not useful at all. So overall all yes the unit is great and setting up was easy but I wish I could have the sound run from phone directly to my emheqdsed while BT connected with the device for maps
I am trying to figure out the same thing. I too would rather music and audio go directly to headset from phone and not go through the unit as like you said, the audio is lower and degraded. I used to be able to take phone calls and be able to hear them fine while riding. But now since audio is going through the unit, I could barely hear the person speaking on a phone call. I've actually stopped using the unit for this reason and am back to using my phone mounted to the bars
@@Mudslidex1 just got this from the seller. It's an upgrade of some sort to the device. I tried it and it has an option to select different things for audio. So I can change it so that I got audio between the phone and Cardo. Sound quality is back to high standard so all good however when making phone calls it still wants to use the device speaker. Emailed them again hopefully they will give me some more advice if they do I'll reply here with an update. Oh and you would need to copy it onto formatted SD card. Put that we card into device and just go into options and find system update. Takes 5 min to do.
Loved your review mate, would you say all the other brands are pretty much the same? I saw in the comments you reviewed an Ottocast too, would you say this Parkvision is better? They all seem to have the same price range
Thanks. I actually like the Parkvision one a lot more. It just always works and always pairs up. I never have an issue with it. But yeah it seems like there are many of the same ones out there just rebranded
Thanks for the video! I just purchased one and it’s a great piece of kit. I’m hoping you can help me though. I can pair it to my iPhone but I can’t pair it to my Sena Impulse helmet. I tried pairing as a second phone, media device and gps (through the helmet) and it pairs on the unit, but not through my helmet. Any help/tips would be appreciated! UPDATE: I figured it out. After the unit is connected to the phone, I had to press the Bluetooth Emit button and put my helmet in pairing mode and connected with the GPS device option. In case anyone else has a similar issue.
Glad you figured it out. Yeah once you figure the sequence it's pretty seamless and it connects each time after without issue. So far I'm really enjoying mine. Thanks for watching and commenting
Also just got one. Touch screen on phone was iffy. If it was not warm. . UA-cam music and xm app don't have landscape mode options. So having the bigger simpler layout of Android auto is a real plus. One major annoyance. I noticed volume was kinda low. From headset. Exit Android auto(!exit button should be on main screen) go to unit settings turn volume from stock 20 to 40. For some reason this also resets everytime. Also wish volume control was on main screen. But the better layout bigger buttons and better touchscreen function is exactly what I wanted.
@@satur9satur9 Thanks. I actually was just recording a follow-up video review now that I've had this a couple of weeks. I've noticed the same thing with audio. I have to adjust it in the main menu or it's too low. The way I found out about this is one day I turned the bike on and the music was too loud and was roasting the speakers in my headset. So I went in and lowered it. But like you said, it doesn't seem to stick. I've contacted the company because as you know the time resets each time as well. So clearly there is no internal battery or onboard memory on this. They apologized and said they are working on improving it in next version. They did refund me $30 to my Amazon account or said I can return it for a refund. I took the $30 as I still like the unit even with it's small flaws.
I bought one 7” and I can’t figure out which brand. The software must be old and I can’t find the menu to pair it to my helmet- Any idea where to get updates?
I bought this unit for android auto which is great but it only plays music through the ottocast unit and not through motorcycle speakers. Am I doing something wrong?
Ottocast just sent me one to review which I'll have the video out shortly. I had the same problem with their version. You have to go into the main settings and turn on phone audio. This is from their manual: Go to Settings > phone audio > ON/OFF. When wearing Bluetooth headphones, please connect your phone to the Bluetooth headphones and enable this option. When using wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, all audio, including music playback, calls, navigation, voice assistant, etc., will be transmitted to the Bluetooth headphones.

It has the security screw holding it in on the backside. But I just leave it mounted all the time. I dont bother unscrewing and removing it because I have it pretty flush against the windshield. So in order to remove it, you first need to unbolt the main clamp with tools, then spin it down to get to the back of it. Or of course they can unscrew the ram mount and take it right off the ball as well which is probably the easiest way to take it
Hi, what clamping device did U use to secure the Android Auto to the horizontal windscreen bar on your TIGET bike? Any chance of a foto of the rear where it is mounted?
I used the u-bolt mount that came with the car play device. However I did previously change out the small bar on the tiger windscreen for a larger one which I did in this video ua-cam.com/video/-GidVE1vgCk/v-deo.html
The screen stays as is. You see the callers name pop up on the top of the screen and when you take the call it will appear under the phone app if you're using split screen view. But maps are still on the screen and will go back to full screen when call ends
Why are you worried about someone stealing your device? ..you simply push the tab on the top of the cradle and the device pops out, now simply put it in your pocket or jacket when you leave your bike..
If people want something bad enough they will take it anyway. They will also need to disconnect the wiring harness and fish out the wires if they want to use the screen. But yes, if they want to steal it, they sure can
Hi Mate..I bought a similar device. I experienced issue, I was tried to connected to Iphone 14 Pro. The bluetooth is successfully connected but the car play menu didn’t show up. I did a reset to my phone setting menu and factory reset the device. But still not solved, do you have a solution of it?
It can only do what your phone does. If you download offline maps on your phone than sure it will work. But it is not a standalone gps. Its just an extension of your phone
I have a much older iPhone 8 that I mounted to my handlebars on a 500 mile round-trip. Upon finishing the trip I noticed that my camera wobbles and shakes when I take a picture. I bought this unit off of Amazon for about $160 and it’s a total game changer! I will be in the process of updating my telephone, but I don’t want to risk having the same problem happen again. Does anybody have a newer iPhone and have you mounted it to your handlebars and have the same thing happen?
The beauty about CarPlay unit is you can keep your phone in your pocket which will absorb all the vibes. I did buy a quadlock mount with anti shock and it works well
Yes, the same thing happen to my phone. I heard phone insurance will no longer covers the camera if mounted to bikes and motorcycles. When I upgraded my phone I was reluctant to mount on the handles again, so I tried something else. I have an old tank bag I cut a small hole in the top and pushed the ball of my Ram mount through. I then attached the arm of the Ram mount to stop it from pulling out. There’s no vibration to the phone and I t’s worked great so far. Good luck!

Yes, this was one of my biggest reason for moving away from the phone. Even before it heats to the point of turning off, it will start dimming it as it's heating up and you cant override the brightness until it starts cooling down.

@@bluedpsound Correct. It's on a Ram mount swivel. So yes, if someone wants to take it, they can just loosen the ram mount and pop it off.

Did you try connecting the wifi as well. It uses both wifi and bluetooth to make the connection
