This scene was in the book. If anyone has read the book, they’d see how scary this scene actually is. It’s not just Arnie thats mad, it’s Christine as well. They are fueled by each other’s feelings.
Carpenter shouldn't have deleted this, It gave Dennis finally the chance to be with Leigh and it added another reason why Arnie wanted to kill both of them so bad in their showdown.
I'm glad this scene was cut. The whole point with Leigh and Dennis is they where trying to help and save Arnie. If they were messing around behind his back that sort of screws up that narrative.
They really should have left that scene in. It certainly cleared up Arnie's behavior. But I guess the director just wanted it to look like Arnie was possessed by the car or something.
I was 7 when I watched this movie! I loved it sooo damn much that I got the CD and watched some of it every night. I’m 13 now and damn it’s still my favorite movie!! Good thing it’s on Netflix now!!
I really glad they took out this scene. That kiss just undermines the feeling that Dennis and Leigh were out to save Arnie all the way til the very end. I always liked that even though there seemed to be an attraction between them they never acted on it. Instead they were focused on their friend. I also liked that it was Arnie's increasing decent into madness and his over-protectiveness of the scratched on Christine that made him attack; instead of a obvious teen drama trigger. This one scene would've ruined a lot of the things I loved about the movie.
This is a good example of why a great scene may not fit in with the rest of the movie’s narrative. Although the scene plays out very well and the music is great when Arnie pulls away at creating a sense of foreboding dread, it just makes Dennis and Leigh unlikeable especially with Dennis betraying Arnie behind his back.
I’m sure you can hear arnie shout “YOU SHITTERS” when he’s driving Christine chasing Leigh in darnels garage, just before he reversed into the office. Clearly they took the audio from this deleted scene.
This is the infamous "Smokey red 22" hamburger stand from smokey and the bandit, just past this is the film location for the scene where bandits pals block the police off racing back to the fairgrounds
Christine to Arnie: She’s cheating on you, I can prove it.

Everyone blaming Christine for being evil but nobody saw that Dennis dated Arnie's gf,wrecked his car,and scratched her bonnet.

gee, last I heard Arnie chose Christine over Leigh, now he's upset?
Arnie was cursed by christine owned by the man's deceased brother.
