So stoked to see someone doing a demo of a pedal with some riff from The Strokes ! awesome job, man.
You're welcome mate!
LOVE The Strokes!! Killer demo, that pedal sounds awesome!!!
Thanks mate!
Man, love how you do your videos with the playing of the riffs you give a really good inspiration🙂
Thanks! Glad you like them!
Now you have to compare QOTSA riffs with PDF1 vs PDF2
🤘😀🤘
@@LetsPlayAll do you find the 1x to be the same as the 2 when it comes to dealing in some QOTSA tones? I'm torn as to which one to buy.
@@laikainspace1 yeah same 🤷♂️
First time I’ve heard a Stone Deaf pedal sound appealing (just not my thing). Quality demo. Cheers 🙌🏼
Thanks mate, I've done demos for a few of their pedals now, i think the Warp Drive is my fave :-)
Before everyone else says it, "I just wanted to be one of the Strokes".
One of favorite bands.i thought they are British for many years but just newyorkers 😂
Haha yea very cool band 😀🤘
I’ve seen people say the same thing about Vampire Weekend and they’re also from the city. Must be a New York band thing… they all sound British 😂
Question! In red mode do you get that hiss? In stock mode red mode, I get that as I never touched the distortion part much. My Ampeg boosted is good enough, and I have plenty of other pedals. But the red more even at stock has an obnoxious hiss to it. Seen it documented in a few forums.
I just never got around to trying it until now. I usually use it as a main volume to my dry amp, and a wide upper mids boost to compliment my wet amp in normal boost mode. In normal boost mode no issues at all. Just the distortion mode seems useless without a noise gate, and I’m not a metal player. More an edge of break up, classic fuzz guy.
@@mattg082 hmm not too sure mate, did this vid a while ago so would suggest reaching out to SDFX direct to see if it’s an issue with your pedal perhaps?
Having some trouble getting my hands on that pdf 1x pedal. Suggestions for alternates? I was thinking Catalinbread tribute - and that you did a pedal demo on this channel with that too! Any other recommendations?
I think they're doing a limited edition version of it at the moment, but if you can't get that there's a bunch of options. If you really like this style of EQ in a pedal then the CB Tribute is great, as is the Redbeard Effects Angry Rhubarb (both have bit more gain to them). The Soundlad Liverpool Scran is also worth a look if you're particularly after a Strokes type pedal, that'll cover a fair bit of ground. I think i've done demos for all those haha. Happy hunting!
All I can afford is adobe's free PDF reader 🤘😑🤘
Sometimes that’s all ya need amigo 😀🤘
😆 me too!!!
Let's play! 🤘🤘
Gotta play em all! 😀🤘
I actually considered selling my Jekyl and Hyde V1, and grabbing this instead. It’s also not as bulky. I want this pedal but starting to feel I have too many distortions!
Is there such a thing as too many!? 😉😂🤘
This is more of an overdrive than a distortion tho 😊
Just ordered this. How much different is from the Warp overdrive? Just ordered both but I know you have reviewed both individually. Thanks
Totally different, the warp drive is a high gain beast with a built in noise gate, the pdf-1x is a low gain eq tweakable beast. Both great pedals, have fun!
Different strokes of the Strokes 😉
haha man i should've gone with that for the thumbnail haha ;-)
@@LetsPlayAll what software did you use to open the PDF 😂?
@@kkrsnn5632 😂😂😂 Pretty sure you adjust the gain with an acrobat 😉
@@LetsPlayAll acrobat it is then 😂
I’ve just picked up a PDF-1X. The Dirty mode has a unusable amount of noise and hiss! (even into a totally clean amp) Could you please tell me if this is the case with yours? I’m concerned if there may be a fault with mine. Thanks.
no mine's absolutely fine mate. are you not using an isolated power supply perhaps? but the pedal is pretty quiet even if i crank the volume with my setup so you shouldn't have excess noise and hiss
@@LetsPlayAll Thanks for your reply. My power supply is isolated yes (Strymon Zuma) I have tested other supplies also. There must be an issue with my PDF because the noise/hiss level is off the charts! Even into a clean amp, the noise is almost louder than my guitar signal. The clean channel doesn’t seem so bad, but I wanted to use it as an overdrive primarily. I love your demo of this pedal which sounds much better than the one I have here.
@@ctsguitar you’re welcome mate, yea that doesn’t sound right at all, I’d call the shop or if you got it second hand I’d message the seller 🤘
What happens when you turn on the pdf2 and the pdf1 at the same time?
What’s the effect?
In the title mate - Stone Deaf FX PDF-1X
Please please please talk to me about that Beauty JAG… I WANT ONE
it's a Fender US professional, really nice guitars
@@LetsPlayAll vs JAZZMASTER? Which one would you choose? I think JAZZMASTER is more “articulate” vs a Jag which would be a bit more “aggressive” and “in your face”
@@akoronias tbh I prefer p90s but I don’t have a fender jazzmaster to compare to. And I’m not the biggest jag guy either, I’d rather use a tele haha. So really depends what you’re after, a Jag has a certain jangly tone to it that teles can get close to but I rarely use my jag and have been considering selling it for a while so I’m probably not the best to ask 😂 End of the day depends what you’re after tone wise but the us pro series plays really well, very comfy neck
Thanks Matt - you've just reminded me why I was never a big fan of the Strokes :) No one needs that pedal to get their tones either - very simple and easy to dial imo - just like their riffs :)
Haha ah well stay tuned for some
AIC next week 😀🤘
Ouch Peter 🤣🤣🤣
As to the strokes music being very simple & very easy, you couldn't be further from the truth.
@@99problemstoysaint1 Depends on your playing ability. Have they got any songs that are more than 3 chords ?
