Dig, Very interesting and informative series. Also most sincere thanks for all you do to promote hunting. You obviously have a pretty thick layer of bark on you to withstand all the abuse that you are subjected to. Please keep up the good work.
Good man Digby..I very much enjoy your vids..I have collected english side by sides from the earlier years for many years and have a back action Lancaster with the Beasley self opener and its a superb old gun.
One learns something new ever day . Very interesting design. Just noticed the fore end loop seems to operate in reverse ,if I am correct . Nice explanation .
Owned one of these for a long time, sold it 20 odd years ago £300.00!! The chap I purchased it off had some good days in the Butts shooting faster than older chaps in the next Butt with a loader (pair of guns) ... The Chap in one of these Butts shouted across "Good God Man What sort of gun is that!!"... Halcyon days ...
I have a holland and holland paradox model no 11973 which has this assisted opening device .Always wondered how my gun had the smoothest opening action Now i know its because of the beesl assistes opening action

Thank you. Nice gun. I have your book on vintage double guns but videos have their own special appeal.
Keep the videos coming.
Enjoyed very much and learnt something, yes definitely make some more please. Thanks

I never knew the “wrist breaker” was a Fredrick Beesley design! My opinion of them has suddenly changed!
Love old classic English double guns and the Rolex early Sub ! The big worry is when steel shot becomes mandatory ? or to use bismuth at £2 a shot ?
Enjoyed the video. Can you explain the Lancaster "wrist breaker"?
Would it be best to store self / assisted openers broken to relieve the spring ? Not so easy in a cabinet. Graham Kerslake.
You appear to have had an epiphany; previously stated you didn’t like “wrist-breakers” (though ingenious & beautifully made)?
I don't like the commonly encountered one - this style I do like.
I regret selling my "Colonial Quality" assisted opener.. Ronald Wharton Gave me the full history of the gun just before he died 😩
